yiayia I hope you don’t have to wait too long for a date for your DH’s operation. soop I hope you have some news soon about mr soop’s operation.
fgt2 I hope you have a lovely meal in your favourite restaurant!
I’m still waiting for the electrician to give me a date when he’s going to start doing the work in my house and garage.
I cleaned the shower tray and cleared out the plug, not my favourite task, but it does look better now. Will sweep and wash the floor tomorrow.
I waited in all afternoon for someone to come and collect something my daughter had advertised on our local freebie website, but no-one came! I’m hoping she will take it back & either advertise it on her local freebie website, or give it to a charity shop! Meanwhile it’s cluttering up my hall and is too heavy for me to move.
Hope you do well in the quiz jax.
Have a peaceful evening everyone.

cornergran Mon 16-Sept-24 20:42:09

Waiting is hard yia. flowers.

Good day here. We wandered to a sort of safari park on foot. Weather just right, fairly quiet, many places to sit. Nothing not to like. We should sleep well tonight.

Rest well everyone. TOYA.

Doodle Mon 16-Sept-24 21:02:41

Thinking of you Yia and wishing you and your DH all the best.

Grannmarie Mon 16-Sept-24 21:16:43

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. Special thoughts to those in the quiet corner. 💕

Grandmabatty, I've put up my autumn door wreaths, you inspired me! I'm not sure where my windowsill pumpkins are
hiding though, must brave ' the glory hole', otherwise known as the cupboard under the stairs.
YiaYia, glad to hear that your DH will soon have his operation, hoping and praying for successful surgery. 🙏 Thinking of you both.
Brook, your riverside walk reminded me of many years ago, when my sisters and I enjoyed a Murdrer Mystery break in a nice hotel on the River Ness, looking across towards the new shopping centre. Lovely area.
Ladyleftfieldlover, I hope your early night has restored you to good health.
UsedToBeBlonde, sounds like you are having an enjoyable break, hope the weather stays dry for you.
Cornergran, take care up your ladder! I could climb a ladder until fairly recently, my balance is not so good now.
GrannySomerset, I'm glad your electrician did a good job for you. I've an expensive job booked for tomorrow, a large tree is being removed. Needs must...
That sounds like a lovely new bedroom, GG13. It was sunny and dry here so I stripped the beds and cleaned the rooms. It takes me ages now, I keep having to stop for a wee break. Washing dried on the line, I'll iron tomorrow while I'm waiting in for the TreeMan.
Lovely photos, FGT, enjoy the rest of your holidays.
Redcar, your cyclamen sound beautiful, such an elegant wee plant. I've bought some heathers, need to look for winter pansies and some mixed bulbs to create some winter colours around where the tree was.
Hulahoop, I'm glad your chiropody lady has do e a good job. Sore feet are no joke!
Nannytopsy, great to hear that your clothes can go to such a good cause. Reminds me to fill a charity bag....
Jaxjacky, sorry the technology let you down today. Hope you enjoy your quiz.
SueD, great to hear that all your repair works are coming to an end, you've been very patient.

My TV 📺 quizzes are recorded and waiting, but I'm going to return to the new BBC Scotland drama, set on the Glasgow to London overnight train, Nightsleeper, which started last night...I'm hooked, I've watched the first three episodes already! The drama begins not a million miles from here, a few local place names are mentioned. My nephew is a trainee train driver, I wonder if he's watching?

Wishing everyone a peaceful Sunday evening, please forgive me if I haven't mentioned you by name, I've read all your posts now. * TOYA, NNGB*.

Grannmarie Mon 16-Sept-24 21:19:41

Hello 👋 Doodle, crossed posts! Thinking of you, be gentle with yourself, take it one day at a time.
Kind thoughts to NannyG4, Baggs, and all those with sorrow, worries or illness. 🙏💕

Nannytopsy Mon 16-Sept-24 21:58:17

We are watching Nightsleeper too, Grannmarie. The quizzes are recorded for the ironing session

Jaxjacky Mon 16-Sept-24 22:32:18

Average on quiz, no prizes.
Missing llfl and Blossoming I hope they are both ok.
Nighsleeper we missed watching Grace and we’re out tomorrow too, but we’ll get there eventually.
An enjoyable meal FGT? worth waiting for I expect.
Goodnight all, sleep tight 😴

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 16-Sept-24 22:43:44

Hello JJ and other kitchen people. I’m here!

