According to what I read earlier, it wasn’t his dog, he was looking after it for a friend. Either way there is something wrong with these dogs.

The latest toothless law is a waste of time. I often see them without muzzles. They’re supposed to be banned but are still being bred. I despair.

If you are indeed seeing bullies, then the owners are breaking the law, report them to the police.

The law needs revisiting and updating. It is underenforced- I think we should bring licensing back and maybe dogs should have a collar proving they are licensed?

There's nothing one can say really - these dogs should all be got rid of - completely - now.

I think the law was too lax on these dogs only specifically bred to be very aggressive.

I (sadly) think the only answer to the X-Bully dogs is to destroy them all ☹️☹️

With any other more “normal” dogs, penalties need to be much higher.

Licensing simply wouldn’t work, by law (I believe) all dogs must be microchipped and wear a collar when outside, but only the responsible dog owners do this & it would be the same for dog licences.

I really don’t know what the answer is.

I have said this before, if you want to have a gun license you have to have medical reports, your home has to be checked, a gun safe must be bolted to a wall and the ammunition to be kept in a separate safe, the keys to both safes must be well hidden and only the license holder to know where.
The police can come and do spot checks at any time.

Yet you can have a killer dog around children, you can walk it in parks among other children and dogs.

How is this different from someone taking a gun out in public and waving it around?

These dogs are volatile, vicious and have the ability to kill.

Greater steps must be taken, these dogs need to be euthanised.

Totally agree with above posts. They are terrifying, that's from a person who has had dogs all their lives. I feel so sorry for the dogs themselves, some vile idiots breeding them for god knows what, I think Sagos post says it all. Very sad.

It seems mad to me. XL bullies have the temperament and ability to kill and yet people walk around with them in public.
I wonder if I went walking with a pet lion would something be done.

I saw one this morning, being taken for a walk on a short lead, it was muzzled fortunately and the tattooed all over owner actually looked more scary, swaggering down the road, but I’ve also seen big unmuzzled ones as well.Whenever I go out, as it’s not the best neighbourhood, I’m on the alert for them.

Monica I disagree bullies aren’t a particular breed they are a mix up and any dog the size and weight of the one I encounter should be muzzled whether they are called a bully or a bully lookalike

I was just going to mention this. They are 'American Bulldog types' whatever that is. Shocking to think there are two possible killer dogs on the loose, and injured too. Goodness knows where they are and whose path they will cross, just pray not a baby or child, although anyone really. I hope they are caught soon before another tragedy occurs.

To be honest, dog licences wouldn't do a thing. People like you and I, we would buy one, the same as we clear up poop and generally are responsible dog owners, but the people who have bully type dogs for nefarious or other purposes are unlikely to trot down to the post office to buy a licence. If you saw a dog without a 'licence collar' would you challenge the owner? I wouldn't. I don't know what the answer is though

I think it just gives an idea of the extreme number of dogs in the UK. Two barrels of apples and one barrel of pears is still two barrels and one barrel as long as they contained the same number of fruit in each.

Who are these mindless people who keep these animals? Should they not face some sanctions, as well as disposing of their dogs?

we are hearing too much of this, these dogs need to be wiped out ,one human life lost isone too many..

The problem is that not all these dogs are XL bullies. there are a range of these dog breeds involved in these killings and we cannot just destroy every dog over a certain size.

One of the common features of all these attacks is people keeping multipes of these big dogs who need a lot of physical activity cooped up in small houses, where I suspect they are not adequately exercised. Every photo of a location of a killing shows small terrace house or a block of flats. never a big house with a large garden for a dog to run round in

When I was working, I once made a house visit to a small Housing Association terrace house. The house was about 15 foot wide and 25 foot deep and it had a back garden no larger.

While I was there, 3 large alsation type dogs were locked int he garden and jumping up at the window. The house and garden were far too small for any big dog and, as I was there to sort out disability benefits, their owner was clearly not going to be taking them out for several 5 mile walks every day. As I understood his son came round to walk them, but also had dogs of his own!
