Fingers crossed you’re recovering Catterygirl and you now have an MOT’d car llfl.
Beautiful brook, really lovely, I’ve not planted bulbs yet, still have one tub and basket determinedly hanging on, but the cucumber plant has finished.
I’ve been in and out of the patio door today, washing out, then moving it about as the sun moved around, cleaned the yucky soap draw in the w machine. Then the outside window sills, front door and wall mounted letter box, lots of webs and dead bugs.
We then went for a drink with our friend who’s a butcher and were literally talking turkey, sorry! Got to plan ahead, that’s the ex project manager me speaking.
You’re right NannyG4 if only.

Redcar Wed 18-Sept-24 20:38:24

What a lovely sunny day, I sat in the garden this afternoon with an ice cream & pretended I was on holiday!
I had a disturbed night last night, coughing a lot & my hip was uncomfortable. I’m seeing a consultant about it tomorrow. DD1 is taking me so I am staying at hers tonight, we’re coughing in unison!
After the hospital in the morning i’ll go home & do some gardening.
jax I’m not ready to talk turkey yet, but depending on when I have my hip operation I may have to start thinking about Christmas cards etc!
Have a peaceful evening everyone.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 18-Sept-24 22:25:02

Hello kitchen people. I still haven’t got my car back. I’ll ring the garage in the morning.

We went out for the U3A monthly lunch. It was fun and the food was good. We met at a pub which we hadn’t been to before.

OH went to a meeting of his Bee Keepers group this evening and had another meal out. I had a small piece of quiche and watched a couple of episodes of Fleabag.

Have a good evening, especially those of you with difficulties.

soop Wed 18-Sept-24 22:37:32

Special thoughts winging their way to dear Yia and all of our Kitcheners with concerns and sorrows.

Still waiting for the appointment with Mr Soop's new surgeon. He does have an appointment in a fortnight for a scan on his abdominal aortic aneurysm.

I've been busying myself with a drastic wardrobe clear out. At times, I've wondered why on earth I thought that it was a good idea. However, after two long afternoons of sorting/discarding/and making two piles of clothing to go to the Red Cross and the Salvation Army, I realise that, what no longer fits me may very well be of use to others.

Tomorrow's session will involve emptying the chest of drawers. After which, I hope to reorganise the so-called office. It takes my mind off the anxious waiting for Mr Soop's scalp surgery. Once we have a date, we'll both feel much more positive.

I do think about you lovely lot throughout the day. You are very important peoples (as our wee grandson used to say).

By the way, after an absence of a little over a month, our feral cat, known as Sweetie Pie has visited twice today. He banqueted on the finest feline food before strolling away into the forest. He always leaves us with a smile on our faces.

Goodnight and sleep tight. smile

brook2704 Wed 18-Sept-24 22:56:33

Goodnight soop and so lovely to hear that SweetiePie has been visiting ❤️

brook2704 Thu 19-Sept-24 13:35:02

Good afternoon kitchen pals, it’s another gorgeous warm sunny day here in Inverness. I’ve been pottering in the garden all morning, just in now to get changed before doing the school pickup later
Hope your cough is a bit better today redcar and your appointment went well this morning
Love to the soops and everyone sitting in the quiet corner ❤️

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 19-Sept-24 16:33:28

Milo isn’t allowed on my bed during the day.

My car isn’t ready yet. Lots of apologies and the excuse that they got behind. I said that I look forward to hearing tomorrow that it’s ready for me to collect!

I dropped off two dresses with the seamstress today. I need the hems turning up. We are going on a cruise next month and they will be perfect for the evening for dinner.

Have a good evening.

Hellogirl1 Thu 19-Sept-24 17:19:25

Milo obviously takes a lot of notice of you, lol!

Redcar Thu 19-Sept-24 17:40:05

brook thank you, my cough is better today and the hospital appointment went well, although the examination of my hip was uncomfortable. (Doctor speak for b****y painful!) I didn’t do any gardening this afternoon, didn’t want to push my luck with it. I saw my friend with dementia instead. The garden still needs attention, maybe tomorrow. It’s been another warm sunny day again, but I was sitting indoors with my friend, who gave me a lovely smile when I went in.
llfl I hope you get your car back soon.
soop I hope you hear about mr soop’s operation soon, otherwise you’ll have no clothes left to wear! I find it hard to part with any clothes, even if I haven’t worn them in years, and in some cases there’s no way I’d be able to get into them.
Hope everyone has a peaceful evening.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 19-Sept-24 17:54:30

‘Evening All’.

