Good Morning Everyone,
I have woken up to dry conditions but its twilight here in brackley at the moment.
Today my usual spin on the bus to Bicester and back .
Followed by lunch ,and then settle down to watch the cycling from Spain.
Health wise , still in that good day ,bad day situ as regards to things , I think the warm air and heat somehow effects my system ,as I tend to feel better in cooler and milder conditions.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a calm and dry peaceful Torbay with sunshine forecast, as it is almost everywhere, I think! Like you, Mick, I'm not a fan (pardon the pun!) of hot weather. Fine but breezy days are a welcome regular occurence here.

Thank you for the kind comments about the coffee table yesterday. They wanted to deliver the matching sideboard and nest of tables today but I have postponed those for a week because of the need to rest for a few days following my knee injection. Again, I appreciated the supportive wishes about that from you thoughtful people on this thread.

I’m pleased to report that all went well. The injection was administered by a super young man who went to great lengths to explain the procedure which he performed expertly with the minimum of discomfort to me. He warned me to expect swelling and pain from it initially although so far, so good. It’s likely that the local anaesthetic is still having an effect but, dare I say, the joint is much less stiff today. If it works, I could be given three injections a year to delay the need for a replacement for a few years. Naturally, I have no plans for today other than resting as instructed!

Wishing you all an enjoyable time whatever this sunny day brings! 🦩💐😎 🥰🦩

Good morning from a dry Bristol. It is quite chilly having gone down to single digits.
Had a text from DD and family who are in Paris. They loved the Monets in the Orangerie, and at the Paralympics, saw the first two gold medals 🥇 and one silver!
I had a quiet day, just pottering, after my tai chi class.
Today, I’m having lunch in the town centre. I’m meeting a cousin I haven’t seen for over 30 years. It’ll be interesting; her mother was very kind to me when I first came to England.
Anyone heard from urms? She’s been very quiet.
Carpe diem.🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from s somerset, dry and some sun today

I was ultra-busy yesterday, not manic busy, just plodding as I wanted to sort and catalogue my fabric stash. It looks very tidy and neat with `at last` a good filing system. One more session today and I will be done by early afternoon. I carried on until 9 and then decided I must wind-down and did the usual pottering/cleaning in the kitchen before bed

A nice cycle ride beckons at 9, it needs to be warm enough for me and I know how to dress for 14 degrees on my bike

I am hoping to find an easy ready lunch in my freezer and I have made soup for teatime by 4

Have a good day

Good Morning from Mid Lancs. Light is just breaking and it ain't looking good. Dull, dull, dull.
BUT........it's Friday!
And the kiddies start returning to school next week - I've seen teen boys mooching about the locality with their Back-To-School-National-Service haircuts.

Greyduster Fri 30-Aug-24 06:05:44

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where the sun is rising and the sickle moon is waning in a clear sky. Had a good walk yesterday morning - lots of interesting conversation. I went out again in the late afternoon looking to see if the elderberries were ripe and they are so I will pick some today to make elderberry cordial for the winter. I also need to wash my car and cut the front lawn if possible.
Have the best day you can folks.

Bellasnana Fri 30-Aug-24 06:12:07

Good morning from Malta where it’s still hot and humid.

Had a great day with the boys yesterday, they really do give me energy.

DD1 and little dog arrived at lunchtime after three flights from the US. It was like Christmas had come early as she had a suitcase full of gifts for the boys.

She went off to meet friends at a school reunion so I babysat Bertie the dog. He’s a sweet boy and gets along well with my Buzz.

Needless to say I was exhausted by the time I got to bed but am up and ready to repeat the performance today.😄

Glad all went well with your knee injection Ash, I hope a beneficial effect will result from the procedure.

Hoping for a good day for you all.☀️

grandMattie Fri 30-Aug-24 06:21:16

Connection crashed three times. Last attempt…
Ash, I’m so pleased for you that your knee injection appears to be successful. Chronic pain is so exhausting and draining…

RosesandLilac Fri 30-Aug-24 06:24:22

Good morning, it’s a cloudy start here in south Glos.
Notching much happened yesterday besides housework and dog walks.
DH woke me up saying that there’s a mouse in the cutlery drawer 😵‍💫, or rather droppings all over everything so the contents went in the dishwasher and a trap is set. That’s the first one for a number of years thankfully!
Today I will potter in the garden, there’s always something to do which suits me fine. My gardener neighbour will be round to trim the bay tree, it’s looking somewhat shaggy, he has a real flair for topiary. I have asked him to cut down the pear tree that’s diseased and do something about the magnolia stump if possible 🤞🏻
Hope that the day goes well for you all 🌹

GrannyIvy Fri 30-Aug-24 06:30:07

Good morning from Cambs. It looks like it will be another fine summer day here. I had another restless night fighting this viral thing I have. My ribs hurt so much from coughing. It will be another day of resting and dosing up and hopefully I won’t pass it on to the family. DH has breakfast club with the boys and lawn bowls this afternoon. That does mean I can have my pick on the tv!
Wishing everyone a good day.

