I was correct about the weather forecast. DH, unfortunately was wrong.
I opened the blinds, to see that DH had kindly put out the washing, it is pouring!

Good morning all and we’re back in Essex. We had a lovely week with family visiting but it’s nice to be back to ‘normal’. We do enjoy our own time and relaxation.

Although it’s Bank Holiday, our Chimes group is on, so off I’ll go in a while to enjoy some fun, making music. 🎶 .

Morning, 16 in S Hants with high cloud, no volunteer phone today or quiz, my back is a lot better, but I’m still wary, so a gentle day. MrJ may cut the grass, it needs doing but I’m always reluctant as the bees love the flowers.

Good morning from a bright W Kent. Chatty visit from DS and family and he bought a delicious almond cake for us all to enjoy.
Today the gardener is coming apparently he doesn’t bother with Bank Holiday either. The cleaner isn’t so I suppose I better look properly at the bathrooms.

Good morning (late-for-me faffing about 😁) from sunny Cornwall where I'm drinking coffee on my patio. There are forget-me-nots and a foxglove on their second flowering and my pyracantha berries are reddening.

Super news yesterday that my daughter will be coming to stay in three weeks' time. We're both very excited, having not seen each other for 10 months due to my various medical procedures. She loves all things Christmas and one of our favourite pastimes is to go around the bigger stores with me describing the seasonal stuff (she's blind, for anyone who doesn't know). Sometimes I give her a 'virtual tour' over the phone but it isn't quite the same.

Today I'll bus somewhere, maybe Portreath on the north coast, which sometimes has good beachcombing.

Good morning everyone from a very bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, a fine day is forecast so I have got the first load of washing in the machine. Another load is waiting.

A morning of pottering and an early lunch, then out this afternoon to a neighbour's BBQ; and somewhere between all that DD-out-law and the 2 DGDs are popping in with goodies from Menorca, so I am informed! It will be lovely to see them, especially as I have some money for DGD1, who got her excellent GCSE results last week.

Good morning Mick and everyone from currently sunny Carlisle. It was 'currently sunny' this time yesterday but soon turned grey. After lunch, it was rain, rain, rain....so no gardening or walking. I did walking exercises indoors and read the papers and a book I'm reviewing for the charity shop.
It was dark early and very chilly, the heating actually came on. I watched an interesting but horrifying documentary on the Rwandan genocide and the American role or rather non-role in it.
Today I may take it easy as I had a restless night's sleep with vivid, odd dreams so I'm still feeling rather tired. If it stays sunny I will no doubt perk up and possibly go out for that walk.
Apart from that, I shall treat it as a normal day and crack on with the laundry and housework. DH and I always stayed home on a bank holiday and I still do.

Of course, I’m biased, but Durham Cathedral is just wonderful, of course helped by the setting up in a peninsula overlooking the river. My friend took her GCs when the installation first opened and made doves to add to it.

Am enjoying having the London family here, especially as they cooked a delicious dinner last night and will finish setting up my new phones this morning. They are here until early afternoon and then I am helping to entertain some American visitors to our church - obviously scones and homemade jam will feature. Better get into the shower before there is a queue.

Good morning all from the Angus coast where the weather is what has become the usual mix. It's been September all the way through August - and as it's my favourite month I hope it remains September all through September too!
I did absolutely nothing yesterday, to my shame. It just seemed to be what my body needed, so I let it have its way. So today will be busy
I've just googled the doves at Durham Cathedral - how beautiful and inspiring that is.
Lovely to hear of someone so independent and able at 99 Redcar. We had a lady like that in town here. She eventually moved into a retirement home and lived (really lived, as opposed to just existing) until she was 107.
This afternoon I shall pick some more Victoria plums off the tree - they're just becoming ripe now. DD and NewMan took some away with them on Saturday and I received a photo of them enjoying them for Sunday breakfast the next day!
I've just seen a sparrow hawk swoop down on the bushes behind the bird table. I don't think he caught anything, but it's gone very quiet out there now. 'Nature red in tooth and claw' I suppose but it's always sad to see.

I was like you Grandmabatty and looked after DGDs 2 and 3 for many years, latterly just being there to see them off to school and welcome them home again. Now it is they who keep an eye on me!!

Good morning from a dry NE but the ground is damp so must have rained during the night.
SIL came yesterday and he looked at my malfunctioning TVs, he checked the wiring in the attic and found that both of them are plugged into an aerial amplifier. He suggested that the wiring had become worn and oxidised. Strange that they played up as soon as I was told I will not be able to receive iplayer or Netflix after next month. I am being penalised for having a ten year old TV.

Received a photo of GD at the zoo in Menorca, a lovely picture of her petting a goat which then rewarded her by chewing her dress.
A quiet day to myself, will finish my novel and do some tidying round.

Good morning Mick and all from a brightening northwest coast. Still feeding next door’s cat and bringing in parcels. My open front porch is very useful for deliveries and I’m a post Office Depot for my son 25 miles away.

I’m glad of a quiet day today, still feeling the effects of Saturday on the town and will just do some gentle housework. The gardener said he would come, but I’ll believe it when I see it.

My flying manager daughter is taking her best friend on a flight to LA, which will be lovely. I can’t believe those massive A380 planes ever take off…

Our Scottish grans do seem to get a lot of rain. Thoughts to all as always 🌺

Good morning from coastal West Sussex. It was sunny but has clouded over but I think the sun will be back. I am still following doctor’s orders to take it easy following my head injury. I have been using the time (when I’m not dozing 🥱), to gently declutter my excessive collection of memorabilia. It is mainly paper - articles, old calendars, stuff from a significant work project etc etc … Yesterday I talked DH into moving our old record player and small record cabinet from his study/office, downstairs to the living room. It has been gathering dust over the past few years so I said we should listen to the remaining records with a view to eventually getting rid of them and the record player. We have a somewhat random selection of teen/student favourites - Cat Stevens, Jesus Christ Superstar, the Missa Luba (anyone remember that?), The Spinners. I will enjoy hearing them and watching the turntable spin them around.

Lovely to read of all the gardens and fruit picking. We are hoping DH’s third, very late planting of runner beans will produce a crop of some sort before the weather cools down.

I’ve been wondering about Whitewave, Jaxjacky, she’s nowhere to be seen the last few days.

Good morning everyone from a chilly, dull West Yorkshire. I am late - only just got up ! Much better sleep last night and it's done me good.
Today is going to be spent tidying up and doing laundry. Need to pack for the trip to see my sister as well. Hopefully we'll visit out brother who is in a nursing home. It's a very nice place but hard to get to without a car . It's long lonely walk from the bus stop especially in winter so while the days are still longer we visit more often.We will share a taxi I think.