I feel much better today. I did a Waitrose shop, the cleaner came this morning and the gardener this afternoon.

After dinner OH had things to do on his computer and I watched an old Poirot.

Sleep 💤 tight.

brook2704 Mon 16-Sept-24 23:13:19

Another one here enjoying Nightsleeper! We’ve watched 2 episodes and I’m hooked …

Naughtyneine Tue 17-Sept-24 08:58:56

An early visit today. Covid now a distant memory apart from tiredness so I'm going to try and get back to the gym today. The last of our planned visitors came this weekend ( it's been a steady flow all summer). We were really lucky with the weather...the sun shone on both days for visits to the Donkey Sanctuary and the Seaton tram and a walk to the local National Trust site too. I didn't have to cook other than bacon sandwiches on Sunday and that was a real treat. I love cooking but do feel I miss out sometimes as even though I prep beforehand there is always the last few bits that need doing. Yesterday the gym called to me and I ignored it as the sun lounger called more loudly and I spent the afternoon sprawled out on it. I couldn't be bothered to go and find a bikini either so just whipped off my leggings and top. What a tart I hear you mutter.....I know but we are not overlooked and my underwear has to match so had anyone seen me it would have sort have looked as if I had a bikini on...albeit a very lacy one.
Last night we started a new course on A Biblical Walk through the Mass. ( Grandmarie you may have heard of it). I think I am going to enjoy it very much....it is going to explain the meanings behind what we say and do during Mass and for a cradle Catholic that can sometimes be lost in routine.
Grandmabatty...I did smile at your little one adding to your shopping basket. It reminded me of the time I took the twins and their little brother to buy items to go in Christmas shoe boxes to be sent abroad. They had £10 each and we went to Poundland.. J had an utter melt down when I told him that I didn't think a book on the history of London Buses was maybe what a little boy in Romania might like to find in his Christmas Box. ( J is autistic and had a fascination with trains and buses and could tell me exactly how to get from A to B anywhere in London so for him the book was the best thing ever). T on the other hand was into ( and probably still is) techy stuff and proclaimed that a little boy or girl would absolutely love a usb charging point with extra long cable. !!!!!

Yia...I can't even imagine what this time is like for you all and I hope and pray that the visit on the 23rd is as reassuring as can possibly be and will be praying all goes well.
Sue D...in my thoughts and prayers too.

Well I've bored you all enough I'm sure...so no excuse I'm off to the gym.... That's if I can drive past the garden centre.

Naughtyneine Tue 17-Sept-24 09:01:58

Oops...meant to put....Hi to everyone else too.

brook2704 Tue 17-Sept-24 13:28:24

Good afternoon kitchen pals, I’m just home from aerobics at the gym and then a walk through the Ness islands into town to catch the bus home. DH and I just share the one car between us and he needed it more than me - hence the bus home! It’s a very quick lunch and then I’m off out again soon to meet up with a group of lovely ladies at the local Dobbies garden centre - all go today!
Lovely to see you again neine and hope you and your DH are doing ok
Sending gentle hugs to all in the quiet corner, take care all 💐

Yiayia4 Tue 17-Sept-24 15:52:56

Thank you all for your kind words it really does help.
Loving Nightsleeper Grannmarie very hard not to watch it all at once.
Blossoming 🌹

Jaxjacky Tue 17-Sept-24 17:39:41

A late afternoon from a sunny S Hampshire, a cool wind though, washed my car earlier and I had cold hands in and out of water. Made a couple of chatty phone calls, then a tedious one to last years car breakdown company who auto renewed us, I’d specifically said no thanks.
Finished up the voluntary work from yesterday, it’s the AGM of the group tonight, I hope it keeps to time.
Hugs to those having turbulent times 🌹

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 17-Sept-24 19:30:19

‘Evening All’.

We’ve been into Santa Eulalia by bus, €3 each, and enjoyed tapas at our favourite bar, the Royalty. Opened in 1933, this café on the main street of Santa Eulalia has become the perfect place to sit outside at one of the pavement tables and watch the comings and goings in this small town. It was wonderful to be back.

Afterwards I bought a chic straw and leather clutch which cost as much as our lunch but it called to me from a boutique as we passed.

