Beechnut You are very welcome. smile

Here, at last, is the photo that I took of last night's tranquil sunset.

Redcar Sat 31-Aug-24 17:00:09

Hello everyone
soop lovely photo of the sunset, and congratulations to your grandson on qualifying as an accountant.
I’m having a very quiet day today as both daughters and families are away until tomorrow. Yesterday was quite stressful, I was doing the ironing and almost finished, when the iron blew up with a blue flash and a loud bang. It wasn’t very old, but was probably clogged with limescale. The bang was the circuit breaker which saved me from injury or worse. Despite doing all the right things, I couldn’t reset the circuit breaker, but fortunately my electrician was able to come and fix it in the afternoon. I’ve bought a new iron!
Didn’t win at bingo either!
I’ve cut down a few of my huge hollyhocks which have finished flowering, but I don’t like to cut them down if they’ve still got a few flowers left.
I hope everyone has a good evening.

DH is preparing chicken breasts for dinner (Chicken in Marsala wine)

I have made 2 kilos of bolognaise ragu to freeze in portions.

I need to reorganise the freezers first thing tomorrow to fit them in (how exciting 🤣)

Lovely sunset soop

Wishing you all a peaceful Saturday evening 🙋‍♀️

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. The sun ☀ is shining on Lanarkshire, now there's a novelty!

DH and I collected the Wee Boy from school yesterday, all smiles and big hugs to see us. We scootered home, well the Wee Boy and his Papa did, I hirpled a bit with the Wonky Knee..played in the garden for a while then enjoyed Friday night pizza followed by ice cream when Mummy and Daddy finished work. Nice family time.❤️

A lazier day today, knee elevated and iced for a wee while. Pasta bolognese and cheesy garlic bread for dinner, Saturday evening TV quizzes 📺, small pleasures!

Thinking of everyone, especially those with illness, worries or sorrow. Wishing you all a peaceful Saturday evening. 🥰

Well done to your DGS soop, such an achievement 👏

Yia pleased to hear you’ve had a good week and hope your DHs tests go ok. A very Happy 18th Birthday to your DGS tomorrow!

Jaxjacky Sat 31-Aug-24 20:13:35

Beautiful soop
Happy Birthday to your grandson Yia it’s Imogen’s 17th, it passes so quickly, we’ll see her and Fin on her day.
Took out the sweet peas earlier, they’ve done well, we’ve had a gloomy day weather wise with a chill in the air.
In about thirty minutes ago from our local, charity day for Cystic Fibrosis, we won a £40 voucher for a decent gastropub.
I hope to see Urms soon.

What a lovely couple of days it has been here in Stirlingshire. Yesterday we had a pleasant walk along the cycle path between Callander and Strathyre and today we walked along the cycle path between Dunblane and Doune with a stop in Doune for coffee and cake before walking back. Both are very flat which suits me just fine. The most steps I have done for ages! Tomorrow doesn’t look so good but should be dry. Good to hear Urms is okay hope she is back posting soon. Well done to your Dgs Soops my Dh was a C.A. they will always need them to do the books! (Not cook them 🤣)

NannyG4 Sat 31-Aug-24 22:22:58

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 31-Aug-24 22:32:31

Hello kitchen people. What a beautiful photo Soop!

Well, apart from doing my ironing and cooking a sausage and pasta dish for dinner, I have been mainly buying things! A bathroom mirror, washing up caddie, book by Craig Brown about the late Queen, Yorkshire pies and a hotel room. My 93-year old uncle died on 11 August and the funeral is on 10 September! It is in Worthing which is over two hours away and I would have to set off very early. OH suggested I book a hotel the night before, so I have done.

I heard from my sister this morning about whether I was going to Australia next February for my brother’s 70th. I think I will do, so need to start looking for flights. He and my sister came for my 70th last year so I should return the favour. His health isn’t good and he isn’t likely to fly to the UK again.

I hope you’re all having a good evening. OH and I have been watching a new series on Netflix about the Greek gods, called Kaos. Quite bizarre.

nannyg4 a difficult day for you today, but with support from your family you will get through it. I’m sure there will be tears, but some smiles too at happy memories of those years together. Your kitchen friends are here for you.
yia I hope Tuesday goes well for your DH and that a treatment plan is proposed for him.
llfl a busy day for you yesterday, buying things! I hope you find a suitable flight to Oz for your brother’s 70th!
Have the best day possible everyone.

Blossoming Sun 01-Sept-24 16:50:42

Good evening dear Kitcheners. I’m hoping to be posting again on a daily basis from now on, even if it’s just to say hello.

I have been dealing with an increasing pile of issues and needed to step away before something broke. On a health front I have had to accept that as I’m unable to stay upright for more than a few minutes without falling there’s no more gadding about for me. This is unlikely to improve.

