yiayia fingers crossed that your DH has his operation soon.
fgt2 have a lovey time in your happy place.
GG13, how lovely that the staff appreciated The Imp’s kindness and good manners.
brook nice that your DGS still likes a cuddle in the mornings!
Have a good and dry evening everyone.

Grannmarie Mon 23-Sept-24 19:31:44

Good evening, ,*Soop and lovely Kitchen people*. 🥰

YiaYia, thank you for your update. I hope your DH'S operation takes place soon, waiting is hard but at least you know a bit more now. Thinking of you both, also The Soops, Blossoming and all those with health worries.

Grandmabatty, your poor wee boy with the scoots! Glad he recovered quickly. I love how his big brother is kind to him, then they start bickering again, sounds like my younger two sons, they had 3 years between them.

Sounds like a lovely sleepover, brook. I still get cuddles from DGS1, he's 17, over 6ft now and just started Uni. I'm glad things went well at your eye check up.
I'd definitely recommend Copenhagen!🇩🇰

Grannygravy, that's a lovely comment on your wee Imp's first day at school. The Wee Boy's teacher said something similar to DDIL2 at their Meet the Teacher, she said he was very kind to a wee boy with selective mutism in the class, sitting with him at lunch and playing together outside.

Jaxjacky, you're ahead of me with your winter bedding! Violas are so pretty, I love them and winter pansies. I'll get some soon to plant with some heathers around the area of the tree. It is now booked to be removed on Wednesday. 🤞Good luck for your quiz!

Wishing everyone a peaceful Monday evening. I've done all the washing, been to the pool for my knee physio, settling down now for the 📺 quizzes.

Hello kitchen people.

First, I’m thinking of those of you waiting for important appointments, going on holiday Or generally down in the dumps.

I popped round to see some friends this morning. J is basically unwell and his wife is waiting for a hip replacement in November. She is in so much pain and the wait on the NHS would have been unbearable so she’s gone private,

OH didn’t visit his bees today. The rain would have made them rather tetchy!

I mentioned the rat on the Morning post! Milo and Ripley had left me the present of a dead rat on the kitchen floor. They’ve brought in squirrels, baby rabbits, birds and mice but the rat was a first. I couldn’t wait two hours for OH to get up so I had to deal with it. My tummy churned.

My new online course at the V&A starts tomorrow (Art History) so I spent some time setting up Teams. I look forward to doing more in person courses from next year. I have done lots but covid put a stop to it. They are just getting back into them.

Have a good evening. We will watch Only Connect and then while OH watches Match of the Day I’ll start reading Craig Brown’s book on the late Queen.

Doodle Mon 23-Sept-24 19:52:49

NannyG4 friends can be a big bonus can’t they. Hope you had a nice lunch and supper.
Yiayia I hope and pray everything goes smoothly for your DH and he gets his appointment soon.
Love to the Soops and everyone.

‘Evening All’.

We are just back from the 6 o’clock club (our lovely neighbours but two call it that) where we are invited to drop in any evening apart from weekends. It’s a loose, friendly arrangement. Helped my mental health enormously last summer occasionally when times were tough as you can imagine.

We had a good natter and some laughs while I enjoyed two glasses of merlot and Himself sipped a bottle of AF beer.

Home half an hour ago. We’ve got our pj’s on, Alexa for Smooth Radio and I’ve just made Himself a roast beef sandwich. Life is good for now and I don’t take such simple pleasures for granted any more.

We are off to our happy place in Málaga tomorrow. Taxi booked for 1pm, one small grip bag in the hall and keys and passports my cross body bag. 😊

Grannmarie Mon 23-Sept-24 20:34:40

Oh, Ladyleftfieldlover, you're very brave to deal with a rat, well done you!

Hello 👋 Doodle, good to see you.

FGT, best wishes to you both for a wonderful time in your Happy Place, safe journey. 🌞

brook2704 Mon 23-Sept-24 21:22:31

Have a lovely holiday FGT 😎😎

Nannytopsy Mon 23-Sept-24 21:32:49

Bon voyage FGT! I have 2 boxes and 2 black bags already in the car for the charity shop. If we do the bottle bank as well, that will be very satisfying!
We have even cleaned out a big kitchen cupboard. There are still plenty more to clean out!
I’m sure I shall get a date for my knee soon, and I really hope for a call this week, so I am trying to get lots done. Surely the hospital will know the October theatre dates by this Friday??

