Lovely pic Yia. I too was married in red, more than 50 years ago - it was considered very daring then!
I’ve had a flat afternoon, after a busy morning. DD2 thought she’d text to say she couldn’t visit, but hadn’t sent it. By the time, we’d sorted it out, I couldn’t be bothered to do much else.
I’m wishing the Soops all the luck in the World on their next medical challenges and look forward to an update on Tuesday.

Yiayia what a lovely dress and beautiful bride. Happy birthday to your husband tomorrow. I was busy early on. I went to Aldi, ironed, hoovered again then made a large batch of meatballs and had some for dinner. The rest are in the freezer. Dd nipped in with stuff for the tumble dryer and we had a quick chat and I also visited mum who was quite chatty too. A lazy evening ahead for me. Soop I wish you and MrSoop all the best.

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. Hope the Soops have had a safe journey to Glasgow, are cosy and comfortable in the Premier Inn and all goes well for the consultations.

What a beautiful photo of the happy couple,💕 YiaYia, stunning dress! So glad to hear that Mr YiaYia coped well with the big day, wishing him many, many happy returns on his special birthday. Thinking of you both. 🎂

Glad to hear that your Mum was bright and chatty, Grandmabatty. Enjoy your restful evening before your early start tomorrow.

Jaxjacky, take it easy a wee while longer, backs are tricky things!

DS3 and lovely girlfriend came for dinner yesterday, great to see them. They also did a few wee jobs around the house, including assembling and setting up my latest necessary purchase, a super duper bath seat, 💺 (recommended on a GN thread!) My wonky knees have prevented me from enjoying a bath, I can still step in and out for the shower. Looking forward to trying it out!🤞

It has ☔ rained heavily all day, its much cooler too. I wore a jumper, scarf and raincoat to go to Mass and visit the sick, came home drookit! I have to close the bedroom windows at night now, the season is changing, all too soon.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Sunday evening and a good night's sleep. 😴

What a beautiful bride Yia, congratulations to the happy couple and a very Happy 80th birthday to your DH for tomorrow

We’re still enjoying a gorgeous relaxing holiday, the weather has been just perfect. We’ve been in and out of the pool all day, DH had a dip in the sea, I prefer the pool. Food has been yummy and I’ve enjoyed a couple of Pomadas, thanks for the recommendation grandmadinosaur!

Hoping all goes well for MrSoop tomorrow ❤️

Take care all x

Grandmadinosaur Sun 25-Aug-24 21:44:09

Evening everyone.

That’s a lovely photo Yiayia the bride looks gorgeous in red. Is that you in blue? I love your outfit too. Wishing Mr Y a very happy 80th birthday for tomorrow.

Hoping that Mr Soops appointments go smoothly tomorrow 🤞

It’s been a dull day here weather wise. We had a lazy walk around Beverley late morning and tried out a new to us coffee shop. Came back and continued the lazy theme reading the papers, DH watched his team play and win while I watched The sound of music on the TV in the bedroom.

It’s a bit chilly tonight but it’s too early to think about putting heating on.

Cheers to the Pomadas brook glad you liked them!

Night all.

I'm keeping everything crossed and praying that you get positive news today Soop. Safe journey home too.
Yia..happiness just radiates out of that picture. Happy Birthday to Mr Yia .
Talking of happiness Jax...I had to enlarge your picture as I thought you'd put the wrong one up as both 'girls' looked about 18 and certainly not old enough to be Mums!!!!!
We've had a busy few weeks with people visiting which has been lovely but I'm just a bit tired today...so at this stage I will be doing very little this week. Hopefully I'll be able to follow your posts daily and if you are very unlucky I might be able to post too...

Nannytopsy Mon 26-Aug-24 14:11:00

We are home from holiday and then family visiting and we are glad there is no more driving for a while! We have visitors for lunch tomorrow, so I should be running around but it’s not really happening. There has been plenty of washing done, so the ironing is stacking up now. The garden is demanding attention too.
soop I hope you are having a day with good results and that you get home safely.
Enjoy the Bank Holiday Kitcheners

Grandmattie... I've just made the High Dumpsy Dearie jam...I found a recipe for cooking it in the air fryer and it was soooooo simple. It's been road tested by DH and the guy who is doing the garden renovation and proclaimed delicious so a big ' Thank you' for suggesting it. So much for doing nothing today ..6lbs of chutney made...2lbs of jam...and a courgette , caraway and lemon cake too. My back and my knee are not happy but hey ho it's nearly wine time.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 26-Aug-24 18:01:03

Naughtyneine did you make your chutney in the air fryer?

