Good morning all from very gloomy Wiltshire.
A momentous day yesterday as DD2 and her fiancé got married. It was a quick registry office wedding followed by a lunch and then champagne back at our house. Only both sets of parents, DGD3 and DGS2 attended. They were unable to find a registrar who was available to officiate on Saturday when the main event takes place at an organic farm on the Berkshire Downs, even though the venue was booked nearly a year ago. That role will be now be taken on by DS who I’m sure will do a great job as a celebrant. I’d like to say the GCs were on their best behaviour but can’t!
Today DGD3 is back at school locally and DGD2 starts in Year 7 at her comprehensive. I was told it has the largest catchment area in England at 60 square miles because it’s very rural. Her brother goes into year 9.
Hope your knee gets some benefit soon Ashcombe. Nice to see returning posters. Hope you had a lovely time with your family in Spain FGT. Have a good day everyone.
Good morning from an overcast NE, no rain forecast.
Yesterday was GD2's 15th birthday, she went to the Turner art exhibition in Newcastle.
This afternoon I have a doctors appointment, hopefully he has my blood test results. My sister is going with me.
Haven't heard from DD so am assuming she made it back to Brussels without incident. Last week a TGV hit a tractor on a level crossing which caused delays.
Have a good day.
Good morning from sunny Lancashire. There is a blackbird singing outside my window, a beautiful sound.
I have had very little sleep so I am going to try and sleep now.
Happy Tuesday 🌻
What IS the problem with HQ?
Yes, some posters can be controversial, but I can’t see anything problematic in any of urms’ posts…
Perhaps sadly she’ll go the way of many a poster, with no recourse to justice. How dreadful!
Good morning from a drizzly Suffolk where we’ve obviously had some rain overnight, the main effect of which has been not to water the garden but batter the roses.
I have my monthly last remaining work related activity tomorrow….only a morning meeting. I shall spend today reading a mass of papers. I keep thinking of resigning but I seem to be somewhat reluctant to retire completely. I enjoy and value what I do and really like my fellow members. Perhaps when I’m 80 which will be soon enough!
I haven’t yet read your posts but I hope all can have the best day possible.
Good morning from the Essex coast where the sun is trying to make an appearance.
I have a dental appointment this morning and lots of admin to tackle this afternoon.
I'm sorry to hear about*Urms*, what is going on here !!!
Enjoy your day whatever you may find yourself getting up to xx

It is all very unsettling, to say the least.
However, I have decided that it is best to no longer comment on any threads pertaining to this and risk deletion or suspension.
My GN friends have kept my spirits up on many an occasion and have kept me going on the bad days. I do not want to lose this.
Congratulations on the nuptials, Glammagran, I hope all goes well on Saturday.
Good morning all and it’s dull and drizzly here in Essex.
Firstly- what’s going on ! Thanks for letting us know GG.
Hopefully sense will reign and we’ll see our friend back.
Yesterday’s U3A’s speaker was very amusing and entertaining ‘Vicars son to BBC producer.’ And he didn’t go over his time 🙏.
DGD 1 and her lovely dad popped in to see us in the evening. We chatted away for a couple of hours . Her dad is just completing his assessments to become a Foster father. He will be wonderful and any child who is ‘loaned’ to him, will be very lucky indeed. Dgd1 is ‘home’ for a week and spending time with family and friends.
Today one DGD returns to school, 3 others tomorrow and another starting work (trainee) . Good luck to them all. The summer has flown by.
Bridge for me today and a bit of housework. (Not too much) .
Take care and look after each other. 🌻
Good morning from an overcast W Kent. It should be an interesting day as we are going to a friend’s photo art exhibition. Following up with lunch out.
glammagran the wedding sounds just right
Best wishes all round
Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle.
I went into town briefly yesterday for various items to find the whole pedestrianised area is about to be re-configured, I believe so that 'events' can be held. They'd better not be cutting down the trees or I shall come and tie myself to one!
Today I shall probably be tempted out into the garden at some point, but first, a little more laundry and a good vacuuming top and bottom which I failed to get around to yesterday.
Urms...I'm sorry, your posts will be missed even if I didn't generally agree with the ones elsewhere. I hope matters go as well as possible for you and your man. Good luck!
And have a good day everyone.
I agree MD. I rarely if ever comment on any thread, for fear of either attracting criticism or being banned or else am anodyne.
Good morning all. What a horrendous day it was here on the Angus coast yesterday - I haven't seen a day of rain like that for many a long year! It was cold too and the heated throw has found it's way back to the sitting room for evening use. I didn't plug it in, but was tempted!
Good luck to all the school returners and starters down south this week. Ours have been back for a while now - it must be nearly half term!!