Georgesgran Fri 30-Aug-24 06:47:14

Good Morning from Durham. It’s grey and overcast, although a fine, sunny day is forecast.
DD2 and DGS2 are coming here late morning, to avoid their cleaner. He’s not a fan of dogs, so we may go out as I’ve DD1’s Little Dog here. She’s off to New York with a friend later today. It worries me when she goes there, but she’s always confident.
This afternoon, a chap is coming to add more wires to my tv/router/desk top - I’m very annoyed that Sky left me high and dry after their ‘work’ and I’ve had to find someone to complete the job.
I hope poorly knees and backs continue to improve.
Best wishes to all. X

kittylester Fri 30-Aug-24 06:59:10

Good morning all from a brightish North Leicestershire.

Our gardener is coming this morning thank goodness!

Thank you all for your good wishes for DD1. She went home from hospital yesterday. She is still feeling really ill but her temp is back to normal and she has more antibiotics to take.

Have the best day possible everyone.

hollysteers Fri 30-Aug-24 07:06:53

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
My cold seems short lived, although yesterday I was coughing and missed a play at our local theatre second time in a row for fear of a coughing spasm.
I’m off into Cheshire by train to meet up with old pianist friend for lunch etc. I’ve warned him about my cough but he doesn’t want to cancel.

Hope you see a good improvement in your knee Ash and things settle down Mick. Yes, I’ve been wondering re Urms.
Thoughts to all🌺

hollysteers Fri 30-Aug-24 07:08:16

Thoughts to your daughter kitty, hope she feels better soon💐

Redcar Fri 30-Aug-24 07:10:52

Good morning everyone from mid Essex where it’s dry, sunny, but a cool 9 degrees according to my garden thermometer.
Yesterday I collected a prescription from the pharmacy in the morning. Went to the podiatrist in the afternoon, couldn’t believe the amount of traffic about at 3 in the afternoon, and the schools aren’t back yet! Had my car washed in the car wash next to the podiatrist, so it looks lovely & shiny again. Little things please little minds!
Nothing much planned for today, but a stack of ironing to do & it’s bingo in the village hall this evening.
ash I hope your knee continues to improve, grannyivy I hope you soon recover from your cough.
Have the best day possible everyone.

BlueSapphire Fri 30-Aug-24 07:14:04

Good morning everyone from a very bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, another fine day forecast. It feels quite chilly at the moment.

Had a busy morning yesterday making the sitting room look presentable, then after an early lunch hopped on the bus to town.

Met my two friends at the cinema where we enjoyed 'Widow Cliquot', the story of Veuve Cliquot and her struggle to establish the champagne house, at a time (early 1800s) when the thought of women running anything was anathema to men, and in fact against the law in France.
Saw trailers for three more films that I would like to see.

A friend is coming for coffee ☕ this morning, so I am looking forward to a good catch-up, then may pop down to Sainsbury's to pick up my duvet, as have had a text to say it is ready.

Then the back grass to cut after that....

Hoping all have a pleasant day.

baubles Fri 30-Aug-24 07:19:09

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where we have grey skies again.

That sounds promising Ash, I hope the effect of the injection is long lasting.

My yarn group started up again last night after our summer (ha!) break. It was good to see everyone again.

Today is childminding day but DS has a day off so we can go a little later, otherwise we’d already be on the road.

Wishing everyone a good day.

Mizuna Fri 30-Aug-24 07:19:49

Good morning from a deliciously cool, brightening Cornwall, where I'm enjoying coffee on my patio, with the aroma of freshly baking pastries wafting over the wall from the café next door. My heating sneaked on in the night, set for 18.5° so I'd better lower it a bit.

Stripped my neighbour's patio bare yesterday, mostly brambles and weeds but a lovely cluster of ferns which I'll nurture in my space. Today I'll clear away the detritus, preserving her leafmould for myself, so that she can lay plastic and pebbles and have none of the nasty green things ie plants, which she can't stand! 😆 Also I must get some practical help from Santander but that's just down the road so it won't interrupt my 'gardening' for long.

