Listening to radio this morning I heard that tickets for Oasis concert at Wembley where over 400.00 each!!! This is without hotel, travel and catering costs on the day 🙈🙈🙈

I, personally, would not pay those deliberately inflated ticket prices (dynamic pricing), no matter how much I liked a group. They should be sold at the original price quoted, not then inflated “due to demand” once you reach the top of the queue. It’s profiteering greed by the organisers, pure and simple.

If I was fit enough & younger I would pay to see Status Quo. Seen many many times but had to stop gig going when Rheumatoid arthritis hit badly! Worth every penny I’ve spent seeing them! Best band ever!!!

I saw them once when they came here and played outside - for some reason it was free, we just wandered down through the park!

Some friends wanted to see Status Quo so we joined them. Unfortunately our seats were very close to the some very big speakers, it was very noisy, I think the show was called Heavy Traffic and my DH had problems with his hearing for about ten days afterwards. Then there was the UB40 show with a very strange smell all around us, DH and I didn’t know what it was but somebody enlightened us.

Everyone is different.
One persons priorities aren't another's.
The music some enjoy doesn't appeal to everyone else.

I'm surprised this needs explaining...

I have been to dozens of concerts over the years but if I was given seats for Oasis I would chuck them away in the street so if anyone saw them who actually wanted one they might find it free of charge. I have never paid for a concert on this modern dynamic pricing system, in factI went to so many Eric Clapton concerts that the management company would advise me in advance and ask me how many tickets I would like.

rocketship Tue 03-Sept-24 13:27:37

It's not just the cost of concert tickets. Sooo many people who complain about the price of gas/petrol, groceries, etc. etc. are still packing restaurants every night. Priorities~~~

We paid £150 each to see Roxy Music in Glasgow last year and it was worth every penny, it was their 50th anniversary tour.

MissAdventure Tue 03-Sept-24 12:55:26

Good for them.

I have seen no shortage of money with people. Some covered in tattoos i was shocked at how expensive they are. Young people, lots seem to have far away holidays, at 65 im still waiting. Queues everywhere for coffees, meals out tables all booked. Etc

Wow. That's almost twice as expensive as good seats at Covent Garden.

Oasis are at Covent Garden as well?

Actually how lovely that all can go, do, see as we please.

Hammo Tue 03-Sept-24 12:40:58

Steady on Casdon 🤦🏼‍♀️!! Remember we all need a wee nowadays 😂!!

MissAdventure Tue 03-Sept-24 12:33:37

Of course there will be, just as there are people who pay for things THEY enjoy.
Everything today is outrageously priced compared to when you could get a night at the cinema, a bag of chips, your bus fare home and still have change from two bob.
Or one bob... not sure how bobs work. smile

I'm one of the lucky ones who wouldn't be interested in going no matter how much I was paid to be there!

I am too

GrannyIvy Tue 03-Sept-24 12:28:54

I’m sorry no I would not pay outrageous prices. It is ridiculous I think!!

There will always be those who will pay though🤷‍♀️

This is the sort of thread that makes me ponder on why I bother with GN 🤷‍♀️

It has gone the way of so many lately, judgemental of others who have the nerve to spend their money as they wish!

I think some of the posts were tongue-in-cheek, GrannyGravy13

I know, it's quite sad how these threads always seem to descend into the same old debate.

DeeDe Tue 03-Sept-24 12:18:19

Oh I’d have loved to have seen them, saw the Rolling Stones and the Animals in the 60s (House of the Rising sun)
can't remember how much? not a lot I’m sure, I was a student nurse
Would not pay these over the top prices they do today though
Not in a million years, I’d only pay the original ticket price
It’s daylight robbery… 😳

You can't tell people how to spend their money. I would not pay £1.00 to attend their gigs.

If they paid me £10,000 I might be persuaded

Nicolaed Tue 03-Sept-24 12:13:21

It’s not just the face value of the tickets, it’s the extortionate amount they are going for through the profiteering networks. Someone was bragging the other day about making a profit of £1000 per ticket and don't even get me started on the fakes that will undoubtedly be flooding the market. More money than sense some folk. What is so special about Oasis anyway?

People are always moaning about the cost of living and that they can’t put food on the table, or pay their energy bills. And it’s these people (not all of them I may add!) who may smoke or vape or need beer/wine in the fridge as a part of their life. They also want the state to continually support their lifestyle. Get priorities right and they’ll all manage!

What a perfect right wing response. FWIW vaping doesn’t cost very much, I spend about £10 a month on eliquid. Cigarettes cost more than that per pack. I don’t know anyone who is struggling and drinking wine. I used to but had to stop because I couldn’t afford it. Yes I claim UC but I also have a small business and care for my ASD son. Once again people are up in arms trying to castigate the poor because believing that people have no money is an uncomfortable truth.

Most people do not have the money for concerts. I know people who would love to see Oasis but cannot afford it. Its only those people who have plenty of money (the rich) that will be going.

I don't think that's necessarily true. I know plenty of people who love going to concerts, but are certainly far from rich. Some may have a little disposable income and that's what they choose to spend it on - others may save every penny to go and see their favourite band.
