Good morning all from a very wet and wild Glasgow, where the rain is coming down in sheets ÀGAIN!
DH and I were planning to go out for the day, but it won't be happening, due to the weather.!
Usually, I would be disappointed, but I'm not really up to it. I shall do some alterations instead.

Ash, I'm very familiar doing risk assessments for our parish. In fact yesterday, when I was having a cull of sensitive Safeguarding materials, I found a bundle of them. They need to be done annually for bui ldings and parish groups, it is mandatory. I really dislike doing them! It will soon be time to do them again. sad
I had a massive clear out of paperwork and because it was so sensitive and my hands too painful, I decided to burn them in the garden incinerator. Not the brightest of ideas. especially as I live beside the Community Fire Station.

Yesterday, I had a lovely chat with Dollie's drama teacher, a former Scottish soap opra star. She needed access to the parish hall, where she holds her drama class and the curate was again AWOL. She thought it was hilarious, when I told her I had been to the set a few times. blush
She informed me that Dollie does very accurate impersonations of me! 😂

Today it is the turn to destroy hospital letters from I first became ill. I had to keep them, because my records ( two huge files) were always getting lost, as they were being transported among the various hospitals in Glasgow I attended. The folders were held together with string and elastic bands.
Thank goodness everything is electronically recorded nowadays. I was amazed when a doctor recently accessed a record from 1978.

Tonight we need to have an early dinner, because we are hosting a Diocesan Safeguarding training session. The PP is on holiday and the curate, being the curate, didn't check the calendar and is also out.
I shall have to go and set up the projector etc.

Wishing you all a good day, especially the poorlies.

Good morning from South Lanarkshire. Rain, rain, and yet more rain.

I did manage dog walks yesterday without getting soaked, I doubt that will happen today, in fact daft dug is currently hiding under the spare bed to avoid being dragged outside.

There are several tasks needing attention if only I can dredge up the energy to tackle at least a couple of them today.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Yesterday was busy with family departing at lunchtime and then visiting Americans in the afternoon, but today is quieter - bed changing and shopping. Forecast says grey but dry so at least the laundry can go outside. A fairly empty week ahead but everything gets going again next week so will enjoy idleness for a bit longer.

*Ash*, this blooming risk assessment may not be the “eager beaver’s” fault. Our WI had to do them all the time for this and that…. I think it is on the insistence of the insurance, for the building, for public liability, ‘elf and safety, etc. A real pain in the proverbial.

I belong to The National Women's Register and we meet in each other's houses. We now have to do an online risk assessment prior to hosting a meeting. The assessment only needs doing once unless there are changes in the house. smile

Good morning all. It's a cool, wet start to the day on the Angus coast, but I think it will clear up later.
Yesterday I had a very productive morning - unusual for me! - and was so glad to stop for Countdown and a bite of lunch. But I fell asleep through the second half of the programme which was so annoying (the sleeping, not the programme!)
Anyway, today is Tai chi and a small shop. DGD3 is in Paris with her friends for three days so I shall look forward to all the photos she has promised me. She just came back from the family holiday to Gran Canaria on Thursday, straight back to work as a housekeeper at the Hydro, worked yesterday and flew during the night. When she gets back from this trip she's straight into work again - until she goes back to uni for a rest!! Only the young!
Safe trip home today Brook, and enjoy your day everyone x

Good morning everyone from a cloudy Northampton, but sun is promised.

DD-out-law and the two DGDs called in yesterday bringing me goodies from Menorca - bottle of Menorcan gin, and a pretty bracelet. I gave DGD1 her card and money for her excellent GCSE results, and she was quite overcome. They left to go to Sainsbury's to buy new stationery for the new school year, so I asked if they would kindly take my KS sized duvet in to Timpsons for cleaning/washing. They dropped the ticket back in later and the duvet will be ready next week.

After that it was off to my neighbour's BBQ, which was most enjoyable. We spent a lovely afternoon in his amazing garden, drinking wine and chatting in the sunshine, 10 of us, all neighbours. There was a wonderful spread of food, and then sausages, burgers and kebabs appeared. Food was thrust upon me as I left later! Stayed until it was dark, then I got cold, so took my leave some time after 9pm.

A lazy morning, early lunch, and then out to my walking group.

Have a pleasant Tuesday everyone.

Good morning all and it’s bright and sunny here in Essex. We really have had a lovely summer, although it started fairly late.
Yesterday we sat in the garden for our Chimes session. I had to move into the shade as it was so hot 🥵.

Washing is already out and I’ll walk little pooch soon.
Bridge this afternoon and maybe evening. Brain permitting.🧐.

I’m the same RosesandLilac I keep crochetting blankets and they’re everywhere. I’ve made one each for the 8 grandchildren in various colours. The twin boys had claret and blue (West Ham colours).

