pleased you made it home nannyg4. Firsts are hard, look after yourself flowers.

Grandmab your description of your evening has had me thinking about the times our grandchildren slept over, what special times they are for sure. . All too old to need minding now. They mind us grin.

Spent the morning in the garden, mostly up a ladder taming the climbing roses. Ideal weather. We’re going to have to have a serious re-think - and help. The pergola they climb over has begun to rot and is succumbing to the constant strong winds winds we have here. Doesn’t look as if it will last too much longer. What do we do? Can’t untangle the roses. Mr C thinks we could cut the pergola out from them, I think if we do they will just snap. Oh well lots to think about during the winter. I’m hoping it hangs on for another year, I love those roses. 🤞

Good news you’re nearly at the end sued, you’ve had so much to manage. Hope life is a little less exhausting now.

A wave and a hug to the quiet corner.

Rest well everyone.

‘Evening All’.

It’s 11pm here in Es Caña. We’ve eaten at a Sicilian restaurant this evening and I had a bowl of delicious spaghetti carbonara. Pleasantly warm out, no long sleeves necessary. We ate outside on the small terrace. It was very busy and pretty festooned with tiny lights intertwined amongst the plants.

Time for bed now. x

Cornergran I'm under no illusion that both boys won't want to come to grandma's forever. You are right, this time with them is precious.

Good afternoon kitchen pals, a day of two halves up here in Inverness, this morning was warm and sunny and this afternoon we’ve non stop heavy rain so that’s put paid to the gardening
Soop your kitchen is such a special place, whether sitting quietly in the corner or chatting with others it doesn’t matter at all, we all need quiet time now and again
You’re so right grandmabatty enjoy every minute whilst they’re little - I’m so lucky that mine still enjoy a regular sleepover and none of them are too old for cuddles yet 🤣
Sorry I can’t help with the roses and pergola dilemma corner but I hope you come up with a solution that doesn’t damage the lovely roses - good luck with sorting it out
NannyG4 and Doodle sending a group hug your way ❤️

Good afternoon all.
My friend and I have just arrived and unpacked in our very friendly Premier Inn.
It has rained all day so far but tomorrow promises to be better.
We shall pop over to Bakewell and look round the weekly market, missing out the cattle sales and then over yo Chatsworth for a walk round and a cuppa and cake.
Home on Tuesday afternoon.
A very short break but a welcome one.
Kind thoughts to all who would maybe love a break but it isn’t practical and those not well or caring .

Redcar Sun 15-Sept-24 16:10:54

usedtobeblonde that sounds like a lovely short break. Enjoy!
Suedonim what a relief for you to be almost finished after your flood. Have you unpacked all those boxes now?
It’s been a slightly warmer day here, sunny until about an hour ago, but now it’s cloudy, I doubt we’ll get any rain though. I planted up some bulbs and transplanted some cyclamen plants, just the tulips to go in now, but they can wait until later in the autumn. I think that DD1 has given me her cold! She’s completely wiped out by it, so I hope my version isn’t that bad!
Have a peaceful evening everyone.

Jaxjacky Sun 15-Sept-24 16:34:06

Afternoon all, what started blue skies and sun developed into grey clouds, my walk near some rugby pitches was very autumnal, with enthusiastic supporters shouting in the distance, (not for me)!
In fact the slow cooker is in use for dinner, although it’s not cold; my son and his family called in, his stepdaughter is 12 today, it was good to see them, all tired, busy bees.
I collected some shoes from M&S, really not me, must’ve had an aberration ordering them!
Have a lovely break ann, hope it stays dry for you.
Must get some bulbs Redcar you’ve nudged me.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 15-Sept-24 16:35:28

DD and her boys are here, beef about to go in the oven.

It’s been a warm day and up to now I have been extremely lazy

🙋‍♀️ enjoy your evening

Nannytopsy Sun 15-Sept-24 18:24:18

I can’t believe we have been in this house for 5 years! Today we have started to revisit all our clothes, sorting them into recycle textiles (DH’s clothes- he wears them to the very end!), jumble and some of my old business dress for Smart Works. They supply women with outfits for interviews and need more large sizes. I can provide! We have started to reorganise the storage too. Another couple of days and we will be very smug.
Yes, we too treasure our time with the DGC. At 11, the oldest won’t need us for very many years.
DH has made a curry. He says it’s on the border of what he can eat. Not much chance for me then 🤨.
Enjoy your evening

Evening Kitcheners’.

I took this photo at 6pm. We were enjoying a sundowner (G&T for me, coffee for Himself) before coming up to shower ready for dinner this evening. I do love the late afternoon Spanish sun when the rays are warm but mellow.

Enjoy your holiday Anne do you take your mobility scooter?

Grandmabatty Sun 15-Sept-24 19:07:32

Good evening Kitcheners. Lovely view FGT I could do with a little warmth here. Jaxjacky my slow cooker has been busy with a chilli today. I've just had some and it was very tasty. Nannytopsy I've been in my bungalow for nearly six years. It's hard to imagine sometimes.
Today dgs1 and I went to the garden centre for breakfast. He got a milkshake as a treat then he 'helped' me buy bulbs and plants for winter flowering. He also managed to put an autumn troll/gonk in the trolley, autumn leaf candles, autumn leaves to make a wreath, a book and a jigsaw. Mummy picked him up at twelve and I promptly lay down. I have been up since six and awake for two hours in the night. I'm sorry to say that mum didn't get a visit today. Hopefully I'll feel like it tomorrow evening. I have a need for a lime curd bun, the last in the packet, so that, cans a cuppa shortly then bed. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners

GrannyGravy13 Sun 15-Sept-24 19:08:14

Beautiful photo FGT2 enjoy your dinner.