Grandmabatty Mon 23-Sept-24 21:53:56

Have a lovely time FGT. You and your dear man.

NannyG4 Mon 23-Sept-24 22:16:10

Good Evening lovely ladies.
Yia…I’m pleased to hear you’re one step nearer to your DH having surgery, I pray it’s not too long, for you both……
Soop I hope you have news soon too.
I’ve been into London today to meet up with an old friend…we had a lovely catch up over lunch. Not a good start to my journey though, as I was walking up the steps at the station I tripped and fell my full length….not one person came to help me, that’s when I became upset and thought about DH, he would have picked me up and made sure I was okay, I feel very vulnerable without him. Anyway I got up and sorted myself out, just a bruised hand fortunately…..
Tomorrow we have a MacMillan Coffee Morning at our church, I’ll be helping serve cakes and coffee……I really enjoy the company.
Thank you to you ALL for your kind words, you are all so friendly and supportive.
Please take care and my love and prayers to each and everyone of you. Smell the 🌹 🌹

NannyG4 Mon 23-Sept-24 22:17:27

FGT….. enjoy your holiday 🌞🌞

Catterygirl Mon 23-Sept-24 23:58:47

As soon as I saw you, I had to pop in. Miserable news everywhere else.
Nanny G4 Sorry no one helped you up. How mean.

cornergran Tue 24-Sept-24 00:45:41

Bon voyage FGT. Your happy place will welcome you.

Hope that date comes soon yia and for you too nannyt. Oh heck nannyg4, not what you wanted or needed, you coped well although understandably upsetting. Look after your hand.

It’s been a very wet day here today. Looked at a large bag of charity shop donations in a paper carrier bag and decided it had best stay where it was. It would have disintegrated. Hoping for better things tomorrow, nope I mean today. Would love it to be on its way along with another large bag containing curtains and a matching duvet set.

Mr C navigated the car along some treacherous roads to take me to physio. My neck now moves. I’d be so lost without my physio who has worked hard to keep me mobile for ten years. Lunch in our favourite garden centre followed, its on our route, with a pleasant surprise waiting back home. The car insurance search is over after receiving a very competitive quote from our current insurer. A weight has lifted, I so dislike the insurance searching.

Really must try for sleep now. A very bad night has left me looking like some sort of apparition, the ghostly sort.

Sleep well everyone. My thoughts are with all with struggles. Night night.

Naughtyneine Tue 24-Sept-24 09:38:30

Bon voyage FGT2...have a wonderful memory making time in your special place.
LlFL....you have my utmost respect re the R.T. I can't even bring myself to write it let alone deal with it.
NannyG....ouch.. That's not a nice thing to happen. I hope it's not too sore today.
Yia. I hope all goes well and speedily too.
Corner..I hope you had a better night...and can do the charity drop off too. Is the garden centre the one on the A38....?so much to see there if it is...
Brook...the sleepover sounded wonderful...I am so glad I have at least the memories of the twins and their little brother staying most weekends.
NannyT...hope you get your date really soon....and the same for Mr Soop....the waiting seems endless.
Today is the only dry one all week so the washing is calling. So exciting....not.

soop Tue 24-Sept-24 15:13:06

I would simply like to add all my good wishes to those of our Kitcheners who are coping with stressful and difficult issues. There are times when one longs for some respite. I also send happy travel wishes to all our Granspals who are holidaying. Enjoy making new treasured memories.

Mr Soop is having his scalp dressing changed. We still await the appointment for him to meet the surgeon who is to hopefully prevent the skin cancer from spreading further.

The sun is shining. The sea is deep teal blue/green. Birds are twittering.

