Good Morning Everyone,
Its dry but looking grey here in brackley at the moment .
Up to my usual bus trip hoping that there are not hold ups due to accidents and road restructuring.
Hoping to see those I know, whilst out before coming home for lunch .
Take Care,
Mick

Just popping in to thank you for your very kind enquiries about my abscessed tooth! I’m still in the same boat, but it’s under control with all the pills. My excellent PA kind DD is on the job and hopefully not long now🤞

Good morning all I tried posting earlier this morning but my WiFi is pretty rubbidpsh so I’ll try again
It’s to be a hot day today here on the east coast of Fife.
I’ve had a brilliant birthday weekend with family friends and neighbours coming to my annual bbq which takes place on my birthday

Keep safe Covids on the return

I share your delight in a grand daughter, Marydoll. My undergraduate GD has just proposed herself for a short visit at the weekend and I am so delighted. Must have a working bathroom by then but hope to see workmen later today to ensure that. Good thing I got the bedding washed and dried yesterday.

Otherwise life is about to reach its August shut down and although I will miss seeing people I do find being busy exhausting. I really cannot believe the life I lived until really quite recently but guess that is part of the price I pay for being old. Not delighted but I am resigned. Meanwhile I enjoy reading about other people’s much more interesting lives.

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow where it is 12°C.

Pants, I hope to fix the last dress today. However, I have a lovely denim dress with puffed shoulders, which I cannot get right. I'm sure Karma would be able to sort it!

Belated birthday greetings to GG, I hope you and Gingster had a lovely day.
Condolences to you and your family, Kitty and sorry to hear you are unwell, Greyduster.

Yesterday turned out to be unexpectedly busy. I was in the middle of washing my hair, when the P.P phoned, saying that there was no sign of the chief sacristan, who was supposed to be opening up the church for Mass and he wasn't answering his phone.
I confirmed that he was indeed opening up and I was supposed to be taking over later , to tidy up to let him leave.
I quickly got ready, rushed down to find the curate in a flap and grumpy mood..He was even grumpier, when I said that we had no idea where the chief was. The curate is very traditional is not keen on women being in the sacristy, but he had no choice, but to put up with me.🤣

He changed his tune when he got stuck in his alb. The tie at the neck had been tied in an impossibly tight knot and he was stuck. After much huffing and puffing, he allowed me to help. Anyone coming in would have wondered why I had my hands round his neck. 😁
Eventually I had to cut him out of the beautiful, antique alb. Stomping off, he muttered, I will never be able to wear it again.
In fact he will. I got the knot out, repaired the alb and left it ready for this morning's Mass., with a note, saying that he could wear it.

As I was struggling to fix the alb, the Sunday evening sacristan came in quite upset. We use beautiful high candles at the weekend and on putting them away, she broke off one of the feet, but was worrying about telling the P.P,
I spent ages trying to fix it, but I need to raid DH's jar of a million screws to replace it. However, it is fixable.

We unexpectedly have Dollie today, It is her parents' wedding anniversary and at the last minute, they have decided to go out.
Thankfully, she doesn't want to do much, she needs a rest, because she has been so busy. I am so glad. I haven't felt good these last few days, so am glad to be just pottering about and having her delightful company.

I wish you all, a pleasant day.

Good wishes to all x

Good morning from an overcast NE where we have had overnight rain.
Yesterday I hoovered downstairs, cleaned the kitchen and mopped the hard floor surfaces. I then retired to bed with my book.
My hairdresser is coming this morning, she is only here an hour but nice to chat to her.
My condolences to you and your family kittylester

Liberty Tue 23-Jul-24 08:26:33

And a long catch up chat Gingster. Will be so good to see you again.

Gingster Tue 23-Jul-24 08:18:12

Good morning all and it’s cloudy here on the Suffolk coast,
Thankyou for all your birthday wishes. Lovely of you.🥰.

We had a nice day, out for lunch at Thorpeness and a walk to the Mere for ice creams. We sat and watched people struggling with boats and getting soaked in the process. We’ve done it many many times and know now to take change of clothes, shoes . Lots of memories here with children and grandchildren.

Back home and the weather had improved so we had g and t’s on the bank watching swimmers, paddle boarders and kite surfers . All very entertaining.

Kitty 💐
Greyduster 💐. Take it easy.
Enjoy your massage Grandmabatty
Bellasnanna I bet those little boys miss their nana. Make the most of Naples.

Not sure what we’re up to today but I’m meeting Liberty for a coffee/cake catchup tomorrow. Really looking forward to it.👋.

Take care all 🌸

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny-ish Carlisle. There's a lot of cloud about though.

The appliance engineer arrived early yesterday and my oven problem was familiar to him. The elements are gone because my only occasional use of the oven allows moisture to remain on them, which does them no good. A problem he expects to see more of with the rise of the air fryer and ovens maybe only going on at Christmas. He recommends running the oven on low for half an hour each month. Meanwhile, I await the new elements.
Today will be a morning of chores and an afternoon of gardening (hopefully) and reading.

I've also been wondering about Hollysteers and her tooth. It's a long time to be in agony.

Wishing you all a pleasant day.

Liberty Tue 23-Jul-24 08:12:00

Good morning from a dull Suffolk where we had rain in the night. If I’d known,I wouldn’t have bothered watering the numerous pots last evening.

I’m having lunch with one of my closest friends today which is always a very chatty time enlivened with lots of laughter.