Up from poolside after a lovely last day, relaxing and reading. Bought these new sliders for €10 I love them - they will be coming out to Málaga with me when we next go.

Packing now - easio. Throw everything in the case. Dinner at our favourite restaurant we’ve booked a table.

LLFL seeing that photo of Milo and your first sentence really made me laugh!

GrannySomerset Thu 19-Sept-24 18:20:38

Love the picture of the entitled Milo and am glad to know that cats still rule despite human edicts. Have a lovely evening, FGT2, and smooth and problem free journey home. Thinking of the Soops especially.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 19-Sept-24 18:39:43

Milo rules the roost LLFL

Enjoy your meal FGT2

The 9 yr old GS is working his way through a dinner of pulled pork, fries, coleslaw and cucumber (yes we spoil him)

When he is finished I shall start preparing our dinner (Thai Green Curry)

soop we are all keeping everything crossed for mr.soop

Jaxjacky Thu 19-Sept-24 18:57:21

Hi all, a lovely warm, but windy day, very pleasant. Have a great evening FGS and a smooth journey back.
I can understand the distraction soop any day soon I hope you’ll hear.
My first chiropractor appointment today, assessment of my back, some poking about and a conclusion. It’s my gluteus medius causing the problem, hips (sorry Redcar) and knees are good, I’m very flexible all round apparently. I’ve got exercises to do and need a cushion to keep my spine straight whilst sleeping, MrJ sat and occasionally smirked!!
Fingers crossed for your car llfl the wind caught my car door today and the car next to me was dented, note left and he rang me, thanks for being honest.
Omelettes tonight, an easy meal, enjoy your evenings.

Grandmabatty Thu 19-Sept-24 18:57:47

Evening Kitcheners. Enjoy your final meal of the holiday FGT. It sounds like you have had a lovely time. Ladyleftfieldlover love Milo! Soop I'm thinking of you both. Redcar that does sound extremely painful. Poor you.
I was taken out for my birthday lunch by a dear friend and we spent the afternoon back at her house blethering. Lunch was an enormous club sandwich with chips so dinner tonight was a small cheese omelette. I have had lots of lovely messages and gifts for my 66th birthday. I feel quite blessed. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners

Redcar Thu 19-Sept-24 19:57:45

grandmabatty I hope it’s not too late to wish you a Happy Birthday. It sounds as though you’ve had an enjoyable day.
My hip is slowly recovering from its “exercise” this morning, I hope for a better sleep tonight. jax I’m glad for your sake that it’s not your hip that’s the problem, but the gluteus medius looks like a fairly big muscle and can obviously cause a lot of pain. I hope the exercises help.

Enjoy the evening everyone.

Grannmarie Thu 19-Sept-24 21:54:27

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people, from wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen! 🎶🎵 Childhood memories of Danny Kaye! My sisters and I flew from Edinburgh this morning for a wee girlie weekend. Our hotel is central, very smart and comfortable. We have a pretty balcony overlooking the city centre, a mix of beautiful historic buildings, and construction! We did the HOHO bus tour this afternoon to get our bearings, we'll do the boat tour tomorrow. What a stunning city, very clean and prosperous looking, no signs of graffiti, closed down shops or poor souls begging. We'll see more tomorrow. Lovely weather too!🌞

Soop, thinking of you and MrSoop, glad to hear that Sweetie Pie graced you with a visit.
Ladyleftfieldlover, I laughed out loud at Milo... cats definitely rule!
Grandmabatty, many happy returns, I hope you've had a wonderful day.
Redcar, glad your consultation went well, hope you're more comfortable now.
Jaxjacky , hope the chiropractor visit helps your back. My tree removal didn't happen! Hopefully next week. 🤞
Neine, good to see you in the kitchen. I'm not familiar with your course but it sounds very interesting.
brook, glad you got a nice sunny day for the garden. We always feel better and brighter in the sunshine. ☀
Safe journey home, FGT, best wishes to you and Himself.
Thinking of YiaYia and DH, Blossoming, and all with illness, worries or sorrow.

TOYA, NNGB.

