Good morning from a dry Bristol. A dryish day is promised. Unlike yesterday, when I had to run back home for an umbrella as it started to pour down as I went for my paper. The third morning in a row that this has happened.
I had a very productive day. In the morning, I made some biscuits and a coffee and walnut traybake for the Singles tea this afternoon. I had a nap after lunch then decided to make marmalade. At this time of year, I use the tinned stuff, so made three batches, 21 pots. I now have to wash and label them, I make my own.
Today - outdoor tai chi and the singles afternoon.

Good morning from a cloudy but dry Torbay.

You'd hardly have known it was a Bank Holiday yesterday - tourists are not visiting in large numbers this year it seems. I guess the unpredictable weather hasn’t helped and the town's deteriorating centre. As elsewhere, there are an increasing number of homeless people with health issues including addictions but decreasing support services for them.

I’ll be at Props this morning where we have to look at our risk assessment. An eager beaver on the theatre committee has decreed this to be necessary for insurance purposes. If anyone were to meet us, they'd discover we all have physical infirmities of some kind but we're old (and wise?!) enough to recognise our limitations.

Good morning from a very hot Malta.

Yesterday had my nails done, did a bit of shopping, cleaned my car, vacuumed and steam mopped my floors, and finished the last of the photo albums which are now put away.

Today a bit of pottering this morning, hair appointment this afternoon and will call to see the boys.

I will be looking after them from tomorrow until Saturday as DD3 is off to Sardinia for a break with another mum of twins.

Ash, this blooming risk assessment may not be the “eager beaver’s” fault. Our WI had to do them all the time for this and that…. I think it is on the insistence of the insurance, for the building, for public liability, ‘elf and safety, etc. A real pain in the proverbial.

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a rather grey South Yorkshire. The chap who cuts my hedges did his usual very good job yesterday and also did a couple of extra jobs I hadn’t asked for. I have a pyracantha on an outside wall which had grown so big because of all the rain we’ve had that it had broken loose from its trellis and he resecured it for me, which took a bit of doing, and he strimmed the area of grass and weeds at the back of the garden wall which I find it difficult to get the mower to. It was work he wasn’t going to charge me for but I added something onto his bill. I got ensnared in gardening jobs myself in the afternoon, having gone out to do one small thing that led to another! Not sure what is on the cards today. A run out in the car I think if the weather holds.

Good morning everyone. It looks chilly outside some wind and grey, not inviting to go outside. I am still having problems with my back and my plans to get jobs finished have not been working. However today I am determined to finish the ironing completely and get the last of the stuff put away and then tackle the bedroom. It doesnt sound much but I am resolved to not only put stuff away but try and take a firm hand with myself and go through things and throw out or give away anything that I havent used for a while. My husband used to be so good at saying lets have a sort out, but I tend to think Oh I might still use or wear this , and put it back in the cupboard! So today is the day - will let you know if it works later! So hope by tonight to see things a bit tidier and a pile of things sorted. We shall see! Have a good day everyone

Hair cut first thing. I have no set plans for afterwards but something will evolve

I did a lot of pattern filing with ABC codes so I know, at a glance, how well certain patterns fit and suit me. I also went through my wardrobe and storage boxes, some stuff went out, which was my aim. I made more space and did some downsizing. I made lists for future projects, either in a toile if a new pattern or in a good fabric if a tried and tested. In future I am going to start a new notebook of future garment details, one page per garment.

Good morning all.

On Sunday DGD3 had the first of her birthday celebrations, a picnic for 18 family members at a large and beautiful park about 40 minutes drive away. It was a tad chilly but luckily the rain held off. They handed Luna back to DS who had returned the previous night from holiday. DGD3 and DGS2 were very upset as they’ve grown very attached to her. I think they will get a puppy next year. Unusually for a bank holiday, we looked after GD3 yesterday as DD had a lot of prep to do for the wedding coming up in September.