A worry for you Kitty. My Dd is going to Turkey next week and I don’t think she’s well enough. I’ll be a worried wreck all week, but what can I say. 😢.

Take care all 🌻

Good morning from N Bucks, sunny again but with a breeze.
London yesterday was good- trains OK, parking at the station easy and half price as it was a BH too. Bonus.
Met D2 and GS for lunch at Pizza Express in St Martins Lane - it’s ideal for families as the children love it and such good value - then walked up to the Art of Banksy in Charing Cross road.
A really good exhibition, pleasantly quiet but I enjoyed a proper look at his skill, humour and sense of anarchy .
Then along to Foyles for tea and a browse, oh I could have really pushed the boat out but forcibly restrained myself! The journey home was SLOW, the train conked out at Kings Langley and we sat for over half an hour before it started again. Still, it was quiet, I had a seat and my book, so I just waited patiently.
Recovering today, dental check up this afternoon but no other plans.
Wishing you all a pleasant day.

Good morning from an overcast Mid Lancs. Already had a spot of rain and the breeze is coming from an easterly direction which is making things cooler than they might be at the end of August.

Oh dear.

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle where it looks like we'll have a day of sunshine and showers.
It was chilly yesterday evening, the heating came on again. I was glad of it as suddenly after lunch I was struck by the onset of some infection and spent the evening on the sofa wrapped in my fleece throw to ward off the chills within and without.
I'm still muzzy headed this morning so will pace myself gently through the usual household chores.

I successfully got rid of some kitchen items yesterday morning having had a sort out of my kitchen cupboards. Then a long chat with DS2 in Australia. How wonderful technology can be these days!

I hope you all have a good day.

Morning from South Lanarkshire. My windows remind me of the fish shop when I was a child. They had water permanently running down them, presumably keeping the display cool.
It’s actually quite hard to remain upbeat in the face of this constant heavy rain. Not having a car now doesn’t help, I am really glad of the raincoat I got in Norway last year, it is totally waterproof and boy has it earned its keep this ‘summer’.

Visited my 89 year old sister in law yesterday and took nice M&S sandwiches and cake for lunch. She added a gin and tonic which cheered us both up!

Off to Giffnock today to do some post school childminding, it will be worth the journey.

I haven’t had time to post since I saw the picture of your jacket karma, it was amazing, totally professional, how wonderful to have that level of skill.

Safe journey home brook and I hope kittylester’s daughter is okay.

hollysteers Tue 27-Aug-24 09:39:34

Good morning Mick and all from a mixed up weather wise northwest coast.
Gardener came yesterday, which pleased me, but hasn’t cut down a hedge as much as I asked for. It was a domestic day with ironing and tidying. Today I go to the music club so will have a little run through of my songs. I’m not sure if I’m ‘on the desk’. Sore throat last night and sneezing, hope I haven’t a cold coming on. Big decision today, shall I wear dress and bare legs? Probably the last time for bare legs…

Safe travels brook and thoughts to kittylester🌺

Good morning from a very wet and horrible Central Scotland. We are meeting my DSiL later for coffee and catch up at the cafe at the base of the Wallace Monument surely it will be quieter today. Many of the tour buses stop there but only for a very short time they can’t really fit photos, coffee and the toilet in! It is a case of decide your priorities. There have been a lot of foreign cars and motorbikes there too but I fail to understand why lots of healthy young people stand in a huge queue to get the small free bus up and down Abbeycraig. It takes longer to wait than walking up and down does.
Not much planned this week it will be weather based activities.
Glad I picked some hydrangeas for my DSiL last night or she wouldn’t have been getting them, they have been wonderful this year. Not much longer to holiday time and some welcome su.

Kalu Tue 27-Aug-24 10:14:13

Good morning dear friends. It is with the heaviest of hearts I am posting with the news my darling husband died on the 23rd
I nursed him at home until he peacefully slipped away as I held his hand.
Our darling girls and GDs plus extended loving family have and continue to be such a strong support.

I have lost not only R who was the love of my life but my best friend.

Bellasnana Tue 27-Aug-24 10:21:04

Kalu heartfelt condolences on your very sad loss.💐

Marydoll Tue 27-Aug-24 10:21:04

Oh, Kalu, I am heartbroken for you. You must be devastated.
I remember R. commenting in the background, when we had our lengthy phone calls, indeed a lovely man.
Take care, my friend. x

kittylester Tue 27-Aug-24 10:22:31

Thank you for the good wishes for DD. She collapsed at checkin and is now in a wheelchair waiting to board. Assuming they let her fly.

I am not sure whether to be more concerned, which we obviously are, or hopping mad that they went in the first place!!

Gingster, I'll hold your hand!!

kittylester Tue 27-Aug-24 10:25:02

Oh, Kalu, I am so sorry to hear your news. You must be reeling.

Foolhardy daughters are of no consequence in the face of your news.