I shall be making my Christmas Chutney soon and wondered if it would be quicker in the air fryer.

Jaxjacky Mon 26-Aug-24 18:42:24

My daughter is 38 neine!! I had to look up Pomada, shame I don’t like gin, but it sounds very refreshing, I hope you’re enjoying your last day brook.
We’ve been out, my first time for 5 days, just a quick drink in the pub, but it was lovely to see other people apart from my beloved! My back is protesting, it will settle, a glass of wine may help, aubergine and courgette from the garden for tonight’s frittata.

My pleasure. Glad you enjoyed it.
I made 21 pots of Marmade marmalade this afternoon, for sale in my church.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 26-Aug-24 22:56:29

Hello kitchen people.

Just a quick visit as I’m about to turn my light off.

Sweet dreams 😴

Naughtyneine Tue 27-Aug-24 09:12:31

GG13...no I didn't and it took ages but I am definitely going to try it in the air fryer next time. I'm going to use the same principle to try marmalade next. Using the pressure cooker function for 5 minutes sped the whole cooking the fruit part up massively. I'm on a roll😂

Grandmadinosaur Tue 27-Aug-24 14:24:32

Afternoon all,

I’m hoping it’s been positive news for Mr Soop and his appointment has gone well.

Hoping brook is winging her way safely home from her travels and it’s not been too taxing a day for Grandmabatty and her charges.

Hope ones with poorly backs etc are getting some comfort.

The jam, marmalade and chutney making is making my mouth water. I used to make jam myself but only touch it rarely these days I find them too sweet.

I’m just killing time before I go to the hairdressers and am watching DH get to grips with the jungle of a garden. He’s bought a new gadget that looks like it’s making light work of it.

Enjoy the rest of the day.

annsixty Tue 27-Aug-24 15:03:05

Good afternoon from a wet and dismal Stockport.
I have just put Sainsbury’s order away after cleaning out two cupboards, I was ashamed at how much needed “ chucking”.
I feel quite virtuous now.

I am hoping that the weather clears up for the weekend, I am meeting up with my D and GD from Friday until Monday.
We are meeting in Nottingham which is well known to me and to my D who lived there for 3 years while at the Polytechnic.
I need it to be at least dry as I will be sitting around a lot while they do their thing as I can’t get about.
I haven’t seen them since early January so looking forward to it.

I hope things have gone well for the Soops and for any one else not well or caring.
I have decided not to tell my family about my impending health worries.
If there is anything to tell they will know soon enough.
Have the best afternoon you can everyone.

soop Tue 27-Aug-24 16:04:50

Greetings to our dear Kitcheners.

A quick message to update you. Thank you for your kind good wishes.
On Sunday, we had a four hour journey through torrential rain and flooded roads. Neither of us has experienced anything so diabolical and unnerving.
Mr Soop met with the consultant who will now be dealing with his AAA. He's to have a scan in Oban hospital next month. Oban is a great deal closer than Glasgow.
We then navigated through the complex route to the Beatson cancer hospital. It is vast. So many different floors along which to wend our way. Luckily, I had my trusty stroller. He met a new lymphoma consultant. He was poked and prodded and was happy to learn that his bloods remained "stable". He's to have a three month telephone appointment followed by a further three month appointment in Glasgow.
His scalp was oozing from the thick gel that protects his exposed skull bone. The dressings simply cannot cope. He's now en route to see the GP who will change the dressing. I took a couple of photos to show doctor the mess that dribbled down his neck throughout the weekend.
We are hoping that notification of the planned scalp surgery will arrive pretty damn quick. hmm
Since returning home, it's been pretty much a time of catching up. The in-box took me some time to clear. I shall be more or less ready to read through all your happenings within the next day or so.
Ironing awaits. Washing machine needs emptying.

Bless you all. I shall return.

Grandmabatty Tue 27-Aug-24 17:53:50

As always dear Soop and Mr Soop, I wish you all the best. What a horrendous journey for you. Annsixty well done for the cupboard clean! Brook I assume you are either home or on the way. Grandma dinosaur it's been a very pleasant day with dgs2 mainly. He is discovering dinosaurs now, at about the same age as his big brother did. My lovely aunt popped in with jam jars because I was running low. We had a chat and she left with raspberry jam and pickled beetroot. This has been my best year for making stuff.
I'm crashed on the couch for a while before I make dinner. The boys are finally home, I've tidied away the toys and the kitchen is ok. A lazy evening ahead. Take care all. Hope Grannmarie is coping with her bad knee.

