I am a woman and I want women only spaces.

I think most retailers, certainly the larger ones including M&S, John Lewis have so called ‘gender neutral’ changing rooms now following “guidance” possibly from Stonewall/BRC et al.

At least M&S have lockable cubicles, whereas IIRC Primark (and other stores) just have a curtain that gives even less security than it does privacy. No wonder there is a website for “Primark porn”….. .

All those of us who believe that women deserve single sex spaces can do is let these retailers know (as the OP did) and vote with our feet, taking our £ with us.

Oh that's interesting, I was in primark in my area and their sign said something along the line of we have womens only changing rooms and all genders changing room, I was cheered up by that. I was in a bad mood because shopping in primark makes me grumpy.

But nothing like feeling it, trying it on, trying different sizes
I have to internet shop as there are basically little in the way of ladies shops in my town apart from Mand S (I don’t usually buy clothes there) and Peacocks which is very limited
I truly dislike it never know which size then there’s the staying in for delivery (how do they always come when you ve just slipped out) or if it’s a parcel company you have to sit for two hours at least and they come at the last minute Then it doesn’t fit or the material is awful so you ve got all the hassle of sending it back
It’s horrible if only we had the old fashioned town and shops back

Oh I remember it always being an issue but my husband has always been a very hands on parent

Did the changing room have an attendant? Was there privacy in each cubicle? That should be enough to keep women safe and make it a safe space to change

I am all for protecting women's safe spaces but we have to be clear about what constitutes a safe space

Many public toilets sadly do not fit the bill and there are times I would feel much safer to have my husband using the secure cubicle next to me rather than outside or in a different part of the building

As much as some men are dangerous most are not and would step in for our safety

Next is awful for its changing rooms, curtains that dont close properly.

Seems to me that women are no longer deemed as second class citizens, more like third class!

Frome toilets are good. In the public car park and they have the full range including gender neutral and women only. A toilet for everyone whatever the identity

If I need a wee , I’m not bothered about the toilets. If they’re gender neutral or whatever . In the past at festivals or concerts I’ve often gone into the men’s as there’s no queue unlike the ladies .
As for changing rooms as long as there is a secure curtain/door and an attendant, I don’t have an issue .
Levi have a mixed changing room but have doors with a lock and an attendant.

I thought they had changed that disgusting policy, evidently not. So many of their customers are young females but quite irrespective of age, nobody born with a penis should be in female-only spaces. It’s absolutely abhorrent. I vowed never to shop in Primark when their vile woke policy was exposed a while ago (sorry I don’t remember when). But I think even eg John Lewis will allow anyone into female spaces if that’s what the customer demands. Their fear of upsetting the mentally ill trans lot, at the expense of the safety of women and girls, is utterly unforgivable.

Just to add, I realise the OP was not critical of trans issues, and that mixed changing rooms are a separate but still indefensible policy.

Today I was in Primark (not proud of this and please don’t judge).
I chose some items and went to the fitting rooms, when I asked tha assistant which was the women’s she announced with pride they were all gender neutral.
I handed her the items and left.

Why?

The woman who has just been given 10 years for shoplifting on an industrial scale.
There was a previous incident similar to this a few years ago and i wondered then why can't retailers adjust their IT systems so that when an item is returned it is swiped through their tills to see whether or not it has actually been purchased in the first place.

I used Primark changing rooms for first time about a month ago, didn't even notice they were mixed. Can't see the problem myself. There was a very helpful member of staff available the whole time I was there. Lots of people around, what was likely to happen?????
As for toilets. I was in Hyde Park following weekend, desperately needed a wee, found a toilet (ladies only) stood in a queue for over 30 minutes getting more desperate as I watched the men walking in and out of the gents (no queue) and wondered if the security guys would allow me to use the gents in these days of equality

When I was at the theatre there was the usual long queue for the ladies toilet. One young woman walked into the men's toilets and I saw her being manhandled out and being told Men only!

Providing they are designed so I have privacy then I am happy with gender neutral..

Men are entitled to privacy as well. I dont think anyone should be manhandled but I think it's fine for men to say no to women in their toilets/changing rooms etc.

There are many men , who think that women are fair game for their pleasure .
It doesn't seem to matter how old you are .

We need female only spaces .

Aged 15 , I was nearly raped on the train -only my quick thinking made the guy believe that I'd meet him later .
I had some scratches and bruises on my thighs .
Afterwards , I took my Grandmother's and Mother's advice to always use the ladies only carriage .

In my late fifties : I suffered two sexual assaults within months .

Thought you usually had to have a receipt of purchase to return goods.