Mr S has returned. We're to have a game of Scrabble. wink

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 24-Sept-24 17:17:04

I wish LordLFL would play scrabble with me, but he hates being beaten!

brook2704 Tue 24-Sept-24 17:35:40

Hi kitchen pals, I’m just home after being out all day - a long volunteering session this morning and then coffee with my pal at Costa this afternoon. I think it’s rained most of the day here, at least that was DHs excuse for not hanging out the washing! I’m on the sofa now with my feet up for half an hour before a Charlie Bighams goes in the oven
I enjoy playing Scrabble too Soop, it’s always a good way to spend an hour or so - llfl you might have to let him win, just the once!
Hope you got some sleep this afternoon corner and so good that the physio helped with your neck
Nannyg4, Doodle and all, sending ❤️

Jaxjacky Tue 24-Sept-24 19:16:02

It’s been a grey day here with odd shower, bedding is drying indoors, we managed to take out the courgette plants before the rain.
I had a stroll for about 40 minutes, the leaves are all coming down now, seasonal colours of the browns and oranges.
I need to think about further pruning of grasses, peonies and climbers, this self seeded impatients is still going!

Naughtyneine Tue 24-Sept-24 20:02:46

LlFL...check out Words With Friends app. Played it for years and made friends in real life with one lady too. I'm 'chatting' with several too. At the moment it's taking me nearly 2 hours to play all the games that are ongoing.

Redcar Tue 24-Sept-24 20:09:32

It’s been mostly grey here today but no more rain. It’s colder this evening, but people are still walking around with sleeveless tops on! I’m bundled up in jeans, a long sleeved top and an anorak! The shops in town all had their heating on today. I did some shopping this morning and saw my friend with dementia this afternoon. She was very quiet and seemed to barely breathing. Her husband has been told to purée her food now.
I heard from the hospital that my hip replacement will be early In November. Now I have to get organised for that and Christmas! I’ll stay at DD1s afterwards while I have to wear the elastic stockings and have the injections.
nannyG4 I hope that you aren’t in too much pain from your fall yesterday, but how awful that no one helped you up.
corner good that you can now move your neck and I hope that you have a good night’s sleep tonight.
nannyt &soop I hope that you don’t have to wait too much longer for your and your husband’s operations. Such a stressful time.
Hope this evening is peaceful for us all.

Doodle Tue 24-Sept-24 20:15:04

NannyG4 I’m so sorry about your fall. It would be a shock at any time but I can understand how much you miss that special person looking after you. Hope you are not hurt.
Yiayia thinking of you and your DH.
I had to go to hospital today. Only for an X-ray but it brought it all back. The last year being there so much. I got really upset but fortunately one of our sons was with me so I got by ok.
Have a lovely time FGT treasure every second.

Blossoming Tue 24-Sept-24 20:55:28

Good evening kitchen folk, hope you’re all doing as well as you might. MrB’s sister keeps sending me supplies of her lovely home made soup. She knows I’m partial to it and everyone is making sure I eat something 😂. I’m very grateful for all the support I’m offered. The weather isn’t too great, is it. Every bone I’ve ever broken is getting its revenge, thank heavens for thermal base layers!

Goodnight, sleep tight ♥️💤

Jaxjacky Tue 24-Sept-24 21:15:14

Well done Doodle it must have been very difficult and NannyG4 for getting up and onward, you’re both magnificent.
Soup sounds delicious Blossoming my mind is now wandering that way, my silver gloves are poised!
Good news for your hip Redcar lots of lists to prepare, how sad for your friend’s husband.

I absolutely understand Doodle - I had exactly the same reaction recently when I had knee x-rays at the hospital where Paw spent much of his last 6 months and where he died.
It really discombobulated me and all I wanted to do was get back to the safety of my home.
And in my case it was nearly seven years ago hmm

Hello kitchen people.
A quick update from my bed - I’m exhausted!
My new V&A course on the History of Art was excellent. Two lectures online. After lunch I popped round to my friend’s house. Fortunately the flooding had gone down so I could drive there. She is recovering from cancer treatment over a year ago and is still on painkillers.
OH visited his bees today and apparently they were in fine fettle. While he was at his Shooting club tonight I watched an old Poirot and Bake Off.

Sweet dreams everyone.
