My heart went out to Camilla

We’ve all suffered, haven’t we, the impromptu photo catching us at our worst ? I happily delete them meaning that there are fewer pics of me than of anybody else in the family!
However, heads should roll over this - the Queen’s rather orange makeup doesn’t seem to reach the sides of her face, or down her neck, her eyebrows are seriously overdone and the wrinkles which generally accompany our late 70’s alas all to clear in this close up.
The late Queen had wonderful skin throughout her life, but didn’t smoke and drank very little alcohol. Perhaps she also had a better make up

Everyone has "one of those days" and Royalty is no exception.

I think Camilla looks great since she has been with Charles, and vice versa.
I couldn't bear her at first, but it's easy to see they are a true love match.

Baggs
And besides, look at the comments in the OP bemoaning why it was a mean photo to publish noticing all the things she thought were "faults" instead of taking the picture as a whole of a healthy, strong woman with a bit of wind in her hair.
Or just look at the need here to call attention to a photo that many people including me hadn’t seen, offering opportunity for further comments about someone we don’t know.

BlueBelle Sat 07-Sept-24 18:01:53

She did indeed Anniebach I do feel she needed the attention
I remember the very first picture of her in a fairly see through dress !

MissAdventure Sat 07-Sept-24 18:00:39

She did court the press.
I've read that she carefully staged "impromptu" photos, so they would have the most impact.

Anniebach Sat 07-Sept-24 17:49:36

Sadly it was Diana who invited the press into her life and the lives of others.

MissAdventure Sat 07-Sept-24 17:45:48

That's exactly why I liked Diana.
Because she had flaws, and up until that time it wouldn't have been ever openly discussed.

BlueBelle Sat 07-Sept-24 17:44:00

Cossy you don’t have to be sorry but Diane was no angel and had affairs She was put on a pedestal by many but she was nt all innocent

I expect the Daily Mail is gnashing its teeth that they didnt get this shot. And they would have titled it with some faux sympathetic tosh. I doubt if she gives a toss. Enjoying heŕ weekend I hope and lining the budgie cage with the paper.

Good to see the Daily Mail getting it in the neck even though they didn’t publish the photo. 😂

Hang on in there, HelterSkelter!

MissAdventure Sat 07-Sept-24 17:32:28

She looks strong, capable, and healthy to me.
So the wind blew her hair...

Anniebach Sat 07-Sept-24 17:31:34

All she has endured for years I doubt this photograph will cause her upset

Visgir1 Sat 07-Sept-24 17:27:56

Poor woman no one likes photos like that.
Sure she'll shrug it off, no worries.
She had a life, she's not had daily pampering.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 07-Sept-24 16:57:02

I just had to laugh when I saw it! Not in a mean way (lack of sisterhood) but it was just so funny. I bet Camilla has bigger fish to fry right now rather than being upset she’s got an unflattering pic of herself in the newspapers. She strikes me as a confident, capable woman happy in her own skin. I rather like her. Bet she’s fun to socialise with. She calms her irascible husband when he gets tetchy. Well done that woman!

Boz I have just had a video link with my beautiful daughter. Oh dear that little screen of me. and I haven't been in the wind!

Never pose with your young beautiful GC. So depressing!

Someone asked: Why is it nearly always women who come in for this kind of flack? re a comment about cellulose on the backs of Princess Diana's legs.

There is a simple answer to this I think: females have always been judged on appearance and always will be. Men are too but it's for different reasons. For women it's about physical beauty (symmetry of form, hip to waist ratio (important for childbearing) etc) which is closely related, some people argue, to genetic success. For men it's more about strength, again for obvious reasons when you think about the trajectory of human progress.

I don't believe most people don't know this in their bones. And besides, look at the comments in the OP bemoaning why it was a mean photo to publish noticing all the things she thought were "faults" instead of taking the picture as a whole of a healthy, strong woman with a bit of wind in her hair.

I still think she looks great in it. 🪖

No-one likes to look at an unflattering photo of themselves so why should anyone think that Camilla won't be bothered? It is a cruel photo to put on the front page of a newspaper. What is it meant to achieve?

It sells papers!

Cossy Sat 07-Sept-24 16:23:59

I really couldn’t care less!

Callous, maybe. I’m glad she’s good for our King, but I cannot forget the heartbreak and humiliation she and Charles put both their spouses and their children through.

Sorry but that’s just how I feel!

HelterSkelter1 Sat 07-Sept-24 16:23:53

A good friend has been to a charity lunch held by Camilla and was prepared not to like her. But said she was absolutely lovely. Welcoming, warm, knowledgeable, interested in all her guests and had beautiful skin and hair.

I expect the Daily Mail is gnashing its teeth that they didnt get this shot. And they would have titled it with some faux sympathetic tosh. I doubt if she gives a toss. Enjoying heŕ weekend I hope and lining the budgie cage with the paper.

When my hair blows about I look like a dandelion clock.

Boz Sat 07-Sept-24 16:18:49

Apparently, the King loves her soft blonde hair. She may have got the man she wanted but I doubt she ever wanted to be Queen.

MissAdventure Sat 07-Sept-24 16:17:51

grin

I recently had a selfie with my 19yr old GD, after we had been to the hairdressers together. Never again. Talk about Beauty and the Beast.

I agree!

She has got lovely thick hair and that sort of hair can cope with the wind. Whereas my fine locks look horrendous in a breeze, let alone a gale. I think she looks just fine! She is smiling and looks happy, so good for her.

Rekarie Sat 07-Sept-24 16:07:38

Of course it won't bother her. She'll have seen worse.

And our lovely late Queen did smoke. But very rarely and in private. I know this due to the fact a boyfriend from my youth was in the RGJ and on occasion was present at meals.

A cigarette would be placed on a small dish on the table.

Do we believe him? Your choice. But it's a very odd think to lie about!
