When I worked for EMI in the late 60s we used to be given tickets for the whole season. We used to have a ballot for the most popular nights - the first and last nights, the Gilbert and Sullivan night, and the Viennese Waltzes night. Most other nights you could just take your pick and the really heavy classical stuff or any modern music never seemed to be in demand.