Grandmabatty Fri 30-Aug-24 07:27:00

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 10° and sunny. Hoorah!! GrannyIvy I hope you feel better soon.
Yesterday I made a lovely white bloomer. I've managed to only have two slices. I love homemade bread. I got many of my tubs and baskets emptied of the remains of plants and did three washes. I washed all the cushion covers too. They get grubby with sticky little fingers on them.
Today dgs1's school is having a family picnic,so I'm glad the weather is decent. After that, I'll sit in dds house when she picks up dgs1 from school while dgs2 naps. Then home for a Tesco delivery. A pleasant day ahead. Have a good day all.

Marydoll Fri 30-Aug-24 07:33:17

Good morning all from a cool Glasgow, where it is 10°C.

Glad to hear the injection went well, Ash, have a restful day.
I am pleased to hear your daughter is home, * Kitty*, what a worrying time for you..

Yesterday was full on with BabyD. It was 7pm, before we took her home. We had torrential rain on and off, so we didn't get out much.
I had the bright idea of getting her out in the rain in her new puddle suit and wellies. She refused point blank to wear the wellies!!

Dollie came to visit after school and kept Baby amused. A good catch up on her school news and impressing us with her times table knowledge passed the time pleasantly.
She couldn't wait to tell me that teachers kept asking if she was my granddaughter. I am infamous. 😉
DIL asked why Baby was drawing on a hospital letter. A hospital letter??????
Apparently DH had received a letter about the RSV vaccine and as is his want and dumped it on the coffee table. 🤬
I hope the multicoloured letter cheers up the staff.

DH is off on a golf outing with DS1 down to Girvan. They will be away all day and depending on how I feel, once I have come to , I may go on an adventure on my own.. Watch this space. 😉

Enjoy your meeting with your cousin , GMattie and have a good day folks.

Stilllearning Fri 30-Aug-24 07:35:11

Early for me good morning from South Lanarkshire where it looks calm and bright, hopefully it will last today. A lovely lunch with Grammaretto yesterday in her town which I have never visited before and a lovely bus journey en route, what a nice way to spend the day.

I’m a bit wary after*Georges Gran*’s tribulations with Sky as they are coming to me today to install multi room service for me! I’ve got my fingers crossed.

Glad all went well Ash with your injection, I hope it settles soon.

I’ve just written a list of calls that have to be made today when I’m stuck at home anyway so if I get that done it will declutter my mind a bit which will be good.

Hope all who are or who have poorly family members, have a better day.

harrigran Fri 30-Aug-24 07:38:27

Good morning from a dry NE.
Went to bed early last night because I was so tired, slept for 8.5 hours.
DIL and GD1 came yesterday lunchtime and I went to the GP surgery for my check up.
I asked the nurse to include more blood checks in an attempt to get to the bottom of my feeling unwell for so long.
She was a lovely nurse and listened while I poured out my woes. She said she thought I should see a doctor and like magic she arranged an appointment for Tuesday.
Today DD and SIL are taking me out to lunch, looking forward to hearing about her holiday.
Have a good day.
.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 30-Aug-24 07:42:30

Morning all, The Imp and 9yr old are here today, no plans. Will see what they want to do.

Meeting up with friends for dinner this evening in local Indian restaurant.

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️

cornergran Fri 30-Aug-24 07:50:13

Morning Mick, morning All. A mix of cloud and sun forecast for our corner of Somerset. Cooler out there.

A thoroughly enjoyable day with our grandson yesterday. He had a lot of fun, wants to repeat our activities with his parents, a good sign. We kept up without problem as he slowed his pace to ours. A kind lad. His view of the world, he sees it via an autistic filter, is often fascinating and in a lot of cases very sensible. Mr C managed to fall in a play park, fortunately landing on a soft surface, no harm done other than to his pride and my blood pressure. I enjoyed the chance to have a go on a swing to the great amusement of Mr C, the photographic evidence is not for sharing!

A meeting to attend this morning where I must try not to be steamrollered by a forceful member. We agree about virtually nothing. I’m hoping Mr C will iron bed clothes while I’m out

With thoughts to all managing challenging health, hope Friday is kind to us all.

Taichinan Fri 30-Aug-24 07:53:34

Good morning all from a beautiful sunny start on the Angus coast. Chilly though!
If that's your patio Mizuna it looks really lovely. How strange your neighbour doesn't want plants.
So glad your DD is back in her own bed Kitty and that your knee injection went well Ash.
I was really tired yesterday after tai chi - I must have worked then hard! - so little was done in the afternoon. Today I must go down to the new M&S in Dundee to get DS1 a birthday present. I find him very difficult to buy for. Hard to believe that that tiny little scrap who came into the world 57 years ago weighing 6lb 1oz is now this enormous 6ft 4ins bearded and balding giant! And a grandfather to boot!!
Enjoy this 'season of mists and mellow fruitfulness' everyone x
