Is anyone else fed up to the back teeth with all the hype over Oasis getting back together. Listening, reluctantly, to the bits of their "music" on the news, it is just a noise. Lyrics? are indistinguishable, and how can they be called the Greatest Song Writers?
OK,
I shall now retreat and wait for the backlash.

I said to my son not to buy tickets as they'll have split up again by 2025

tanith Tue 27-Aug-24 19:20:28

If they even get through the the tour together I’ll be surprised.

MissAdventure Tue 27-Aug-24 19:21:03

I was never really a fan.
I felt I should be, but they are or were, just horrible blokes.

Harris27 Tue 27-Aug-24 19:21:41

Didn’t believe it when I heard it. I’d be sceptical buying tickets in case it doesn’t happen.

BlueBelle Tue 27-Aug-24 19:22:26

Never a fan at all didn’t like those scowly faces

Harris27 Tue 27-Aug-24 19:22:50

My sons loved them. I rembered taking youngest son to work and that’s all played in my car.

Millie22 Tue 27-Aug-24 19:27:06

Yes very fed up.

Two chavvy blokes who sang a few rock songs and now need some money as one has paid out goodness knows how much to an ex-wife.

FlexibleFriend Tue 27-Aug-24 19:30:35

I liked them when they were together, not so much as individuals.

JamesandJon33 Tue 27-Aug-24 19:33:18

Yes very fed up. Lumpish blokes. Why is it news?

Indigo8 Tue 27-Aug-24 19:36:55

Oasis mean very little to me apart from two unpleasant looking brothers with monobrows. Not sure what all the fuss is about.confused

westendgirl Tue 27-Aug-24 19:38:09

Not sure why it has to be so dominant on the news broadcasts. Surely when there is so much going on in the world a bye line at the end would suffice. They must have very persuasive agents!

Cabbie21 Tue 27-Aug-24 19:38:25

A lot of hype over nothing.

Greenfinch Tue 27-Aug-24 19:44:07

Auntieflo, my sentiments exactly. They are not exactly good role models to the young and how Andy Burnham can get so excited about them is beyond me.

Just what I said to mine!

Yes mine too! I loved their album "What's the story, morning glory" we seemed to be listening to that a lot in our house at one time. I admit to liking some of their stuff, I think they were/are good lyricists, anyone remember "Don't Look Back In Anger" played out on the finale of that excellent series "Our Friends In The North" and it fitted in with the narrative. But yes a lot of hoo ha over nothing really, at their worst, they did behave like yobbos, --mainly Liam

They are awful people and surprised that BBC spent so much time raving over them this morning. Maybe not surprised as the BBC has gone down in my estimation.

Jaxjacky Tue 27-Aug-24 19:53:26

It’s big news for that generation, both of my children, in their 30’s like them, but don’t necessarily like the music I do, so I respect that.

merlotgran Tue 27-Aug-24 19:58:21

Good Grief! You’re all at it again. I thought Sam Smith at the Proms was bad enough.

I can fully understand the excitement of their fans even though I’m of a different generation.

Rock and Roll innit? 😂

Ziplok Tue 27-Aug-24 20:04:04

I agree Auntieflo - sick to the back teeth of the news being dominated by this “ non news”.
Never liked them in the 90’s early 00’s. It’s a lot of hype, and it’s quite possible they’ll split again before they even get going.

ginny Tue 27-Aug-24 20:07:36

I’m not bothered if people like them or not but is I hardly big National news !

GrannyGravy13 Tue 27-Aug-24 20:18:09

My AC are fans as is my sister, I really like some of their tracks.

No doubt all/some will try for tickets.

I would not like to be judged on my music taste, so I do not and will not judge others.

Treebee Tue 27-Aug-24 20:19:54

Yes, fed up, really not news. I like their music as it’s Beatle-inspired, but I have no time for Noel or Liam.

This, in a nutshell. I'm not a particular fan of Oasis, but it is big news in the music world. Tickets will sell like hot cakes.

Visgir1 Tue 27-Aug-24 20:23:47

Well I'm going to try and get tickets for Wembley. Not my all time favourites but they were good.

I always thought them not speaking to each other was all hype to keep them in the News?
