Barkeepers Friend is like magic dust. It's similar to Vim/Ajax but it doesn't scratch. My old cast-iron bath came up very well with a good sprinkle of that and a go with the scrubber. I have a very recently installed new one now, which hasn't needed industrial strength treatment. I'm told it needs diluted washing up liquid to keep it looking good, but time will tell.

Perhaps the mineral level in the water - we have to use vinegar. Washing up liquid would be my choice. Alas, vinegar is needed.

I'm trying the vinegar mixed with washing up liquid method the moment .

I use 1/4 dish washing liquid. 1/4 water. 1/2 white vinegar. Pour into an empty fairy liquid bottle. Shake. Squirt round a damp bath and wipe well with a Spontex polyester type bathroom cloth. Rinse off really well. The vinegar gets rid of the scum and limescale and the fairy liquid gives it a good clean. No strong chemical smells. And doesnt scratch the surface.

Have you tried Pink Stuff? Either the spray or the cream. If you've got a difficult stain to shift it might be easier to smear the cream on and leave it then wipe off.

I started with spray bleach -it didn't shift the scum after scrubbing .
Then , washing up liquid on a long handled brush , which is hard work .
It hasn't completely removed the scum .
I was wondering about a cleaning product that I could spray on , leave for a while and spray off .
My back hurts a great deal - that's why I'm looking for a cheaty method !

I use washing up liquid and a round sponge on a long handle that I bought in Lakeland years ago. Wet the sponge, put a bit of washing up liquid on, sponge the bath and shower down.

You could try steam cleaning it and a power scrubber sounds just the ticket!

I haven't got an electric scrubber, but I use a long handled brush like the washing up brushes.

What’s the best thing to clean a bath? Nothing works so far……

I recently started cleaning my bath with washing up liquid. And the sink. I don’t know why I’ve use stuff like Cif for years. A tiny amount, let it stand for a while and then rinse it off. No longer sit down in the bath and realise it’s a bit gritty because I haven’t rinsed the Cif off properly. I did see an extending brush for cleaning cars ( I always have to stand on a stool to clean the top ) that I think would work equally as well in the bathroom.

I've a wonderful bath cleaner. Quite attractive as well.

A plastic trigger spray bottle filled with vinegar.

My lovely husband sprays with vinegar and brushes down.

I just wipe it down after having a bath, before I get out.

You don't need to go to Amazon- Easylife have a range of products to make life easier amd may well be cheaper.

I'm sure that could have been used as a weapon, too

Didn't see the photo of the woman looking ecstatic in receiving a scrubber for Christmas !
Forget diamonds and pearls - all we want is a cleaning device .
I think that one Christmas my mother received a prong device for baking potatoes in the oven and went berserk !