Nannytopsy Thu 19-Sept-24 21:57:32

Hello!
I hope Jax & Redcar have comfortable nights with their hips. I had a phone conversation with a hip consultant earlier in the week who told me to accept that people don’t always get the retirement they expected. I admit that I did let go at that and point out it’s our generation of retirees who keep everything going. I am really very cross at his attitude.
I’m still waiting for a knee date.
We have gutted the study this week, tomorrow we move on to the bedrooms. Like soop, I have piles of clothes waiting for jumble/charity. Then it’s the garden…

soop Thu 19-Sept-24 22:51:02

Before I flop into to my bed, I just wanted to say that I am so grateful for Granspals such as you lovely lot.

I have filled six sacks and a box of rootled out items which are to be shared between the Red Cross, the Salvation Army and the local school. I've also given the so-called office a major make-over.

My very best wishes to every one of our Kitcheners, especially those in need of extra tender loving care. smile

cornergran Thu 19-Sept-24 23:22:25

A late visit, better late than never as the saying goes. .

Wow soop you’ve been busy. Sounds a perfect day grandmab, pleased you enjoyed it. I’d have been furious nannyt as I was with a GP who told me some years ago that at my age I must expect to be unwell. Really? Hope things get better for you and others waiting for knees and hips to be sorted very soon.

Sounds wonderful granmarie as does your break fgt. I’m envious of your tan. The sun has been shining here today as it has all week. I’m not thinking about the storms forecast for tomorrow and Saturday. Yesterday would have been my Mums birthday and somehow all my memories are of taking her out in sunshine.

We stayed home today and I caught up with the admin then began the tedious and worrying search for another year of car insurance. Mr C caused some levity when he apologised for being over 80, unless he can turn the clock back we don’t want the alternative. Gave us both a giggle. I’ll press on at the weekend, it truly does seem a case of think of a number and double it. Makes me cross.

There was a half an hour stroll before lunch to get my spine moving again after sitting all morning. With lively young cows in the fields across the river it seemed best to stay our side, nosey creatures always approach people. When we walked back one looked as if they were about to open the gate to the river footbridge, of course it couldn’t but it made us aware we’ve no idea which farm they belong to - might be an idea to find out, just in case.

Time I tried for sleep. There have been some disturbed nights lately, I’m hoping the pattern will break tonight.

Goodnight all. Sleep well,

Belated Happy Birthday for yesterday Grandmabatty....it's amazing how quickly those 4 weeks come round and your bank account is added to... enjoy.
Redcar....ouch ouch ouch...I remember those examinations so well....it wasn't until I was actually operated on that the consultant realised my hip was grade 4 bone on bone...I thought my face while he was manhandling my right hip could have told him that....
Jax...fingers crossed that the exercises help...pain is so debilitating when it is constant.
NannyT...how rude is that...what are we supposed to do ? Give up any hope of fun pain free times once we get past 65? Yes it's to be expected that bits are not going to work as well as in our younger days but we don't need to be written off by a 12 year old who thinks he knows it all. Grrrrrr.
Grandmarie....enjoy your trip...I think Denmark is one of those countries that are said to be the happiest places to live along with Finland too. They have the life balance right it seems.
Corner...I feel your pain....3 hours on the phone yesterday changing the broadband back to sky and reducing the TV package as we really don't need all the channels we had before. All that's left to do now is change my phone over to either O2 or Vodafone as they have the best signal here. The car insurance is due in Nov so a slight breather before I start looking into that...
Soop... That's exactly the kind of thing I'd do to distract myself too. The only trouble is I'd then gradually buy bits to fill in the gaps. I hope you get the news you are waiting for very soon. Hugs for you both.
I've loved the Indian summer this week.... I've been in the garden ( my happy place) at every available opportunity....popping in pansies and cyclamen between the summer bedding that's still flowering... gathering lupin and sweet pea seeds and pinching myself that this is our life now....the sadness at not having my children or Grandchildren in my life still overwhelms me unexpectedly at times...twice this week...in Asda I stopped to talk to a baby who was sobbing uncontrollably ... he stopped and gave me the biggest smile and my throat felt like it closed over as I walked away trying as hard as I could not to cry. On the Repair Shop too...a young girl who was expecting her first baby bought in a teddy that had belonged to her Mum who had died in a fire....she spoke with such love about her that I wept wondering if my daughters remember the love and fun we shared. Life certainly is a roller coaster ride isn't it.
Safe journey FGT2... and hopefully LLFL you will be mobile again soon!!!!

Grannmarie our eldest GC lives and works in Copenhagen.

We were hoping after college they would return to the UK, but they are happy there and that is the main thing.
