Re GG's post, this quote (taken from a comment posted by GNHQ on the original thread re re-installing members) might explain why GFT has not been allowed to continue, then again it might not...I'm just posting it for information in case people havent seen it:

'Banned posters are not allowed to start new accounts and will be banned again when we are aware they have rejoined. Suspended posters can have their accounts reinstated if they agree to post within the Talk guidelines.'

As a reader only normally I am surprised to hear that actually Urmstongran had been suspended.
I had wrongly assumed from comments she was merely having technical difficulties.
This put a whole new light on the whole matter.
I do know the politically she had very strong and In my opinion rigid views very much opposed to mine but I can’t comment on what she posted on those threads as I try to keep away from them.
Per haps if she had kept to her very chatty posts on here and occasionally in the kitchen about her nearest and dearest as many do the situation would not have arisen.
However as I said I don’t know what warranted her suspension I will not speculate.
Maybe if everyone did as I suggested GN would be a very boring site.

Good morning from coastal Essex

Sun is shining and quite warm, but lots of big fluffy clouds of all colours.

Have a good day one and all smile

Thanks, GG13. Seems GNers are essentailly being told to self-censor or get kicked off the site. 'Twould seem GNHQ come from the same place as all other suppressors of free speech since Demosthenes. Hey ho.

I too ann am mainly a reader and rarely post- never have much of interest to post tbh.

I thought the same re the reason for U's issues ie technical difficulties and poor wifi whilst on holiday- all seems very odd doesn't it?

I have been a member of GN for about 12 years and have found the 'Netters' site to be a caring and helpful place, whilst navigating life's changes and events- gaining advice and support from those who willingly offered it, sharing their wisdom of the years, if ever I asked for advice/help etc re life's ups and downs.

I have found GN to be a very welcome place particularly through the pandemic years, where I felt a sense of community and all of us helping each other through the unknown albeit virtually - it'd be a shame if that caring feeling dissipates; we shouldn't be frightened of posting our thoughts and feelings, so long as they arent offensive or deliberately upsetting to others of course.

Sometimes the nuances of the written word can come across not quite how they should, which could of course become an issue in a virtual community, yet there are gentle threads which have been going for a long time with very little issue, where those who contribute are friends many of whom have never met, so it can be done and I hope that those currently on 'the naughty step' are given a reprieve very soon.