The shower room project has been considerably slimmed down for speed. I need something to make my life safer and easier for right now and whatever years remain to me.

I’m not complaining or unhappy or regretful. I have a rich life with so much love from friends and family. So many beautiful memories to treasure.

Anyway, that’s the elephant shoved firmly into its place in the corner of this lovely warm Kitchen and we need never mention it again grin

Wishing you all a lovely evening and a restful night. Until tomorrow xxx

Grandmabatty Sun 01-Sept-24 17:44:29

Oh Blossoming that must be really difficult for you. ❤️. Ladyleftfieldlover I watched Kaos yesterday in a big binge. It was excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Today I've made a chicken and cider casserole on the slow cooker, croutons in the oven and four pots of lime curd. I took a little jar and a scone to mum who ate half but was disinclined to talk to me. I left after half an hour of silence even when I asked her something. Sometimes she can be very difficult. I'll have an early night tonight as tomorrow is early childcare day. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners.

brook2704 Sun 01-Sept-24 18:13:45

Lovely to hear from you Blossoming but so sorry to read about your health problems, sending gentle hugs ❤️

Yiayia4 Sun 01-Sept-24 18:18:04

Thinking of you Blossoming 💐

dustyangel Sun 01-Sept-24 18:28:31

I’d been wondering where you were Blosssoming. I’m very sorry to hear of your problems and wish you well in the future.💐

Jaxjacky Sun 01-Sept-24 18:29:43

I’m sorry to hear that Blossoming 🤞on your shower room getting sorted speedily, I’m very pleased to see you return, us kitcheners will hand hold x
NannyG4 a tricky day for you, it’ll be a mixed bag I’m sure, another step on the road ahead, we’re with you x
A very humid day here, the threatened, eagerly awaited storms veered west and missed Hampshire, disappointing - but the jeans dried. Imogen called in with her Mum after their cream tea, we’d had Fin here after his football. I was in the delivery room soon after she was born 17 years ago, time certainly flies, a young lady now..

Grandmabatty Sun 01-Sept-24 19:50:28

Jaxjacky what a lovely young lady Imogen is

Redcar Sun 01-Sept-24 20:58:26

blossoming so sorry to learn that you’re having health problems, and hope your shower room is sorted out quickly.
jax Imogen is lovely, a really young lady now! Here in Essex we’ve been forecast possible showers for two days, but only had the briefest of a shower yesterday morning - lasted about 3 minutes. It doesn’t look as though we’ll get anything tomorrow either.
I’ve spent ages today trying to reprogram the thermostat on the bathroom underfoot heating, so far not very successfully, I may have to get one of my daughters to have a go at it, but hate to admit defeat!
Night night.

brook2704 Sun 01-Sept-24 22:14:30

Such a beautiful picture of Imogen Jax you must all be very proud of her
NannyG4 I hope you’ve managed to get through today ok and your family has been there to support you x

I’ve a similar problem with our bathroom underfloor heating redcar, the thermostat is a mystery to me so I just turn it on and hope for the best!

Charleygirl5 Sun 01-Sept-24 22:31:51

blossoming ahve you a fixed seat in the shower? If not may I suggest you buy a stool from Amazon? I would not have managed without one 10 years ago.

GrannyG4 Luckily you have a lovely family and you managed to get through today with many happy memories.

Today was a perfect day in London, with no torrential rain as promised.

cornergran Sun 01-Sept-24 23:03:20

Good to see you blossoming. If I may I’ll second Charley’s suggestion about a shower seat. We had a fixed one installed with the shower cubicle, it’s fine for me however post surgery Mr C much preferred a stand-alone seat which I do believe arrived courtesy of Amazon.

I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow nannyg4, I’m relieved you have your family to support you.

That is a truly elegant picture of Imogen jax, a lovely young woman. When I see similar of our granddaughters I’m amazed at the passing of time What happened to the 4 and 7 year olds who spent the summer on the beach with us when we moved here. Eleven years on they are both taller than me and have no need of ‘minding’.

Some more worrying news about our friend today. The combined might of Social Services and the hospital discharge team has been unable to locate a suitable home for her which has space. Our goddaughter feels out of options and is distraught. When I think of our friends situation it makes me very thankful that we can be self sufficient. Dementia is such a punishing illness for both sufferer and their family

A grey and damp day here, one for staying indoors. The threatened storms stayed away, a bonus. As we’ve a car full of redundant ‘stuff’ for the recycling centre tomorrow we’re hoping for a dry spell as it will take ages to sort it all into the relevant containers. They multiply and get more confusing each time we go.

Time I settled for sleep. Wishing you all a peaceful night. Sleep well.