DGS1 who is 13 has the same hairstyle that has been mentioned on GN with a mop of hair at the front but cut a lot shorter at the back. Obviously the current fashion.

That’s a lot of childcare you have coming up Bellasnana. I couldn’t do that much.

Housework (maybe) today otherwise a quiet day. We may go for a walk later.

Good morning from sunny Cornwall. Started sorting my neighbour's patio yesterday, cutting back brambles and pulling up the weeds between the flagstones. So satisfying. Today I'll chop up the pile of weeds and dump them in my compost heap up in the wood. Swept up loads of lovely leafmould which will go on my patio beds.

Need to collect prescriptions today so will have a coffee in my favourite pasty shop while I'm out, where the ladies serving are all cheery and welcoming and call you 'me 'andsome'. Proper Cornish. 😍

Good morning from a dull and cloudy Black Country.

Quiet day yesterday, we spent a while tidying garden, cutting back Shrubs etc. Then I finished my book.

Today I am going to a National Trust property in Shropshire with my friend. As we have a free voucher to be used by 1st September. Lunch there, or we may find a nearby pub. She is driving, so I will buy her lunch. Now to decide what to wear, summer clothes or something warmer?

MrJ is off on a bike ride with his club.

Sad to see the slow decline of coast towns in UK Ashcombe . Probably one reason is people prefer to go abroad for sunnier weather.

So in awe of the Grans who have regular childminding, I doubt I would have the energy now. Luckily mine range in age from 13 to 20, so no longer needed for that.

Yesterday went almost to plan. My new volunteer helper arrived last night . She seems very nice but will have to do indoor jobs today. I wanted to take her around the town but that can wait.

Good morning from Durham. No sign of sun today and cool.
Went into Durham yesterday with DD1 and family. It was heaving, but a carnival atmosphere with classic car exhibitions dotted around, street musicians etc.
The cathedral doves were definitely worth seeing, again it was full of visitors.
I’m having coffee with a friend this morning, then the gas man cometh. DD1 is without her car today, but unfortunately I can’t help out, unless she gets a taxi, she’s in for a long walk.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex where it’s dry and sunny, will be warm (hot?) later. It still feels quite autumnal though, the shadows are getting longer in my garden and there’s dew on the hard surfaces.
The family and I visited my godmother yesterday, she’s doing well but at 99 is becoming less active! We came back here for a buffet lunch in the garden, which was very enjoyable.
Today I’ll go for a walk then visit my friend with dementia.

Morning Mick, morning All from a cloudy corner of Somerset, we’re forecast sun later.

Achieved a lot yesterday. Chairs dismantled, covers washed, dried, ironed and after a struggle replaced by Mr C. We concluded the next time they need a wash we’ll have to ask for help to replace them. The are IKEA chairs, over 20 years old, and although the covers wash wonderfully they are so tight it needs brute strength to replace them. While the covers were drying we cleaned the outside of the conservatory. All very satisfying.

Struggled to sleep after all that, a known side effect of new meds which are also making me feel constantly nauseous. I may have to abandon them, will give it a little longer to decide.

Neighbours coming for coffee this morning, always enjoyable then perhaps a walk along our little river if the groceries arrive to time after lunch.

The carpenter did come yesterday, he reckons another three days work on the summerhouse, but no idea when 🤷🏼‍♀️
I did finish crocheting my small blanket, that’s the last one for a while. I don’t really know why I keep making them as, unless I give them to a care home, they’re just stacked in a cupboard. Silly really but I just cannot sit and do nothing!
Today I need to go into town for a few bits, including paint for the summerhouse interior just in case it get finished soon.
I will pop into B&M too for a wander- it’s my first trip out for several weeks 🙄

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I haven’t peeked outside yet but there’s definitely an autumn tang in the air.

OH and I are going to the cinema later to see the new Alien film. Beforehand we’ll have lunch at the Italian restaurant next door. If we show our cinema tickets we get 20% off our bill!

The house is nearly back to normal after elder son and his family’s stay! It is so quiet.