Redcar Tue 17-Sept-24 20:12:58

Good evening everyone. It’s dark already, but with a narrow band of red sky out west, so a good day again tomorrow 🤞.

fgt2 the clutch sounds very chic, what a good thing you heard it calling you!
neine we spent many happy holidays at a caravan & camping site near the donkey sanctuary. Walking round the sanctuary was our after dinner walk in the evenings. Happy Days.
I finished cleaning the shower room this morning, and then started coughing. I know it’s only a cold and my nose is clearing now, but I seem to have coughed all day. Hope I don’t cough all night too! I didn’t go to see my friend with dementia as I didn’t want to pass the cold either to her or her husband. So I just sat and read this afternoon, but why do I feel guilty about doing that?
Have a peaceful evening everyone.

Doodle Tue 17-Sept-24 20:21:29

Thank you Grannmarie . Sending a gentle hug to all who need one.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 17-Sept-24 20:57:27

Hello kitchen people.
A strange and annoying sort of day. First my car failed its MOT. Apparently the handbrake isn’t working well enough. Hopefully they’ll fix it tomorrow and then retest it. I also felt quite under the weather. Very sleepy with a bad cold. I was supposed to be meeting friends this afternoon but one of them is still recovering from cancer treatment. I rang her and she agreed that I should stay home. So I did. I managed to cook dinner - left over Bol and left over chocolate sticky toffee pudding.

OH is at his shooting club so I’m relaxing on the sofa. Have a good evening, especially those of you who are suffering.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 17-Sept-24 21:19:19

Swimming lessons with The Imp and his brother were stressful, on the sofa watching My Mum Your Dad with a glass of wine.

Please don’t judge me 🤣🍾

Jaxjacky Tue 17-Sept-24 21:33:52

Certainly don’t judge the wine GG13 🥂🙂
I hope your tree removal was successful Grannmarie ‘ timber’.
The meeting was fine, a good chair kept to time and it was great to put faces to phone calls.
A stunning moon on the way home.

NannyG4 Tue 17-Sept-24 22:52:11

Thinking of you Yiayia and your DH, the waiting is hard, you're in my prayers.
Sending love to you all. This thread is priceless... Such lovely, kind and caring people, considering we may never meet, wouldn't it be lovely if we could, we are all helping each other in our own way.... Smell the roses 🌹🌹

Catterygirl Wed 18-Sept-24 00:16:17

Hello Soupers. I haven’t been here for a while. Cataract operations etc. I so hope people with medical issues are recovering well.

Grandmabatty Wed 18-Sept-24 15:20:18

Catterygirl I hope the cataract surgery went well. I'm on the list to get mine done. Jaxjacky the moon was stunning last night, wasn't it? Grannygravy my sympathy. Ofttimes I could reach for the gin during the day when the boys are acting up. Needless to say, I don't! But a wine in the evening should help.
Today got off to a rushed start as I completely forgot about a chiropodist appointment and had to get organised very quickly. Today I have planted up the rest of the winter flowers and also planted alliums and tulips in pots. I've run out of compost so the grape hyacinth and daffodils will need to wait for another day. I also weeded and pulled out the dead sweet peas. I'm having a cuppa and then I'll tackle the ironing. Spaghetti bolognaise later. Enjoy this beautiful afternoon kitcheners.

brook2704 Wed 18-Sept-24 17:54:24

Hi to all kitchen pals, it’s been a really beautiful sunny day here in Inverness not a cloud in the sky. We went for a long beach walk around Rosemarkie bay up to the dolphin spotting area at Chanonry Point, there weren’t any dolphins around today but we saw lots of people and a couple of seals. We sat in a beach cafe overlooking the water, there were a few brave souls swimming in the sea but definitely not me!
GG13 sounds like a good evening to me watching my mum your dad and a glass of wine
Another busy day grandmabatty sounds like your garden will be lovely with the bulbs and planters. I’ve still to get my autumn / winter containers sorted so you’re well ahead of me
I agree nannyG4 such a lovely kitchen to hang out
Hope you’re doing ok catterygirl lovely to see you here
Love to the soops and everyone else in the quiet corner just now ❤️

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 18-Sept-24 19:06:19

‘Evening All’.

Our penultimate evening. The last couple of days have raced past. Going down for dinner in half an hour. It’s a bit chilly so I shall wear my denim jacket over my sleeveless dress. If we find a cosy corner in the restaurant I’ll be able to remove it. 😊

We’ve become addicted to Cart d’Or banana split ice creams!
