Good morning all from a drenched North Leicestershire.

Yesterday we had the most spectacular thunder storms which seemed to get stuck above our house. The rain was torrential.

We should have been watching one of the DGS play football this morning. That won't happen. I expect that the 'floods will be out'.

Morning from a soggy S Hants, I heard the rain in the early hours. What an interesting day gMattie, known as ‘front loaders’ Ashcombe!
Have a lovely holiday Liberty good timing as it cools down here.
A quiet day yesterday, weeding my veg bed I pulled some decent carrots surprisingly, I thought they’d be tiny, we ate them with dinner.
Children here today and grandchildren for a late lunch of pulled pork (vegetarian pulled duck for Imogen).

Good morning from Durham. Another grey, still day - I can’t remember when it last rained here. It’s not good drying weather, so DD2’s laundry ended up in the dryer, after 6 hours pegged outside.
I’m taking Little Dog home this morning and staying to look after DGS2 so his Mummy can visit a food festival. On my way home, I’ll pop in and see DGS1 who has another wobbly tooth.
Best wishes to all. X

Good morning everyone from a damp and slightly chillier south Manchester. Alexa tells me it’s currently 13°C rising to 19°C with showers forecast later today. A yellow weather warning is in place for tomorrow apparently.

Himself is off mid morning to watch the Boy Wonder ⚽️ match. It’s a home game. Later we are lunching with my stepfather at our favourite Italian restaurant and I will take the shopping that he asked me to get yesterday from our larder. Be good to see him. It’s his 92nd birthday while we are away. I’ve got a card and a bottle of whisky to pass to him. 😁

Hope all the wedding plans are in place for your granddaughter’s wedding tomorrow Pantsglas! I too don’t know of any great-grandparent attending such a family celebration either. Just wow!

Thoughts today are with Yia as her husband goes into hospital for his surgery tomorrow. I hope all goes well dear lady. And if Kalu is reading I sent you a p.m. a few days ago as I was missing from GN when you broke the sorrowful news about your husband.

Good morning all and what did I say yesterday! ‘We dont get much rain here in Essex’. Well we had torrential downpours during the night and it’s still raining now. Only One clap of thunder, though!

Happy holiday Liberty and I hope to see you in October, before the cafe closes for the winter or of course, is sold.,😢.

Yesterday was very warm and sunny and I didn’t do much at all . The showing of the film ‘Lee’ was for 5 o’clock so I didn’t book. I don’t want to come home on the train in the dark .Southend isn’t the best of places for travel at night, especially as West Ham lost their match. 😬.

Today Dd and little DGD will come for lunch and we’ll make bracelets with her kit she received for her birthday. I’m sure she’ll think up other games/crafts for us to enjoy. We won’t be idle 😉.

I hope all your Sundays are happy ones.🙏

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a damp South Yorkshire. It is set to come down in torrents later just as GS is playing football. I promised him I’d go to this one as it is local to us, but we’ll have to see. He and his parents will be here for lunch afterwards. Yesterday I made a large chicken and mushroom pie and two small fish pies which I am certain will be better than the one I bought, on a whim as I never buy ready meals, from Sainsbury’s last week. I had to call a search party out to find the fish, and it was completely flavourless. They should hang their heads in shame.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 8°C.

The proposed relaxing and restful day yesterday turned out to be otherwise. I went to put clothes away in the wardrobe in the spare room and it broke. Rather than tell DH and get the rolled eyes, because I have too many clothes, I decided to fix it myself.😉
It was actually a positive thing, because I decided to let go of some of my favourite things, which no longer fitted. I had just sorted it, when it collapsed again. 🤬
I wonder why? 😂

Trying on stuff, I realised that colours which suited me in the past, no longer suit me. I was complimenting someone at Mass last night about her outfit and he was surprised and said, she had never worn that colour previously, due to having red hair like me.
I suggested that the fact that our hair is more strawberry blonde, (with white) than red now, may be the reason.