Aldom Tue 27-Aug-24 18:08:47

Dear Soop, just to let you know that I am thinking of you both and hoping for the best for you. Such a stressful time both emotionally and physically. Such a long journey to the hospital.
Warmest thoughts and wishes to you both. flowers shamrock smile

Jaxjacky Tue 27-Aug-24 18:10:00

That sounds horrible for him soop and embarrassing, I’ll keep everything crossed for a swift appointment, good news on the bloods.
The Nottingham forecast looks ok ann, dry and sunny, what a great weekend ahead for you, I’m sorry to hear of your health concerns.
A minor issue in the great scheme, my back is slow in its recovery, being 5'11 doesn't help apparently, however I've sorted some freezer stuff about so the small one is defrosting. Wandered aimlessly around the garden, it’s only small, but stretching my legs every hour, I’m getting frustrated now.
Fingers crossed brook is having a painless trip home and hope to hear from Urms soon.
Enjoy your evenings.

Grannmarie Tue 27-Aug-24 19:08:40

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. 🥰 Thank you for your update, Soop, I've been wondering how MrSoop got on. Glad to hear that he's met his new consultant, plans are being made and his next appointment is much closer to home. You must be shattered with the travelling and the worry, rest well now you're back home. Thinking of you both. 💕

Thank you, Grandmabatty, the knee is improving but still not quite right...I did my exercises in the pool this morning, that seems to help. Glad you had a better day with your wee boys today, enjoy your restful evening.

Jaxjacky, would walking in the pool maybe help your sore back? Hope it improves soon.🤞

Annsixty, enjoy your girlie break in
Nottingham. I hope the sun shines for you, and your health issues are manageable.

I am very impressed with all you talented ladies who make jams and chutneys, they sound very tasty.

Hope brook and her DH are safe home now after their wonderful holiday. Safe journeys to all travelling.

I phoned the AA today to ' negotiate ' my renewal quotes for insurance and breakdown cover, and was delighted to get a good reduction on both! It certainly pays to get in before the auto renewal. Well worth 15 minutes on the phone.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Tuesday evening. I'm enjoying watching Elsbeth, and Emily in Paris, a much lighter watch than my recent revisit to the Luther series, so well done but very dark and gory! 📺
TOYA, NNGB.
Thinking especially of Kalu and family. 💕🙏🕯

Nannytopsy Tue 27-Aug-24 19:10:53

Love to Mr soop. DH’s leg ulcers used to leak at times and it’s so difficult to find a suitable dressing. I do hope they can sort him out.

brook2704 Tue 27-Aug-24 20:26:58

Thank you all for your kind messages, we’re safely back home now after a good uneventful journey with no delays. It’s even quite warm here in Inverness this evening, about 17° so not too much of a shock to the system. The longest leg of the journey was from Glasgow airport up to Inverness, it’s times like this I really miss living near to an international airport
I’ll read back and catch up on all the kitchen news as soon as I can but just to say I’m thinking especially of MrSoop and hoping he gets a date for his surgery very soon x

Scapa1 Tue 27-Aug-24 20:43:59

It turned out to be a warm and sunny day here in Dunblane after a miserable wet morning. Dh and I met with his sister at the cafe at the bottom of the Wallace Monument this afternoon. I took her some hydrangea which have been fabulous this year. There were lots of visitors about of all nationalities but as expected there was a big queue for the free bus up to the monument not that we were going up. It was mainly young people who you think would enjoy the walk up through the wooded area, it took them longer to wait in the queue than it would to walk up! Soop you and MrSoop are certainly having a rough time lately I hope you get a resolution very soon. Brook good you had an uneventful journey back after what sounds like a super holiday. I hope you waved on your way past, the A9 has been looking very busy this week.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 27-Aug-24 21:29:40

Well, I’ve just lost another message. Why? So annoying.

Redcar Tue 27-Aug-24 21:53:21

soop what an awful journey to hospital for you both. Sorry that mr soop’s poor head is weeping so much. There’s not much flesh on your head is there. My dad had a skin cancer removed from his head some years ago, but fortunately the skin graft took successfully.
brook pleased you’re home safely after your lovely holiday.
I’m very impressed with all the ladies in the kitchen who make jam and chutney. I haven’t made jam in years, because none of my family ate it. I’ve not tried making chutney. Nearer Christmas I sometimes make my own mincemeat, which is generally tastier than the bought mincemeat. No doubt due to the quantity of brandy I put in it!
Thinking of kalu and the family.
Night night everyone.
