Brook I had to bring the washing in. It's now pouring rain. I'm resisting the bread too! Fingers crossed that your dd gets a moving date soon.

Hello kitchen people. I hope you’ve all had a good day.

It was my book group this afternoon. We meet in the village coffee shop and have a sandwich lunch. I had a tasty tuna and salad bap. The chocolate cake was one of the best bought cakes I’ve ever had. Actually the owner of the cafe gets her mum to bake the cakes. We had a good meeting.

I am cooking a Nigel Slater recipe for dinner - chicken in tarragon and leeks. I’ve made a pilaff to go with it.

Have a good evening. I might watch an old Poirot.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 29-Aug-24 18:49:51

Hi kitchen friends, I am cooking dinner (sausages, mash, cabbage and broccoli with onion gravy)

I have pretty feet and hands after my pedicure and manicure this afternoon. Managed to buy several birthday gifts online, decided not to go into Chelmsford due to the probable back-to-school crowds 🤣

Thinking of all with illness or troubles (((hugs)))

Hi all, our bedding dried and MrJ has remade the bed, sun here today. My back is slowly easing, I’ve made a chiropractor appointment in couple of weeks time to identify the problem and look at strengthening it.
I can now refill our small chest freezer as it’s cleaned out and ready, I’ll talk to the local butcher and see what I can negotiate.
Your daughter has the best attitude brook it can be a nightmare time, recipe sounds tasty llfl
Small steps NannyG4 and taking those first ones must be very hard as I’m sure Doodle knows, ❤️ for you both.
Anyway, off to do something with chicken fillets, not involving tarragon and leeks!

Charleygirl5 Thu 29-Aug-24 19:11:24

soop I do hope Mr. Soop can get decent dressings for his poor head.

GrannyG4 It is very hard but you have started to go out and people are very understanding.

No rain here so my washing machine rarely stops. Where the clothes come from is beyond me.

Tonight it will be duck strips stir fry courtesy of M&S.

TV for me is awful so an early night with a book is on the cards.

Evening the kitchen! Out to a lunchtime 80th birthday party and then collecting an order and a hint of shopping. I have been washing for days and now I have a mountain of ironing.
Then there are the name tapes in 2 lots of school uniforms! Any volunteers out there?
I hope you can all enjoy the weekend and have a bit of late summer sunshine.

Charleygirl5 Thu 29-Aug-24 22:25:49

Nannytopsy are the name tapes the sew-on or iron-on variety? At least the latter is faster.

Goodness...why is it when you just think you've got the hang of life that a memory comes up on timehop or Facebook memories that pulls the rug from under your feet....My 4 year old DGS now 18 came and lay full out on me as I lay on the beach...I put J found the comfiest sunbed on the beach...and there he is laid out on top of me snuggled in...It was from 13 years ago. I'm struggling with this memory tonight.

neine I hate it when old photos pop up on my iPad, often sad memories are stirred up.
jax my freezer really needs defrosting, but it’s a bit warm to do it at the moment, and I need to pick a day when my back can cope with the bending. I always said I’d fall in one day & be found with my legs sticking out of it!
Podiatrist yesterday and had my car cleaned at the car wash next door to the foot clinic!
Bingo in the village hall this evening! Such excitement!
Have a good day everyone.

A late Good Morning everyone.
NN sad memories but now think of your life with your DH and make happy new ones.
I am packing and getting ready to go meet my D and GD.
I only see them once or twice a year so looking forward to it.
I have had to review my clothes as the promised hot spell has been downgraded to warm.
Back on Monday so have the best weekend you can.

brook2704 Fri 30-Aug-24 12:20:23

Have a lovely time with your D and GD ann and I hope the weather stays warm and dry

I’m off out soon to meet my pal for coffee so it’ll be a lovely afternoon catching up on lots of news
Take care all x

Grandmabatty Fri 30-Aug-24 14:31:16

Have a lovely time Annsixty. Enjoy your catch up Brook. I've just returned from dgs1's school picnic. We all had a lovely time, although the numbers were down from last year. I have volunteered to work in their school library and have been grabbed with both hands by the Deputy Head. She knows me anyway as I worked with her when I was a teacher. I was a chartered librarian before that, so have the qualifications. I'm happy to help out.
I'm waiting for a Tesco delivery soon. Then a quiet night in. Enjoy your day all.

kittylester Fri 30-Aug-24 14:45:35

DH and DS1 will be quite close to you tomorrow, Ann give them a wave.

soop Fri 30-Aug-24 15:03:17

Hello lovely people. I am happy to find that you are all caring and sharing with each other. It is what our Kitchen is meant for.

I am not going to bore you with my worries. Suffice to say that, on Tuesday week, Mr Soop will be travelling to Glasgow, on the bus, to see the surgeon regarding the proposed surgery on his squamous cell carcinoma. We shall then be a positive step closer to a resolution. Back to have dressing changed again by the GP.

Much love to every one of our Kitcheners. Hugs aplenty. smile

Jaxjacky Fri 30-Aug-24 19:07:50

Hello everyone. I’ve been happy to read positives while being saddened to read about pressures. I’ll not comment on individuals, I’m concerned about leaving anyone feeling ignored, other than to wish mr soop all the very best. Warm thoughts go to all with worries whatever they may be.

I’m also getting bothered about urms. Is there news of her please?

We had a thoroughly enjoyable and successful day yesterday with our grandson. He’s bursting with energy, moves at twice the speed of light and I had worried he’d feel too constrained being out with ancient folk who move at tortoise speed until he said he’d like to repeat the day we had with his parents. Autism encourages repetition of things he enjoys, a seal of approval, phew. It was a rare treat for us, we relished every second.

Very happy with the outcome of a meeting this morning where the volunteer group reviewed the usefulness of continuing our work at the GP surgery. A unanimous decision to continue. Excellent.

A spur of the moment fish and chip lunch before a walk on a beach further down the coast, much quieter than ours. The sun was warm, plenty of space and a bench to sit on and look out when we ran out of steam. Just right.

Feet up now, a glass of chilled white to come. Hope you can all have as relaxed an evening.

Jaxjacky Fri 30-Aug-24 20:08:31

Sounds perfect corner, I second your concern.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 31-Aug-24 09:20:43

I PM’d Urms yesterday but have as yet heard nothing.

RosiesMaw2 Sat 31-Aug-24 09:23:57

I got that she “is not receiving PMs”
I fear the worst, just as Callistemon and GSM have disappeared - or perhaps “been disappeared”. 😥😥

Beechnut Sat 31-Aug-24 09:30:43

I got the same as you Rosies when I wanted to send Urms birthday greetings earlier this week.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 31-Aug-24 09:55:26

I haven’t received that message.

cornergran Sat 31-Aug-24 13:12:50

There’s a missing posters thread which comments that urms is OK and having technical issues with GN. So far not resolved.

soop Sat 31-Aug-24 15:43:16

I would also like to hear news of our Urms. She's been absent for some time.

Beechnut I love your user name. Welcome to the Kitchen. I am a trifle out of date with some issues. I apologise if I've missed welcoming any other newbie to our gathering place.

The sun has got his hat on. Do you remember that song? Mr Soop is doing a few wee jobs in the garden.

I've pedalled the bike to no place in particular. On this occasion, I did so as I listened to Queen. One of my favourite bands.

I took a photograph of a perfect tranquil sunset to share with my Granspals. When Mr S returns, he'll help me to transfer it from wherever it has been stored. Technology! hmm

Wishing all those of you with concerns a gentle weekend.

Almost forgot to mention that our grandson, after seven years of study, has qualified as an accountant. We are very proud of his achievement.