I am still constantly coughing, but I think it has eased a little, thank goodness. It is exhausting and my chest hurts like hell.
I will need all my stamina today, because a visit from Babydoll is expected. She and her parents are off on holiday and need time to get organised.
On hearing of her cousin's visit, Dollie has decided that she too will visit!
The best medicine ever.😍

I wish you all a pleasant Sunday and a gentle day for the poorlies.

Marydoll Sun 22-Sept-24 08:48:19

FGT, I have been texting Kalu, but no response She and her husband were incredibly close and I have decided to give her space and not bother her.
I'm sure she knows we all care.

Good morning from a grey Colchester, where rain is threatening after a warm, dry week.
I have been reading GN and have just seen that I was enquired about on yesterday's GM thread.
I am fine but life has got in the way and I have decided not to post daily on this thread, having done so for many years.
I still post on other threads occasionally and think of you all daily.
Love to all 🦩 x

Good morning from a grey NE.
DS and GD2 didn't come yesterday, GD had a nasty cold and was nor at all well. I received photos of GD's birthday outing from last week, she took her school friends to an Escape room and they succeeded in escaping in the allotted time.
I spent the afternoon and evening binge watching a television series that I recorded months ago whilst doing crosswords.
Today will be much of the same but should be a bit more inventive with my meals.
Have a good day.

Feelingmyage55 Sun 22-Sept-24 09:10:27

Good morning from a very cool Scotland. After a busy day oiling the garden furniture we had fish and chips for tea as I thought I deserved a treat ie not cooking for once. Enjoyed eating outside in the evening sun.
Off to church for harvest Sunday, supporting our local food bank.

aggie Sun 22-Sept-24 09:10:54

Good Morning from a bright Co Armagh, the sun isn’t out but the clouds are thinner with bits of blue and pink
Yesterday was a nothing day ! I wasn’t in the mood for anything, Daughter cajoled me out to help dead head , that was shorter than planned when I managed to cut the end bit of the string of solar lights !! She saw my guilty face and let me go back to my tv programme!
Re discussing bras , I got front fastening ones ! They were too solid and I looked like I had one big bosom!
Mass shortly , I’ve a pocket full of change so candles will be lit

EkwaNimitee Sun 22-Sept-24 09:14:20

Good morning Mick and everyone from bright Carlisle. It hasn't rained here for days and none expected either.
Yesterday I had an early walk through the park for the paper, has to be early as they only stock a very few copies of my desired one. The leaves are just beginning to change colour on the trees, it is definitely autumn now.
Once home, it was coffee and a long phone chat with my sister.
A few minor chores, the potting up of my indoor hyacinths and finishing my book occupied the afternoon. In the evening, I was 'entertained' by watching an episode of the Trump 'heist' after the 2020 elections. Grimly fascinating.

Today will be a quiet one, reading the paper and magazines and maybe getting out to plant more bulbs in the garden, there's a lot to go in still...

Best wishes Pittcity, I hope life will go as you wish and any problems resolved.

And the best possible day everyone.

GrandmaC47 Sun 22-Sept-24 09:25:38

Grey here in the south of Co Durham. So many posts already !
So many clever, industrious people, you put me to shame. I’m a lazy grandma 😂. Happy holidays, Liberty. Mizuna my dgd has hair that colour, so beautiful.
Dinner today is mince courtesy of DD2, part of her meals on wheels for us oldies. Saves me cooking. Told you I was lazy, although I’m going to cycle (to nowhere) while listening to The Archers.
Have as good a day as possible everyone.

GrannySomerset Sun 22-Sept-24 09:33:15

At 9.30 am it is barely daylight so it looks as if the heavy rain, forecast for the last three days, is about to arrive. Very dismal. I need to go to fetch a paper but it’s hardly worth getting soaked for so maybe not. Another day with the books for discussion, I think. The thought of months of darkness is soul destroying, I must say.

