Is Disney children only, are you a Disney loving adult?

A bit of plagiarism here from Mumsnet but a question I often ask myself this question.
I couldn’t spend a day at a Disney theme park, it’s everything I hate.
I always think it’s a little odd seeing adults with Disney clothing and accessories.
There is a famous Walliams and Lucas sketch that sums it up, I will search for a link.

Wouldn't wear Disney clothing as an adult.

I wasn't over the moon with Disney theme parks but did love Universal Studios and had lots of fun at water parks. ACs and GCs enjoyed their first visit to Disney but got bored quite quickly.

Both ACs and GCs enjoyed Disney as children but they all grew out of it by the time they were about 10, although we all have a lovely memory of a film or a book. I had a Cinderella book as a child that I loved to death.

We loved it so much we bought a villa in Florida which we had for 10 years, loved everything about it and Universal Studios too; just the two of us.

My favourite Disney film is El Canto. I watch it with L’il Miss.

I loved going to see Frozen with the DGD, then we went to a Frozen singalong with a screening at a small theatre. The DGD refused to sing and then decided it was embarrassing to like Frozen!

For anyone who loves Disney, how about this Disney-themed house which is for sale in Rhyl?

Apart from the Disney bits, there are reasonably priced homes!

I knew it wasn't just Suffolk.

I forgot the quote the righmove Disney home.

I would have agreed with you Sago before I was 'blackmailed?' into going to Disneyland Parts by my DD and family. I was told I was being taken to Paris for a few days as a special birthday present.
I was totally dismayed and rather angry when we got there, but it really was a brilliant experience and I'd go again tomorrow, and spend more than one day there too.

Astonishing!

Thought you'd just love it! 😁

I dont think it would be my idea of an enjoyable holiday. I hate noise, crowds and queues.

However -

The first time I went to Las Vegas to present a paper at a hospitality conference I thought I was going to hate it. I loved it and subsequently spent a year working there at Uni of Nevada.

I was lucky enough to go to Disney World in Florida, in the mid 70s ... (yes I was taken out of school). Never been back but from what I can gather it's changed a great deal . Incredibly busy now.

No interest in dressing up as any Disney character either then or now.

Disney has lost the plot today. The huge PR problem with the new version of Snow White has been bruising.

Vegas is definitely Disney for adults

DH and I were also surprised, we had a fabulous time, despite neither of us gambling.

OH persuaded me to go to Florida one year 9he used to go with his ex) and he booked all the usual theme parks etc and I hated it. He didn't even like rides so I just couldn't see the point to be honest, a lot of expense to just say you've been IMO.

Love Las Vegas. And we went on a road trip to San Diego from there!

Just brilliant.

PARIS not parts!

BlueBelle Fri 06-Sept-24 16:54:57

Went to Paris with the grandkids when they were small Was very very unimpressed spent ages queuing in hot sun for a 3 minute ride The thought of Vegas makes me feel 🤮

Kids enjoyed it then as little ones although they were tired and hot and a bit grumpy with all the hanging around, they have never suggested going back !

The only modern film I ve enjoyed was Moana
Don’t understand adults and Disney !

Followiing an extremely stressful time for him, we took our eldest GS to EuroDisney. He desperately wanted to go, so four adults and the eight year old travelled on Eurostar, the adults prepared to 'put up with' what we had decided would be a four day noise and plastic experience.
I absolutely loved it - everything was sparkling, new, perfect, and I became a child again, sitting in teacups and whirling about, enjoying spectacular experiences at the various excellent venues, first class food in a five star hotel and the cherry on the cake was the Peter Pan ride, which took me back to being an eight year old myself, immersed in a book and film that I loved. I went on that twice. My GS was transformed by that short holiday.

I thoroughly enjiy Disney -a wonderful form of escapism .

GrannyGravy13 Fri 06-Sept-24 18:03:32

It all comes down to what individuals enjoy and expect of a holiday destination.

Isn’t it great that we are all different with different likes and expectations, otherwise the world would be so boring without choices.

LovesBach what a wonderful story 🥰

I took my children to Florida nearly 30 years ago, we had a great time, but tbh they enjoyed the hotel pool and the convertible car more. I have a fondness for Winnie the Pooh and have had two Disney watches with him on, that’s the extent of my ‘wearing’ Disney,

Chestnut Fri 06-Sept-24 23:46:25

Loved the old movies, Bambi, Fantasia, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Peter Pan, Snow White, but would never go to a theme park. On Disney+ my granddaughter is currently loving Pollyanna and The Parent Trap both with Hayley Mills!

D1 recently took GS and GD to Disneyland Paris for a long weekend while GS2 was on his school trip - cycling from Copenhagen to Berlin! I know hmm - and they had a great time. Staying on site in one of the Disney hotels they got an hour’s access to the park before the public were admitted, so they got up early, had an hour or so, then back to the hotel to “refuel” before going back to the park. It was the first day of the Olympics - if you remember it simply poured on the Saturday but they could do indoor stuff, have a swim and eventually settled for getting wet. They made the most of every minute and loved it!

Don’t fancy the theme parks at all, but my very serious BIL apparently was moved to tears by his visit to Disneyworld 😳
I hated cartoons as a child, although I didn’t mind the early Disney films.
It’s all too bright, tacky and obvious to me. Now there is a theme park in the Netherlands I do fancy based on a children’s book illustrator.

hollysteers Sat 07-Sept-24 10:55:01

Efteling Theme Park, Netherlands, looks lovely.
