Good morning from a cloudy mid essex. We had some rain overnight, there are a few little puddles on the drive. I had intended to wash the car yesterday, but didn’t! I may do it today, depending on the weather.
Went to the local garden centre yesterday but couldn’t find what I wanted, it was full of pansies and cyclamen, all for “autumn colour”. I’m not ready for that yet!
DD2 and family returned from holiday yesterday, a day earlier than planned as the accommodation was damp.
Nothing planned for today, other than the usual walk and exercises.
I hope the planned day trips tomorrow are enjoyable and that the urms are having a great time with their family in Malaga.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from the river bank in Shepperton. We are slowly making our way down the Thames to Teddington. We need to leave Teddington very early, about 5, on Sunday morning for the long, about 10 hour journey down the tidal Thames.
We are both looking forward to getting home after our adventures on the River.
We had a lot of rain overnight but the sun appears to be shining now.
I hope Friday is kind to everyone xx

Good morning all from a bright and sunny North Leicestershire.

DD3 and family leave today. We love having them here for a couple of weeks but also relish the peace when they go!

Later, I have a pedicure booked and, this evening, we have a table booked at our favourite restaurant in the village.

Have the best day possible, everyone.

GMB, I have bought her a puddlesuit, but can't find wellies in her size.

Gingster Fri 16-Aug-24 07:23:37

Good morning and we have had rain overnight but now it’s warm and sunny. Cooler hopefully.

I had a call from my db2 last evening. He had a heart bypass 10 days ago and is home recuperating. Fortunately his son is home and is looking after him. He sounded quite chirpy but is impatient to get back to normal life.

Today I’ll shop and then we’ll meet our Friday friends. The weeks fly by don’t they!

Dgd2 did very well with her A level results and has her driving test today 🤞. A darling girl ❤️.

Take care all 🌸

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 10° and cloudy. Marydoll my two dgs love splashing in puddles still. Brook fingers crossed for your dd that the move doesn't fall through.
Yesterday I was very quiet and did very little. Today I'm having dgs2 all day. Dd has a team day in Glasgow, so she'll drop him off after dgs1 has gone into school. His dad will pick him up from work later this afternoon. I'm not sure what we'll get up to, it'll depend on the weather. Have a good day all.

Morning all from an overcast S E Essex, the temperature is due to reach 24°.

We have The Imp and his 9yr old brother today, have decided to visit a little petting zoo (Call of the Wild) lots to see and do.

DH and I will pop down to our favourite Indian Restaurant for dinner tonight.

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is only 11°C. Yesterday's torrential rain was so depressing.

I had a dreadful night of weird dreams and am feeling a bit under the weather to say the least this morning..

BabyD was full on yesterday, although absolutely delightful. It was such a horrible day, but she was desperate to get out. She kept going to the front door, shouting, walk, walk,
Eventually we managed a fifteen minute walk with her. Unfortunately, the muddy field and the road were more attractive than the safe pavement.
When we turned to go back home, she refused and plonked herself down in a puddle. 🤣
At least our antics, trying to fend her off at the pass, kept the neighbours amused!

I need to go out for essentials and pick up my cornucopia of prescriptions. I will bring a suitcase! Actually, I would rather stay at home.
A parcel has been lying in the Evri depot for days, so I shall need to chase it up.

Wishing you a pleasant day, folks.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve light grey cloud and looks quite breezy
Family life gMattie, hope it didn’t spoil your dinner too much and hope the rabbit recovers soon
I’m calling into DD2s today to help with her ongoing clear out and packing of boxes. There’s still no definite move date yet, I’m keeping everything crossed that things don’t fall through.
Enjoy your trip out tomorrow mick and you too nannyJan, I really like York, DS was at Uni there and I’ve lots of happy memories from when we used to visit
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from a cloudy W Kent. I had a lovely afternoon with DD2 for tea and chat, a rare event to see her on my own. We sorted out the world a bit. Eventually DGC put in an appearance and told me all about their recent holiday. Today is shopping and a visit from somebody who will repair/replace our back fence.
Best wishes

Good morning from a much brighter Black Country.

Lovely group walk along the Canal to Kinver yesterday, with a coffee stop in the village, then back along the canal. It was dull but very warm, luckily the rain didn't start until later in the afternoon.

Today I am over to Mums, then taking her into town for us to meet DS for lunch as he is working from the office today.

Tomorrow I have to be up very early and out by 6.30am shock. My friend and I are on a coach trip for a day out to York. I am sure it will be a long day, but looking forward to it, as have not been to York for about 12 years.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Good morning from Malta where we continue to sizzle.🥵

Totally wasted yesterday due to having taken an antihistamine for my hay fever which rendered me practically comatose. I dozed on and off for the best part of the day and gave up at 8pm to go to bed.

