Welcome!

Thank you for all your support, especially of late. I greatly appreciate your patience. You are truly the best.

Buffet is open. For those who enjoy a glass of bubbly, there is plenty in the chill cabinet.

Enjoy!

I must away for a wee while. I shall catch up later. flowers

I occasionally order food from Hello Fresh, part of the Amazon tribe and I was not impressed having to produce ID because I had ordered wine. Surely the driver could use his common sense but apparently not so they have lost a customer. I do not look my age, 81 but that is ridiculous.

Storms have passed me by but some people a couple of miles away woke up the other day to see their cars floating away.

I have been able to hang clothes out they have not dried fully but it was a helping hand.

soop that is so frustrating Mr Soop having to wait so long. I keep my fingers crossed you will hear this week.

Late to the kitchen I just wanted to add my love to all who might have various problems and issues to deal with.
I too might pop into the quiet corner now and again cos at present to paraphrase the late, great John Lennon
‘ life is what happens when your busy making other plans’…is relevant right now-not us directly but a close family member and it’s impacting on us, and not in a positive way!
Que sera, sera, as my dear Mum would have said. GNGB all xx

Morning! I have just popped out of the quiet corner to wish everyone with worries for family members or themselves, some positive answers and resolution to their worries.

Nannytopsy Wed 23-Oct-24 08:37:49

I’m echoing Kitty’s message.
It’s a uniform grey sky here this morning and very still - let’s hope it perks up later. It’s no good for drying washing and there’s a lot to do.
I have steroid injections in both hips this afternoon to help the tendinitis. (“We don’t call it bursitis any more” I was told!)
Have a good day

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 23-Oct-24 20:08:45

Hello kitchen people. It’s quiet in here today,

I’ve had a busy-ish day. I finally finished my ironing and then made a batch of our favourite muffins - ginger and rum. They are very yummy. OH spent a large part of the day working on woodpecker guards for his beehives. While he did that I watched the last part of a course on The History of Railway Stations.

OH is now upstairs watching football and I’m waiting to watch the Portrait of the Year programme. I’ll wait until 8.20 pm so I can fast forward the adverts.

I hope we’ve all had the best day possible. There are too many kitchen people in the sick bay at the moment or feeling low. I’m thinking of you all. 🌹

Jaxjacky Wed 23-Oct-24 20:18:59

Has the kitchen been evacuated for some reason} 🙂
I do hope those injections have helped Nannytopsy 👍
A good week thus far, my daughter heard she’s got a job she went for and my son’s fiancée has had a promotion, proud of them both.
Had my rather unruly locks trimmed this morning, I can now see, always good. Washing done and dried, not outside sadly, the sun doesn’t have the strength, but it had an hour of fresh air.
Otherwise a rather slothful afternoon, perusing holiday options in the uk for the next 12 months.
I do hope the quiet corner is proving restful and those in difficult times have had a gentle day.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 23-Oct-24 20:23:13

‘Evening All’.

We’ve enjoyed a good day and have just eaten huge bowls of chilli made by Himself’s fair hand. Delicious.

We visited a friend and his wife for an hour this afternoon. I was shocked by his appearance after a nine week stay in hospital. He looked gaunt. My heart went out to him and his wife very much. We fervently hope to see him looking more robust when we next call, after our holiday. Life can unexpectedly throw a curveball can’t it?

brook2704 Wed 23-Oct-24 20:50:47

That’s great news Jax for your daughter and your sons fiancée - well done to them both 👏
I’m late to the kitchen as we’ve DGS here, he’s feeling a bit sorry for himself as he’s under the weather but still wanted to come for a sleepover. Hopefully he’ll pick up a bit tomorrow. We’ll be dropping him home about lunchtime and swapping him for DGD who’s staying tomorrow night!
Sending ❤️ to all in the quiet corner x

