Am very aware that this has been requested...But, am sure it is relatively easy to add this option....
I'm becoming very irritable at reading posts that quote several posters prior comments .. maybe its the general mood of the moment, but my patience is dwindling to read copious posts..hope I've not offended anyone heresmile

Bea65 Please be aware that even if you had started this thread under "Site Stuff" there is no guarantee that anyone at GNHQ will see it, let alone read it.

Marydoll Tue 13-Aug-24 11:44:28

This has just popped up on my computer.

Oreo

Y’know what I’d like a button for? One that gives a mild electric shock if I stay on here for more than 15 mins.😄

I know… grin

Esmay

I also get tired of ploughing through quoted posts .
It puts me off reading the post .

But, do you have to. Useful for context but you probably don't need to reread it if you gave read the whole thread - usually quite a good idea.

No thanks. Leave well alone.

A lot of paranoia here. I suppose most don’t like the ‘like’ buttons on Facebook, either. They won’t do it anyway, it would take a bit of effort and we aren’t worth the bother.

Not paranoia at all.

Not all posters are kind. sad

Grandmabatty Wed 07-Aug-24 09:08:02

Please don't. I feel some posts on Mumsnet are very dramatised and looking for likes. I would hate that to happen here.

Please, please GNHQ - don't add a like or agree button.

Marydoll Wed 07-Aug-24 08:35:42

Weathertomorrow it happens to all, of us! I wouldn't take it personally!

Petra, responded, as did I.😉

petra Wed 07-Aug-24 08:15:09

Weathertomorrow
So are you suggesting that we all comment on every post? 🤦🏼‍♀️

Whethertomorrow Tue 06-Aug-24 23:39:28

I often post and find that my responses get no further mention in the thread. It’s like standing in an empty room and shouting at myself. It’s very disheartening to think that my effort isn’t worth anything. A like/dislike button would mean that my post has been read and maybe of value to someone.

Please add a button.

Chestnut Tue 06-Aug-24 23:38:54

As I said, an AGREE button is better than a like button.

henetha Tue 06-Aug-24 23:35:35

Absolutely not. Please don't. It would be divisive and put some of us off posting anything.

Anniebach Tue 06-Aug-24 23:26:20

No thank you

Granmarderby10 Tue 06-Aug-24 23:08:34

I do not think a “like” icon would be a good thing for GN

Mollygo Tue 06-Aug-24 22:08:43

I can just imagine what would happen with a like button. Would clicking on it show who has ‘liked’ a post or would it be anonymous?
I’d rather read the posts/reposts.

fancythat Tue 06-Aug-24 20:31:47

Is there a difference between people reading posts on a computer/tablet, and those reading them on phones.

Personally, on a computer, I dont have a problem with reading 4 replies to a post.

BlueBelle Tue 06-Aug-24 19:15:35

I agree Milly sometimes you get three or even four quotes within a post takes up so much room

Millie22 Tue 06-Aug-24 18:58:58

I really don't like the quote thingy. Reading lots of the same posts over and over again I just get fed up tbh.

Mollygo Tue 06-Aug-24 18:49:48

Have you tried using the microphone symbol to type your posts.

I always do that petra It saves me loads of time when answering posts or WhatsApp messages or emails, but checking what you said against what is written on the page is really important. It sometimes writes words I would never use.
