Good morning from a still dark Bristol.
The forecast is for rain; I’m debating about going to my outdoor tai chi class due to the long walk there and back. If it does rain, I get absolutely soaked…
My “salon” will be this afternoon for badly needed haircuts for all three of us! Summer hair growth.
The head gardner came yesterday and my upstairs neighbour and I talked to him, asked him to persuade the management to remove a dreadfully neglected and frankly ugly hedge outside my window. The kerb appeal is nil. With any luck, the cost of removing it will be more than recouped by the lower maintenance costs. Watch this space…
Glad to see FriedGreenTomatoes posting. 👋 Hope that problems are sorted out by MN soon. 🤞

Good morning from a dry but still dark N Surrey. Just tiptoed outside in my pyjamas to put the food collection bin by the gate which I forgot to do yesterday evening. I also forgot the garden rubbish bin which is down the garden. That will have to wait now for 2 weeks unless they collect later in the morning. Sometimes they collect at crack of dawn and of course will be today!!
It's quite warm out there. We are forecast rain which the garden needs, but I don't. I would like a clear sky and sunshine after the gloomy day yesterday. My day begins. Wagons roll as they used to say on a TV programme whose name escapes me

HelterSkelter1 Tue 03-Sept-24 06:16:44

How can it escape me when it was Wagon Train. Just googled it and oh those familiar faces.

RosesandLilac Tue 03-Sept-24 06:17:59

Good morning everyone, I have no idea what the weather’s doing here in south Glos 🤷🏼‍♀️, it feels rather cool in my bedroom.
Yesterday was a drizzly one, not that I minded, muggy too.
I have to collect a sleep monitor from the hospital this morning and return it first thing tomorrow, what fun 🙄 My consultant suspects that my O2 levels drop off at night, sleep apnoea? I certainly know I snore because I wake myself up!
Oh joys……….
Anyway, beyond that I will get the bus in from the bottom of the hill, leaving my car in the park, and I might have a quick wander in town if I feel like it.
Have a lovely day if you can 🌹

Grandmabatty Tue 03-Sept-24 06:21:04

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7° and dry. The temperature must have dropped significantly last night because my windows have condensation on them. Poor quality double glazing. GrandMattie I hope you have success with the hedge removal. HelterSkelter1 I frequently have a dawn trip with the buckets! Fortunately it doesn't disturb my neighbours.
Yesterday was hard work. Dgs2 was quite badly behaved and screamed a lot. He was threatened with being put to bed. It isn't entirely his fault because he is wound up be his big brother who knows exactly which buttons to press. Most of the day was fine, just the last couple of hours.
Today we'll see what transpires. Possibly a park visit if the rain stays away. Yesterday the weather was awful. We're also going to collect leaves to make a picture for his other granny. Fortunately I slept better last night, so my state of mind should be calmer. Have a good day all.

Mizuna Tue 03-Sept-24 06:29:07

Good morning from a clear-skied Cornwall, sunny later. Lots of paperwork sorted yesterday, how smug I feel. 🤣 Collected a lovely throw from Argos and as MacDonald's was nearby I had lunch of a spicey wrap there. Today must go to our main station and buy my ticket for a trip to Torquay on Friday when I'm meeting a Gransnetter; I'll leave you to guess who. 😁 Am very excited!

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 03-Sept-24 06:50:23

Morning all from West Oxfordshire

I will be helping OH as best I can today as he draws the honey off from his hives. He will set off this morning to retrieve the frames and bring them home. He has hired a sort of spinning device and he will put the honey into some large drums. He will only put a little into jars and will store the rest until he is ready to ‘jar’ it. A very warm, sticky day looms!

Have a good day and it was nice to see a newly refreshed Urms return!

Ashcombe Tue 03-Sept-24 06:50:36

Good morning from an overcast Torbay but at least it’s not raining which it was for much of yesterday.

Today my DGD (the dancer) in Cheshire starts attending high school and is very excited. Unusually, it’s a comprehensive just for girls. Her older brother already attends the boys' school. Both were once grammar schools and have good reputations.

I hope your DGS2 is calmer today, Grandmabatty and everyone has as good a day as possible. I’ll be helping with Props this morning.

Good morning from an overcast Malta where the high is still in the mid thirties.

Had a nice surprise yesterday when DD3 asked if I would keep littlest while she went shopping with his brother. He was utterly adorable and surprises me with how much he is understanding. All of a sudden he’s gone from a baby to a little boy, if you know what I mean!

DD1 also called round for an hour or so. She had been kayaking in the morning and her photos looked so lovely and tranquil.

I went to bed early and set the alarm for 2.15 so I could watch the tennis. It didn’t start until after 3am so I could have had longer but never mind, it was a good match. I’m now tired out and feeling like crawling back into bed but I will go and shower then do some cleaning.

I can guess who you are meeting Mizuna, how lucky for you both.

Best of luck to your DGD Ash, it’s quite a big step isn’t it. My DGD also started high school recently and seems to have settled well.

Wishing a good day to all. ☀️

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It’s a rather gloomy start to our South Yorkshire day, but it’s supposed to be dry at some point. I had a very quiet day yesterday after my stomach upset, and ate a light diet. It seems to be back to normal now🤞🏻. I was invited out to eat in the evening with DD and the menfolk but thought it best to say no. There will be other times. A visit to the garden centre today and a walk round a nearby park should just about sort my day out.
Have the best day you can folks.