A bit horrified by the Urms debacle. I have absolutely no idea how she could have fallen foul. The words 'totalitarian state' come to mind .....
I'm off to a nice, calming tai chi class soon. Enjoy your day everyone x
Good morning from a wet Cambs.
I have only been on GN for a few months and feel very sad for Urms I have enjoyed reading her posts and will miss her. Is there nothing that can be done by HQ to reinstate her.
I think am going to the garden centre this morning and then plan to sort the airing cupboard out later. I have the 10 & 5 year old tmrw as school not opting now till the end of the month so going to prepare things for a crafty day with them. They have a full day out with mummy and friends today so I am guessing a quiet one on the cards for tmrw. They are so ready to get back into school such a shame there is a delay and pretty devastating for lots of the parents!! I will enjoy having them lots over the next few weeks but the situation is not good!!
Have a good day everyone
Morning from a damp S Hants, rain overnight.
I’m very disappointed by the news about Urms admin encourage us to be courteous to each other.
Just finishing my admin from the voluntary work yesterday, we were awful at quiz last night.
A number of errands to be run today, another grandson off to seniors tomorrow, he’ll be cycling with a friend.
🦩🦩
Good morning from South Lanarkshire. Pleased to see a little brightness in the sky after yesterday’s horrendous rain.
We’re off to DS’s to do an extra couple of days childcare, it’s going to be a tiring week.
I’m so sad and upset for Urms to be cut off from a source of friendship and support seems rather cruel.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.
Sorry that the Urms debacle is unresolved and still hope for a happier solution. As Marydoll says, safer not to comment, but that doesn’t feel right.
Shopping this morning and domestic admin to do but that is about it for today. Time to cull some exhausted clothes from their various hiding places, and to admit that there are some things I am never going to fit into again. Just the job for a miserable wet day.
Good morning from an overcast Oxfordshire, no promised rain as yet, the dog let us sleep in until 8.30 which was kind of her, at home she gets MissOops up at 6 am,
A delivery today of the last piece of our Bathroom equipment should arrive, it’s come from Spain so fingers crossed it will be in one piece.
Apart from that another day with a hot water bottle on my ear.
If you are reading this Urms I hope you will soon be back with us, hope you and Himself are ok.
Have a good day everyone, hugs to those who are poorly or stressed.
grannygravy I’m also about 20 minutes from Hyde Hall. DH and I used to go frequently, but now I’m on my own and am not as mobile as I’d like to be, I don’t go as often. The grandchildren like it there, I don’t think they’ve discovered rolling down the hills yet, but like the play equipment.
Sad to learn that Urms isn’t allowed to post anymore.
Good morning from Durham - had to charge my phone before posting. Yesterday with DGS1 was lovely, even if the weather was odd - grey, damp, misty but weirdly warm - hope today is a bit better. He loves that farm, especially the bouncy pillows. I’ve had an early pic of him in school uniform today- new year, new teacher. I hope it’s ok. After I took him home, I collected Little Dog and had a good walk with him - the light fades so quickly now, I was nearly caught out in the dark.
Today, two loads of laundry already out on the line, coffee with a friend to put the World to rights, then I’m taking DD2’s car to Kwikfit this afternoon for new tyres. She’s having a fabulously time in New York - I wish I could post a pic, but she’s very noticeable.
I shall miss Urms - I hope she can let another GN have news of her DH. Mystified by it all.
Best wishes to all. X
I’m truly sad to see where GN is going. It’s as if the moderators want rid of anyone who doesn’t have a particular ideology. I very rarely comment on political threads as I’d only end up saying something controversial. Urms and GG13 have always been such lovely posters and I guess my affiliations lie with them.
Good morning Mick and all from a brightening northwest coast.
Nice lunch, my treat for friend who turned 90 recently. He is always adamant that I join him in a pudding, which is often too much for me after the main course, so I did and felt the effects later on…
After a ‘big’ shop home and DD arrived later from the south for a few days. We both had an earlyish night.
She is off for a run now and I will have a warble for the music club. I’m a bit croaky after my cold.
No news yet re my hernia op/surgical abscessed tooth removal even though I have had my pre op. It affects making plans.
Thoughts to our missing posters, it’s all a mystery to me…
I always seem to post late on this GM thread so don’t suppose anyone reads it, but good morning anyway.
I’m another one Redcar who lives quite close to Hyde Hall and am a frequent visitor. It’s lovely there - for all sorts of reasons.
But we’re away for a few days on the south coast and will be taking the ferry on Thursday to the IOW for four nights. A visit to Osborne House is a must.
I’m so sorry our Urms is having such trouble posting - I had assumed she was taking a break whilst away with her DH & family. I so hope we see her back very soon.
Morning Grannyme6 enjoy the IoW.