Purplepixie Sun 22-Sept-24 09:34:29

Good morning from a very wet and dark East Midlands. It was torrential rain and thunderstorms yesterday afternoon and during the night. Still the same without a thunderstorm up to now. Have the best day that you can.

Taichinan Sun 22-Sept-24 09:36:41

Good morning to you all. It's another cool grey day on the Angus coast, but the sun is expected to break through this afternoon. DD was telling me of the torrential rain and thunderstorms around the Nottingham area. The train she was on coming home from a conference was stopped due to lightening striking a junction box somewhere up ahead. She was meant to be going to a comedy gig with NM and his brother but didn't get home in time. However the concert was abandoned half way through as it was being held in a metal framed tent on top of a hill and a lightening strike was feared. Exciting or what!
Love the tote bag grandmattie.
And I love redheads Mizuna, The red gene is a very dominant one in our family too, and both my sons married into families carrying it as well. Even little Ollie is showing signs that it's not going to skip a generation there.
Have a lovely holiday Liberty.
I wondered if the grey 'coolth' would put people off from coming to our Tai Chi on the Beach session yesterday, but 18 hardy souls made it. There's something so lovely about moving to the sound of the sea with the wind blowing through your hair - and watching the wild swimmers! - with skeins of wild geese passing overhead. And then of course there's steaming cups of coffee and tea with toasted teacakes in the Pavilion afterwards. I can think of worse ways to spend a morning!
I thoroughly enjoyed Strictly in the evening too. I am very deaf and can't hear music but love the colourful spectacle of it all and am
amazed at just how much the celebrities have managed to learn in just two short weeks. For commentary I have subtitles - and they bring their own comedy to the proceedings. Last night I learned that Craig agreed with Surely (aka Shirley) that one of the dancers was peach and toad. It took me a couple of seconds of puzzlement before I realised the poor chap was pigeon-toed!
I'm not sure what today holds but it will be quiet and pleasant and - if the sun really does put in an appearance - may well involve basking in its warmth while reading a book 😉
Have a good day everyone.

hollysteers Sun 22-Sept-24 09:55:04

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
The stricken back is easing somewhat. I’ve thrown everything at it, hot pads, massage machine, Voltarol, back support, painkillers and back exercises. It has been so bad I have cancelled all my usual doings. Thank heavens for books etc.

DD drove up from the south late afternoon and did an immediate turnaround to go to her friend’s 50th birthday party. I don’t know where she finds the energy, it’s certainly not from me!

I cooked a pork casserole in left over red wine (I don’t drink these days) and straining it off, knocked it over🙄. It now has ordinary gravy, but at least it was cooked in the wine.

My little cat has started using its small round cosy bed. I’ve had it for ages and she would have nothing to do with it.
Lovely bag GM, enjoy your family time Mizuna, hope you have more good days Mick and happy holidays Liberty🌺

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 22-Sept-24 11:20:44

Chronic pain must be so debilitating hollysteers. I hope your back eases up soon.

grandMattie

Good morning from a dry Bristol. We had just a few heavy showers rather than the predicted wall-to-wall rain. It was weird as it was warm and cloudless in between.
I have no reaction to my RSV vaccination (yet!) and carried on with my busy day.
As I sat down for a quick cup of tea in church after doing my church cleaning stint, a young woman I hadn’t met came in. Ad we were the only two there, I started to talk to her. She is an engineer specialising in aeronautics. Somehow, the conversation turned hilarious, discussing bras, how we put them on, why they don’t do upon the front. It was extremely entertaining! 😂
I went home to wait for the air fryer, did some sewing (photos attached) and tried to rest a bit before rushing off for an early evening lecture on the sewn/appliqué panel exhibition.
The air fryer did arrive but I haven’t had time to play. Today?
Have a good day y’all, hope you’re not washed out.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Just to say, I had my RSV vaccination and was told by the nurse that it was extremely rare to have any adverse reaction apart from discomfort where the needle went in. That was days ago and I haven’t had any problems🤞. Hope it’s the same for you.