Nannytopsy Wed 23-Oct-24 20:53:59

Well done to the family Jax! It’s always a relief, isn’t it? The painkiller part of the injections made a big difference - fingers crossed that the steroid part works when it wears off. 🤞
Glad you enjoyed your chilli FGT. We had a carb free curry, with a cauliflower curry instead of rice. One stone down and another to go (at least …)

Doodle Wed 23-Oct-24 20:58:52

Jax good news about your DDs new job and your sons fiancés promotion. Well done them.
I’m having a quiet sit in the corner. Had a few reasonable days but the glums have come over me tonight.
Take care all

Jaxjacky Wed 23-Oct-24 21:04:26

Oh Doodle I wish I could send immediate solace ❤️

cornergran Wed 23-Oct-24 21:44:41

soop Wed 23-Oct-24 23:13:51

I am about to flop into my bed with my new Rebus who-done-it. Bliss!

Before I do, I wish to congratulate our Granspals with cause for celebration. I also wish (like Jax) to empathise with those of you seeking solace.

This morning the Oban Hospital phoned. Next Wednesday's appointment for a CT scan confirmed. Whatever the result, Mr Soop and I will deal with matters. We are a good team.

We'll then motor on to Paisley in Glasgow, stay the night in the Premier Inn and keep the second appointment for my breast screening the following day. As always we will treat ourselves to fish, chips and mushy peas. Delicious simple pleasures.

I shall join you lovely lot in our kitchen at sometime tomorrow.

A quick pop in during a break in work. It's a lovely project in lots of ways but the best bit is that the couples have to hug...it was a nightmare to recruit as we had to check that they were happy to be hugged. ( They did know the other person 😂😂😂). It has been so uplifting to see their reactions when asked to hug their partner. We've had couple couples...same sex couples, friendship couples and parent/ older child couples so far and it's been wonderful to witness genuine affection. Just what I needed to cheer me up and certainly what the world needs more of....so in the spirit of sharing...I'm sending you all a hug...to make you happy, ease your pain, lift your spirit or whatever you need it for today. 🤗.

Redcar Thu 24-Oct-24 16:18:13

Hello everyone, it’s very quiet in the kitchen today! It’s lovely and sunny here today and quite mild, so I’ve been out in the garden pottering about. I cut back the fuchsia which was threatening to take over the garden and moved a few pots around so they get some sunshine when they can. Part of the garden will be in shade for most of the day now, until spring, and it’s hard to get anything to grow there at all.
I went for my usual walk this morning, met some neighbours and was talking for about half an hour. It was really good to see them and catch up with their lives - it really cheered me up.
Thank you for the hug neine, I do like a hug!
I hope your trip to Oban and Glasgow next week go well soop. A night in a Premier Inn and fish and chips sound just the ticket, after hospital visits!
doodle I hope you are feeling a little less sad, life can be so hard sometimes.
Tomorrow a man is coming to clear the gutters at the back of the house, that’ll be my excitement for the day!
Have a peaceful evening everyone.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 24-Oct-24 16:39:25

An early ‘Evening All’.

I’ve been with the Boy Wonder, sorted his lunch (pizza from the larder #lazygran!) and saw these specimens on the side ready for Hallow’een.

Thursday = date night. We fancy a curry - after a drink each in the pub round the corner first. I think there’s a G&T in there with my name on it. 😁

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 24-Oct-24 21:27:57

Hello kitchen people. Just a quick visit. I’ve been under the weather all day so I’ve snuggled up on the sofa and read Emma. I’m now in bed snuggled up with the cats.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 24-Oct-24 21:37:37

Hope a good night’s sleep has you feeling better in the morning LLFL. 🤞

Grannmarie Thu 24-Oct-24 22:03:59

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. 🥰 Two appointments Soop, I'm glad that you're turning them into outings with comfy B and B, and fish and chips ! Hoping and praying that MrSoop, MrSueD and all awaiting appointments get word soon.

Doodle, thinking of you, 💐🙏 and all with worries, illness or sorrow.

