Welcome!

Thank you for all your support, especially of late. I greatly appreciate your patience. You are truly the best.

Buffet is open. For those who enjoy a glass of bubbly, there is plenty in the chill cabinet.

Enjoy!

I must away for a wee while. I shall catch up later. flowers

Hoping for good news tomorrow FGT

Beechnut Sun 17-Nov-24 18:52:00

I will be thinking of you and🤞all will be well for tomorrow’s result FGT.

Jaxjacky Sun 17-Nov-24 18:51:45

I hope you repeated your sleep last night corner.
A good job done brook we did our overflow one a few weeks, then had fun replenishing it.
Fin’s team won 4-1, they’re joint top of the league for now, MrJ enjoyed running up the line while I was out at the shops - well, one shop really, I’m not a naturally shopper unless online.
The ham hock in the slow cooker won’t be ready tonight, so it’s a freezer dive later, probably oven f&c.
FGT the whole kitchen will be holding its breath tomorrow for you both 🤞xx
A x too for the quiet corner, and those absent through illness or events.

Grandmabatty Sun 17-Nov-24 18:49:15

Fingers crossed FGT

‘Evening All’.

We’re not long home from a later Sunday lunch which was delicious. We also booked in at the pub for our favourite table for NYD. Very organised! I’ve got a mug of tea. Himself is watching an action film in the main room. I’m cosy sitting on our bed about to watch Ep.3 of ‘The Mirror and the Light’ which I’m thoroughly enjoying. Helps take my mind off tomorrow afternoon’s Christie Hospital appointment when we will be given the results of the CT scan done 3 weeks ago. I admit to feeling apprehensive this evening.

brook2704 Sun 17-Nov-24 16:57:03

Not much snow grandmabatty just a bit this morning that didn’t settle - it’s cold though 🥶 Chicken and leek pie - yum!

I’ll have to nip to Aldi tomorrow GG13 but unfortunately we don’t get the 25% discount off wine up here 😕 If we lived nearer to the borders I’d definitely go and get some

Grandmabatty Sun 17-Nov-24 16:17:45

Good evening Kitcheners. Ladyleftfieldlover I'm so glad your difficult friend didn't embarrass you. Cornergran did you manage to get a bike? Brook well done on cleaning out the freezer. It's a job I hate too. Did you have any snow?
Today I nipped to Tesco to buy wrapping paper and bought Christmas cards, potatoes, cress growing kit and a winter top! I've wrapped dgs2's birthday presents and visited mum who was fairly chatty. I'm about to make a chicken and leek pie for dinner. My best wishes to you all, particularly The Soops

GrannyGravy13 Sun 17-Nov-24 15:29:12

I have been out shopping, something I haven’t done on a Sunday for many many years 🙀

Halfords to purchase a bike for The Imps Christmas gift, Sainsbury’s as they have 25% of selected wines and we appear to be hosting 19-21 family members on Boxing Day. Then a quick dash into Aldi as they have their Christmas frozen fish/shell fish goodies in store, if you don’t get them when they first come out you are likely to miss out.

🍤🍾🍷🥂🦞

brook2704 Sun 17-Nov-24 15:17:42

Good afternoon kitchen pals, it’s a cold day here in Inverness, some sleet and snow and sunshine too
We went out just for a little walk, but mostly I’ve been busy tidying up everywhere and sorting out a big box of things for the charity shop. I also cleaned and defrosted the freezer which is a job I hate, ready for some Christmas food which I’ll get over the next couple of weeks
Hope you’re enjoying quality time with your DS corner, it’s nice to get them on their own isn’t it!
Hoping everyone is doing ok, hugs to those in the quiet corner x

Nannytopsy Sun 17-Nov-24 05:32:57

soop fingers firmly crossed for this surgeon being able to help.

cornergran Sat 16-Nov-24 23:07:53

Hello everyone. A decent sleep for me last night, five hours in one go. Hooray. No reason not to do the same tonight 🤞. If I struggle I’ll try your technique nannyt, thank you for the suggestion.

A very good day. We visited a garden centre with a seriously huge and very lovely Christmas display. Not a thing came home with us, I am very proud of myself grin. Wonderful to catch up with news from one part of the family. Work has made it so difficult for us to spend a little time together, I relished just being in the same room.