It is DGD3’s 14th birthday today. Her request for dinner tonight is at ASK. Italian food seems to be the favourite of teenagers. When our DC were that age,I don’t think pasta figured in their diet apart from spaghetti hoops when they were little.

Hope today is the best it can be for all.

BlueSapphire Tue 23-Jul-24 07:58:12

Good morning everyone from a damp Northampton; it's forecast to be cloudy but dry all day.

Should have been going to the hairdresser this morning but she has just texted to say she is not well, so the appointment has been re-arranged for next week. May have to trim my fringe myself before then!

A morning of pottering then if it stays dry I shall join my walking group after lunch.

Hope all have a pleasant day.

luluaugust Tue 23-Jul-24 07:49:20

Good morning from a cloudy W Kent. Not a lot happening today as still getting over DDs visit, you put me to shame gM!
Thinking of everyone dealing with the ups and downs of life.

Jaxjacky Tue 23-Jul-24 07:41:00

Morning from an overcast S Hants. Take care of yourself Greyduster, which reminds me, any news Hollysteers on your tooth?
Voluntary phone was busy yesterday, then a technical problem with the shared spreadsheet means I have to carry on today. Off we went to quiz last night and came third, our £10 winnings went to charity.
So, sorting out lifts this morning and domestic duties pm,
I’m missing Blossoming and hope she’s keeping well.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

I think today will be mainly admin. I have a lot of WI stuff to sort out and money to move around.

Yesterday I collected a coat from John Lewis which I bought in their sale. I’m afraid it’s awful so it’s going back.

Have a good day.

monk08 Tue 23-Jul-24 07:35:40

Condolences to Kitty and family.
Greyduster hope you feel better soon.
Safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve light grey cloud but it’s due to brighten up later
Goodness gMattie you did have a full on day and so pleased you enjoyed the party. Enjoy having your DGS to stay over this evening
We had a really enjoyable day out yesterday at Brodie Castle, one of the local NT properties. All 4 DGC together again and den building in the woods for ages. It stayed sunny and dry for the picnic too which was a bonus. Today I think we’re going to Rosemarkie beach where there’s a chance of seeing dolphins and a nice beach cafe.
Sorry to hear about your DHs brother kitty sending condolences 💐
Belated birthday wishes to Gingster and GG13, hope you both had a lovely special day!
Hope you enjoy your catch up with your brother Baubles and hope your DHs surgery tomorrow goes well
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Grammaretto Tue 23-Jul-24 07:14:25

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Dry and overcast.

I couldn't get a doctor's or nurse appointment yesterday so asked the pharmacist to look at my dog bite.
She thinks I should have more antibiotics and gave me some better dressings.
I shall buy my DGD1 a birthday present and card today. She's turning 18 next month but will be on holiday.
A quiet day I hope.

Goodness gMattie such energy! I'm glad you are enjoying your new location and new friends. Have a good break too.

Well done Ash getting back to exercise classes.

Hope Baubles your DH operation goes well.

Keep well and safe everyone.

Good morning from Naples where the weather is lovely and sunny so far.

Yesterday we visited the Royal Palace at Caserta which was huge. Fortunately we decided to walk around the gardens first and were glad we did when a pretty big thunderstorm rolled in with heavy rain, we were safely inside the palace by then so stayed dry.

Apologies for missing your birthdays Gingster and GG, hope you had fun celebrating.

Sorry to hear your brother in law died, kitty, how sad. May he rest in peace.

We are off to do a bit of browsing round the shops today. It is lovely being with my niece, daughter of my late eldest sister,

The boys have FaceTimed me every day, bless them. They can’t figure out why I’m not there!

I hope you will feel better soon greyduster, what rotten luck to get Covid.😞

Have the best day possible everyone.☀️

Grandmabatty Tue 23-Jul-24 06:58:10

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and cloudy. Kittylester my condolences to you all. Greyduster poor you! Lots of rest and fluids.
Yesterday I decided to move the tall bookcase from one wall to another so that entailed emptying first. It was therapeutic because I got rid of a number of books that were in very poor condition. I also went to the retail park and bought a new car seat for dgs1. He has outgrown his original one. And then Next was calling my name,so a visit there where I bought a battery charged table lamp, an autumnal cushion, pumpkin pot pourri and a pumpkin reed diffuser. I needed none of those but I haven't shopped for ages and got carried away. Later I visited mum who was chatty.
Today I have booked a massage. I was given a voucher last year and haven't used it. That will be a nice way to spend an hour. Apart from that, nothing is planned. Gammon and braised red cabbage for dinner later. Have a good day all.

baubles Tue 23-Jul-24 06:49:16

Good morning all from damp South Lanarkshire.

Yesterday I turned up for my strength and balance class but unfortunately the instructor didn't due to illness. Apparently they had tried to contact everyone, not me though grin. Anyhoo I took myself off for a walk followed by coffee and cake before my nail appointment.

One of my brothers is spending a couple of days in Glasgow with his wife so DH and I will meet up with them this afternoon. I haven’t seen him for about six years.

Later we will get DH organised for going to hospital tomorrow for his knee replacement surgery.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

glammagran Tue 23-Jul-24 06:42:45

Good morning all.

We heard lots of military aircraft returning from RIAT yesterday but low cloud meant we weren’t able to see them. Very disappointed we were unable to get tickets this year.

We picked up DGD from school and delivered her home later on. She breaks up for the summer holidays today. Today is the turn of her brother who we have all day. I will be tired after 2 bad nights of sleep.

Have a good day all.