Morning everyone it’s grey here in S E Essex.

It’s the 9yr olds last day of the holidays today so I am taking him and The Imp to a very large Soft Play Centre. Yesterday we went to the Beach, ended up in the fun fair and amusements (I am such a pushover over 💙🤣)

The builders are here to plaster and re-wire one of the guest bedrooms (started in April but stopped due to structural issues) The monitoring company are also here to monitor

Wishing you all a happy day 🙋‍♀️

brook2704 Tue 03-Sept-24 07:13:14

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry and bright, unlike yesterday when it rained all day
I’m looking forward to a volunteering session this morning followed by lunch and then I’ll be home later this afternoon. Hopefully I’ll get the grass cut if it’s dried out
Hope today goes well with the boys grandmabatty and good luck to your DGD as she starts high school Ash
Welcome back to fgt 😀
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

BlueSapphire Tue 03-Sept-24 07:16:30

Good morning everyone from a grey and overcast Northampton, rain forecast this morning. Was fancying a lie-in this morning after yesterday's early start, but woke at 6, and just couldn't get off again.

After yoga yesterday my friend and I invited the class to join us for coffee in a newly opened cafe close by. To our surprise the whole class came, all eight of us! The cafe was clean and bright, the coffee good, and the socialising wonderful!

May wash the towels this morning as it promises to be a dry afternoon, and will also change the bedding so that will be ready to wash first thing tomorrow.

Hope to join my walk group after lunch for some exercise and good company, not to mention the home-made cake at the end of it...

Hoping it brightens up for all today.

cornergran Tue 03-Sept-24 07:19:51

Morning Mick, morning All from an overcast corner of Somerset. Forecast tells me it will rain this morning and clear by lunch time. We’ll see.

Recycling centre visit accomplished between showers yesterday then we spent the day pootling round stores looking for different curtains for the living room. Will order some later today.

Matters domestic will fill the day. We’re in desperate need of a clean, there is ironing to do and a grocery delivery will arrive.

Good wishes to all the young ones changing schools. Two of ours are anxious enough about beginning a new academic year in the same school. Neither like change.

Hope Tuesday is gentle with us all.

madeleine45 Tue 03-Sept-24 07:20:02

good morning everyone from a dull north yorkshire. Got the washer going but cant tell yet whether it is going to brighten up or rain! Hope it is the former!. My laptop has gone into some odd format and so today I am taking it to someone who is up in these things to see if it can be set back to how I like it (and know what to do with it) . Its not that I think it has been hacked or anything but I am hesitant to try it on my own in case I wipe important stuff off by mistake. So hopefully it will be set up in a better way and I shall learn a bit more about how to set it up myself. Went in some trepidation yesterday to make an appointment at the dentist, only to find that the dentist that I know and trust has retired and so I shall have to have someone new and now have to ring up a central place to book it cant book it when I was actually stood there. I am a dental phobic and so from going in making an effort to do things properly came out with my heart racing and feeling very uptight. Calmed down now and so will have to sort it out today. Hope the honey whizzing goes well and wish everyone a good day

Just received this, if I am consigned to the dog house oh well!

kittylester Tue 03-Sept-24 07:21:42

Good morning all from a damp North Leicestershire. I think the overnight rain has stopped.

We saw DD1 and DGD1 yesterday. DD1 was very tired but feeling better.

Choir starts up again today - always fun and this evening we have a neighbours get-together here. We were hoping to sit in the garden but will probably end up inside. I love these evenings - no effort beyond opening crisps etc and pouring drinks. And, lots of chat.

Have the best day possible everyone.

What on earth is going on here? I shall miss FGS/Urms. The moderators appear to be acting very oddly.

Redcar Tue 03-Sept-24 07:30:24

Good morning everyone from mid essex where it’s grey and damp, but mild.
Yesterday I went to Hyde Hall (local RHS gardens) and had a wander around. Some lovely late summer flowers out, but signs that the gardens are suffering from lack of rain, like all our gardens. Then a good look at all the lovely things in the shop, I always buy cards and presents there.
In the afternoon my son in law brought DGDs to see me before they go back to school today.
I may go to the garden centre this morning to get some winter flowering plants for the garden pots. This afternoon I’ll see my friend with dementia.
I hope you have a good day with your grandsons grandmabatty.
Have a good day everyone.

Beechnut Tue 03-Sept-24 07:33:38

Good morning everyone from Severnside

That’s glum news GG 😳

GrannyGravy13 Tue 03-Sept-24 07:33:50

Redcar I am only 20 minutes from Hyde Hall.

Love it there as do the GC (especially rolling down the big hill at the back (wild part by the bees))

monk08 Tue 03-Sept-24 07:35:27

Good morning all from a dull Black country bin men have just arrived.
Hairdressers today and then later we will go for a carvery, another voucher has appeared in our inbox for a free meal.
Have a good day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️

Marydoll Tue 03-Sept-24 07:42:53

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, but it is only 8°C.
We had torrential rain all day yesterday, not the best of weather, when you have a sixteen month old to entertain. The journey home was horrendous, with floods, temp sets of traffic lightscand a red light jumper nearly hitting us.

What on earth is going on with Urms? What a shame.

Have a good day folks, what ever your plans.