Tomorrow we’ll spend time with our other son, just him as his daughters are with their Mum. Much as we love to see them all it’s a treat to have time just chatting in a way we don’t with teenagers about. Such a good weekend for us.

That’s was quite a drive soop. No way could I do that in one day, many congratulations to *Mr Soop*for the achievement. I do hope there’s a positive outcome for you.

Frost SueD? Goodness. No sign here thankfully. It’s been drizzly rain. Having said that I think I’d rather clear skies and frost!

My fleece leggings are waiting, always under trousers in the winter. Fortunately not needed yet they may come oit of their summer home if the forecast for temperatures next week is accurate. In fact they may come out anyway, so comfortable to wear and much appreciated by my always cold legs.

Time to settle. Wishing you all a peaceful night.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 16-Nov-24 22:43:49

Hello kitchen people. I am tucked up in bed and about to get on with my book about the Plantagenets.

I met my difficult friend for lunch and she was on her best behaviour. She has a few family problems and has mellowed a bit.

OH and I had a proper television watching evening. The first episode of the Mirror and the Light and two more episodes of the Jackal.

Sleep 💤 tight.

SueDonim Sat 16-Nov-24 21:51:56

I’m so sorry about your sister, Gillgran. It’s quite a blow to lose a sibling.
I hope you have a lovely time with family, Cornergran.
grin at your GDG Nannytopsy!
Hello dustyangel.
Those handsome boys, LLFL 😻😻
Hope the ‘rehab’ is going well, Redcar.
Nothing keeps Mr Soop down, does it Soop? Good man! I hope the latest surgeon can offer a solution. 🤞
The roads here were covered in fine frost by 5:30 this evening, Brook and my car shimmied round a couple of corners despite it being 4WD!
FGT I hope you can put your worries away in a box for now. That’s what I’m trying to do. flowers
I think I need to look out my fleece leggings too, Jax!

I have had a little time to myself today as Dh and Ds2 went on a boys outing to the cinema. They saw Gladiator 2. Preposterous and enjoyable was the verdict! I took the opportunity to potter around and then do a bit in the garden. The wheelie bin is full of finished summer plants and trimmings from cutting back. I did a couple of pots of bulbs which has made the tiniest dent in my two tonnes of compost. grin There are more bulbs to plant but that’s for another day.

Sleep tight everyone. Xx

Jaxjacky Sat 16-Nov-24 21:08:53

How very annoying Grannmarie, good you enjoyed it though.
Oh, we’ll all be crossing everything for you soop what a man your Mr is, top dollar.
My Mr has been asked to help officiate at Fin’s football match tomorrow, he jumped at the opportunity.
He’ll need fleece lined leggings as winter goes on brook!
I’ll be off getting some sage from a kind local person on FB, my young plant hasn’t enough, it’s for 🎄 stuffing, to make and freeze. I need to defrost the sausagemeat, so not a tomorrow job.
I do hope corner had some sleep.
👋 to the quiet corner 🌹

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 16-Nov-24 20:54:32

‘Evening All”.

We’ve enjoyed another good day together. I’m grateful because I know I’m fortunate in many ways. In Málaga Spanish friends gave hugs to Himself and told him “you’re well, for now”. I try not to worry.

Oh let’s hope it’s 3rd time lucky for you soops eh? You’ve been such a patient patient. 🤞

Grannmarie Sat 16-Nov-24 20:27:52

Aww, I've just lost my long post about the show on Thursday and my birthday celebrations with family today...☹️

Suffice to say, we thoroughly enjoyed the show, very entertaining, and today I had a great afternoon being spoiled by all the family for my upcoming birthday on Monday. It was great to see them all, plans were made for Christmas, the Wee Boy enjoyed playing with his big cousins and the three grandchildren helped me to blow out the candles on my cake. I'm very thankful. 🙏💕

Good to hear from you, Dusty, 👋 glad all is well with you and yours.
Thanks for your update, Soop, I hope this appointment and upcoming scan lead to treatment that improves your situation. What a journey, well done MrSoop you are an absolute star! 🌟

Wishing everyone a peaceful Saturday evening and a good night's sleep. TOYA.