Neine thank you for your hug, much needed and appreciated.

Thank you, Jaxjacky, we're fine after our jags, just a bit stressed cos my car broke down on my way to Rainbows. To cut a long story short, the AA towed it to my local garage, where it remains, drive shaft snapped...hoping to be reunited on Monday. 🚗
Congratulations on your family news!

Ladyleftfieldlover, hope you feel better soon.

Nannytopsy, hope your injections work well for you. Congratulations on your weight loss!

Hello 👋 Kitty, mamaa, cornergran , Charleygirl and all in the quiet corner!

FGT, I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Poor man, I hope he is pain free and comfortable. I'm sure he appreciated your visit.

Redcar, you are working hard in your garden! I'm very much behind this autumn. My bulbs are in the kitchen and the heathers and winter pansies are still in a sheltered spot on the patio, I must get them planted soon. The October school holiday week was always my time for winter bedding, in the garden and on the beds! I'm late, I'm late....

brook, I hope your DGS feels better soon and your DGD enjoys her sleepover tonight.

The Wee Boy had his school Halloween disco this evening. He was a very exited and scary looking Wolverine. Apparently Hugh Jackman plays the character in the Marvel movies... very versatile!

Wishing everyone a peaceful Thursday evening and a good night's sleep.
TOYA, NNGB.

Good Evening Lovely Ladies……just popping in to see how everyone is.

Lovely to hear everyone’s news and goings on……

I’ve had my shingles jab yesterday and have felt really under the weather today with a thumping headache and feeling very weary. Missing my DH to look after me……another first 😢.

I’m hoping to go away next week with my son and family to Dorset, not sure I want to go, just another first to deal with…..

Sending my love and strength to those of you who are struggling with what life is throwing at you. Life is a roller coaster. Good luck to those who have hospital appointments to deal with too.

Take care, much love ❤️💐

brook2704 Thu 24-Oct-24 22:07:33

Hoping you’re feeling much better soon llfl, a good idea to rest
Thank you for the hug neine I’m sure it’s much appreciated by us all in the kitchen
We’ve got DGD here, she’s been fast asleep since about 8pm after an enjoyable evening. She asked for chicken pasta bake for dinner and wanted to make it all by herself so we let her get on with it, just with a little supervision
I’m hoping to get back out in the garden again soon redcar, it’ll probably be when the schools go back here next week and I’ve a bit more time - bet you it’s raining then though!
Hi 👋 to those not posting but just reading, thinking of you and sending ❤️

Nannytopsy Thu 24-Oct-24 22:10:46

I hope it was a good curry FGT! The injections seem to have done the trick! They worked last time and lasted for a good long time.
A lovely day here too - 3 lots of washing (mostly) dried and nearly all of it ironed. #smug gran. Also finished the WI risk assessments 🍾🥂
Now to finish the Roman blind and get someone to fit it …
Good luck next week soop - enjoy your fish and chips 🐟🍟
Sleep tight everyone.

brook2704 Thu 24-Oct-24 22:17:12

Crossed posts nannyG4 I hope you’re soon recovered after your shingles jab and can get away next week for a short break with your son and family. So difficult though, sending ❤️

Grannmarie car troubles always stress me out, hope you’re ok and the car is sorted soon without a mammoth bill!

Grannmarie Thu 24-Oct-24 23:12:22

Thank you, brook. It'll be at least £500, not long after its service, MOT, two new tyres, road tax, insurance and breakdown cover... so glad I renewed the breakdown cover!

Hello 👋, NannyG4, I hope you feel a bit better tomorrow. I know the firsts are hard, but I think your family trip to Dorset will do you good. Thinking of you.

soop Thu 24-Oct-24 23:27:45

Yet again, Grannmarie has miraculously managed to include every one of our merry band of Kitcheners. She has also sent blessings to those who are weary, concerned and in need of support. Thank you, Grannmarie on behalf of us all.

Another appointment (for me), not dear Mr Soop came today.