Got up at 1am to watch Alcaraz v Monfils playing in Cincinnati, it got to a tie break in the second set and was abruptly stopped due to heavy rain which caused all matches to be cancelled.

No plans whatsoever today, although I saw two or three tiny weevils on the counter top when I was making my tea so will need to track down from where they are coming. Pesky things but harmless.

Wishing you all a good day.☀️

BlueSapphire Fri 16-Aug-24 06:42:52

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny day in Northampton, but feeling chilly. A fine day is.forecast. Yesterday was overcast all day, and we had heavy rain in the evening for a while.

I did not get the front grass cut as my hay fever had started even before I got outside, and didn't want to make it worse. It seemed to start after I gave the stair carpet a good clean and brush, so wondering if that triggered it. I can cope with the runny nose, but it is my sore and stinging eyes that are so uncomfortable.

Dance classes this morning, so an early.brunch, and plan to make a large curry when I get back, with enough to freeze. The carry on reading if my eyes aren't too bad.

Have a happy Friday everyone.

Good morning from Durham. A cool, grey start, but sun expected later and a high of 20.
I’ve slept well, but somehow feel exhausted. DD2 is calling in on her way to work and builders working on a nearby chimney stack can see straight into my en-suite, so it’s a case of having to be up and ready early. A neighbour’s massive sycamore is starting to shed its leaves. I hate that tree with a passion - too much shade in Summer, then it’s a daily chore to rake up the leaves in Autumn and because the garden bin collection ends too early, I’ve to store the leaves, in bin bags over Winter. Spring is no better with sticky leaf cases and seedlings springing up all over.
A photographer took pictures of my neighbour’s house yesterday to go on the market. We all hope for nicer, more friendly and considerate residents - I’ll say no more.
Hoping NannyG has had a peaceful night.
Best wishes to all. X

Morning Mick, morning All from a clear corner of Somerset.

Taking the car to be cleaned then a grocery shop and admin for me today with a break in the middle for lunch at our favourite garden centre cafe.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Mizuna Fri 16-Aug-24 06:23:34

Good morning from a clear, bright Cornwall where it will be sunny today but only 20°, perfect. The main street trees outside my window are turning brown; luscious autumn around the corner.

A lovely day town-hopping yesterday after an unexpected trip to the dentist. To one town for the pharmacy, the next for a pasty lunch, another for M&S food shopping, with the usual range of interesting people on the buses.

Last evening the sun cast these fascinating shadows on my ceiling. Today I'll take a bus to our town's family-run garden centre and treat my patio to a plant.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire,

Elder son and his family are back with us for a few days although his partner went back to London at the crack of dawn as she has things to do. We all had a mammoth game of Trivial Pursuit last night, which I won!

Son and granddaughter are off to Oxford for the day later by bus. She rarely gets to go on a bus and thinks it will be exciting. I will catch up on various things and OH has bee things to do.

Have a good day. I’m thinking of Urms and hoping she and her family are having a wonderful time.

Greyduster Fri 16-Aug-24 06:07:33

Good morning Michael and all GNs. Glad you’re still having your trips out to look forward to, Mick. We have a clear blue sky in South Yorkshire, tinged with pink from the rising sun. Despite the forecast, yesterday stayed dry until the end of my walk with the Thursday group. Conversations were interesting and you hardly notice how long the walk is. We all noticed that some trees are starting to shed their leaves. Not even the end of August yet.
Nothing much planned today except to do a food shop, bake some Anzac biscuits for GS and do some jobs around the house.
Have a good day, folks.

grandMattie Fri 16-Aug-24 06:03:23

Good morning from a clear Bristol. The night has been chillier than I expected, but that may have been due to the cooling effect of showers in the early evening.
I was out for a church lunch, my companions were very entertaining. The food was ok, the puddings delicious.
The complex manager delivered my pendant alarm at last…. I shan’t be using it yet, but glad I have one; the other alarms are not always very accessible. Besides, we pay for them with our service charge.
In the evening, I dined at DD’s. Every seemed to be on edge with much shouting and slamming of doors. One of the causes is that a pet rabbit is very unwell…
Today, nothing. I’ve got to go to town for a few bits, but nothing in particular.
Have a good start to your weekend. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

RosesandLilac Fri 16-Aug-24 05:57:50

Good morning, it’s damp here after steady rain yesterday evening here in south Glos. Very welcome for the garden.
I pottered around yesterday, after an early dog walk, made dried liver treats for the dog, did a bit more gardening, tidying the borders (my garden is small but crammed with flowers) and then happily sat and did more embroidery in the unfinished summerhouse 🙄
Today I need to do housework and change the bed, it should be a sunny day so I will also do more outside.
Have a lovely day 🌹