brook2704 Sat 16-Nov-24 16:32:55

So lovely to hear from you soop and hoping that surgeon number 3 can do something to help. That’s a long days driving for Mr Soop, well done to him and for negotiating the busy hospital parking too
It’s turned really cold here today, snow is in the forecast Jax and I’ve bought an extra couple of pairs of fleece lined leggings that I’ll wear almost everyday from now on. We’re just home after a short riverside walk, part way along we stopped at a lovely hotel overlooking the River Ness with a couple of frothy cappuccinos and watched the world go by
Thank you for breakfast this morning nannytopsy
Hope you’re feeling a bit better soon GG13 and hoping you got some sleep last night corner
Take care all especially those sitting in the quiet corner ❤️

I am sorry to hear the news of your dear sister's death, gillgran. flowers

A warm welcome to Georgesgran.

MrSoop sends a virtual hug to all his ladies.

Yesterday he motored an almost 250 mile round trip to take me to my hospital appointment in Paisley. The surgeon (number three) to assess my parastomal hernia, was very attentive. He is arranging a scan in Oban in order to be able to establish whether or not he may be able to rectify "the thing". Parking at the vast hospital was a nightmare. However, we continue to count our blessings. We are so lucky to have the NHS.

I do apologise for not being able to keep abreast of all the happenings in our kitchen. I do not have a laptop. The computer has not been on my list of catch-ups recently. I know for certain that you are all kind, caring and supportive Granspals. Bless you all.

Nannytopsy Sat 16-Nov-24 11:01:12

Morning all! DH has put bacon, sausages and fried eggs out for you all. Sadly we have run out of beans and tomatoes but feel free to add your own. Or wait until we return from Tesco! It’s a big shop today …
Corner I have recently found a new method of falling asleep. Once comfortable and all of your body is relaxed, try to think of as many things as you can beginning with the same letter. I started at A and last night I tried J but only thought of a few before I had nodded off.
Hope everyone has a good day and some sunshine. Suffolk is cloudy again

cornergran Sat 16-Nov-24 00:12:47

Pottering morning and a TaiChi afternoon sums up my day. A charity shop was pleased to accept some unwanted Christmas decorations whuch made my day.

You made me smile jax. What makes you think there’s not a more than grumpy soul here when sleep has been elusive? I’m not doing well this week, no rhyme nor reason, just how it is.

Lovely to see a post from you dustyangel , a lot in your life. Good news redcar but please do go carefully.

Hope Mr and Mrs Soop are doing OK.

I’m off to try for some sleep. We’re seeing family this weekend, one lot Saturday and the other on Sunday, I’m very excited but you know it’s feast or famine here. I’ll need some energy and definitely can’t be grumpy grin.

Goodnight everyone. Rest well.

brook2704 Fri 15-Nov-24 23:32:04

A quick late visit to the kitchen before turning off the light and snuggling down
So sorry to hear about your sister gillgran , sending my condolences 💐
Lovely to hear from you dustyangel, hope blossoming is doing ok too ❤️
It’s been a really busy week, so I’m pleased the weekend has arrived so I can rest a bit without feeling rushed
Pleased to hear you’re home safely FGT
Sounds like good progress redcar, well done
Sending ❤️ to those in the quiet corner, take care all x

Redcar Fri 15-Nov-24 22:00:44

I’m late this evening, tucked up in bed, browsing the internet like fgt and her man! Nothing much happening in my life at the moment. This afternoon one of my sons in law took me back to the hospital to have a dressing changed on my hip replacement and an ordinary dressing put on. The other one was some fancy thing designed to dry the wound faster. But was quite uncomfortable.
Other than that, I’ve been walking along the hall several times a day. I must venture outside soon - maybe at the weekend. I would attempt to visit DD2 but littlest has yet another bug of some sort, which I don’t want to catch.
Night night everyone, I hope those with illness or worries manage to have a good sleep tonight.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 15-Nov-24 21:57:09

Good to hear from you dustyangel

Condolences gillgran

FGT2 we have just got back from our local Indian restaurant, prawn dhansak for me, tandoori mixed grill for him.

Nightie night folks 🙋‍♀️

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 15-Nov-24 21:35:21

Posted too soon.

Sincere condolences to you gillgran 💐
A sibling is special. They are the only ones who know the ‘full past’.

dustyangel I’m glad to hear all’s well over in Portugal. Busy is acceptable. 😁 especially with family. Glad you enjoyed the airport long pic. x