Family have gone home, dining room and kitchen are clean, dishwasher on.

I have lit candles in the sitting room, snuggled on the sofa ready to watch Grace 🙋‍♀️

GrannyGravy13 Sun 15-Sept-24 20:33:06

Just given up on Grace, as an asthmatic I cannot watch it as it has all my phobias in one go.

Jaxjacky Sun 15-Sept-24 21:07:09

Oh GG13 that must be scary, we’re watching, if you don’t find out I’ll pm you a précis minus those bits.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 15-Sept-24 21:24:16

Just a quick hello kitchen people. I’ve gone to bed early. I’ve felt under the weather all day. Sleep tight💤.

cornergran Sun 15-Sept-24 23:15:50

Back from a day over the bridge. Left in sunshine, drove into cloud and then rain. Disappointing. Visited Mr C’s parents in the cemetery, it’s a fascinating place, very old. We leave silk flowers and try to visit three times a year. Realised today with the best will in the world we may visit less in future, we find it exhausting. Some lunch, picked up shopping for our friend and spent the afternoon together before the drive home. 90 minutes each way with some tricky roads at the Welsh end. To think we used to do it without a care in the world. Now it feels a mountain to climb. No matter, we’ll break out the crampons and continue as long as we can.

Hope you feel better tomorrow ladylfl.

We’ve been here for eleven years, the time has flown. It’s odd, some days feel like a year while a year passes in a flash. Still sorting and changing, not sure it ever stops.

We were at Chatsworth earlier in the year ann, fabulous place, loved the house and grounds, a lot of walking though. Very kind staff and volunteers. Stayed in Buxton, enjoyed it all. Hope it works out for you.

Time for sleep if I can. Rest well everyone. TOYA.

hulahoop Mon 16-Sept-24 11:25:20

Hope you are feeling better lady lfl.Lovely photo FGT2.
My chiropady lady has just left so I'm walking on air.
GranyGravy I thought at least he let her use her inhaler !! Hope this sunshine continues into next week when we are away.

Yiayia4 Mon 16-Sept-24 16:34:12

Hello Kitcheners.Trying to catch up with you all.
Hope your enjoying your break Anne, Chatsworth is not far from my DS and new DIL,

DH has had all the tests at last!We have been told by the anaesthetist that it looks like the operation will go ahead. He told us that it is risky and DH will be put in intensive care afterwards. This is all to be confirmed by the surgeon when we see him on the 23rd.Its all very scary but I hope it will go ahead soon, the waiting is worse.
Hope you get some news soon Soop
Thinking of you all.

Jaxjacky Mon 16-Sept-24 17:38:12

Good the tests are all done Yia, it must be very scary, but trusting the experts is the only way, we’re all supporting you.

Phones today stymied by our database being down. Sunshine appeared late morning after a cloudy start, its glorious, MrJ filled up the green bin.
Quiz tonight, we’re down to three in the team, hopes are not raised. I’ll catch up here later.

Grandmabatty Mon 16-Sept-24 17:57:56

Good evening Kitcheners. It turned out to be a lovely sunny day here. Yiayia fingers crossed for your DH.
Dgs2 was on good form today. He got a star sticker for helping to tidy up the playgroup. Dgs1 was also good. I managed to fill two big pots with winter flowering pansies. Tomorrow is the turn of other winter flowering plants. I'll do the bulbs on Wednesday.
I'm feeling very tired tonight so I'll heat up the chilli and rice and then an early night. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners.

brook2704 Mon 16-Sept-24 17:59:04

Good afternoon kitchen pals, it’s been a lovely warm sunny day here in Inverness. I’m just in from a volunteering session which I really enjoyed. Quick and easy chicken & salad for dinner later
Worrying times ahead Yia but hopefully your DH will do well and be on the road to recovery soon. Take care both of you 💐
Good luck with the quiz tonight Jax
I remember Chatsworth well, such lovely gardens - I hope to return one day

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 16-Sept-24 18:18:56

An early ‘Evening All’ from Es Caña. The days are racing along now. Home on Friday and it’s coming round quick.

Himself is in the shower. I’m about to dry my hair using my hot brush. Some mousse (my hair is fine) and I’m soon done. Black and gold wide leg cropped trousers and a gold stretchy ‘V’ neck top that travels well, doesn’t crease and doesn’t owe me anything. Actually I bought it from here when I think on. Many years ago!

We’ve booked a table in our favourite restaurant - it was so busy on Saturday night with locals we had no chance. Booked to be on the safe side but bet we could just stroll in this evening!

GrannyGravy13 Mon 16-Sept-24 18:35:16

DH is out, I have the sitting remote all to myself.

The Imp was good today, the workmen have restored one of our bedrooms, new wooden flooring, re plastered, new coving and skirting, rebuilt the wardrobes. Now I need to make up the bed and look for a new mirror and some pictures for the walls.

As they departed we all wished each other a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year (jokingly) they will be back March/April when the really intrusive work starts…

YiaYia4 thinking of you both 🌸

GrannySomerset Mon 16-Sept-24 19:14:46

The electrician has been here all day and we now meet the highest standards for electrical installation and I am considerably poorer but very pleased with a job well done. Just hoping there are no more expensive jobs needed!
