Welcome!

Thank you for all your support, especially of late. I greatly appreciate your patience. You are truly the best.

Buffet is open. For those who enjoy a glass of bubbly, there is plenty in the chill cabinet.

Enjoy!

I must away for a wee while. I shall catch up later. flowers

Sorry to have been AWOL again, I’m just getting through the days really. Anyway, hello Carillion I don’t think we’ve met but good luck on your house move.
I hope your dh’s health is improving, Brook. It’s scary how fast cellulitis can come on. My strong-as-an-ox son in law developed it on his ear, of all places, two or three New Years back. He found himself in hospital (first time ever except being born) before he could turn round.
Hope your minds will be set at ease soon, FGT. Xx
Where is that picture of the falls, Jax? It looks amazing.
You’ve an arduous few days ahead of you, Soop, I hope it goes as well as possible for you both.

It’s been busy as usual here, what with one thing and another. Thankfully my painful shoulder is a lot better now, I did not enjoy being hors de combat. We’ve looked after the little ones - GS was playing in our house last week with a wooden garage and Matchbox cars when he looked up at me and said emphatically, ‘I like it here!’ ❤️❤️❤️ Tomorrow it’s the GD’s turn, this wretched school strike is causing havoc for poor parents, who’ve all been scratching about for childcare cover.

Dh at last has a date for a biopsy, which is scheduled for next week and he’ll be in for a few days. It can only be done in Edinburgh which is a bit of a trek, so I’ll have to decide whether to stay somewhere or come home overnight. That’s nine weeks he’s been waiting and means the NHS will have missed the treatment target before the biopsy even takes place. angry

I got out garden today. My shoulder had prevented me over thr last month and then rain but finally, it was warm and just about dry enough to venture out. I disposed of tomato plants, a pumpkin plant I grew just for the greenery, rhubarb leaves and annuals that had finished. There’s still lots in bloom, which is nice. The trugs now have beetroot plug plants and salad leaves in them - I’ve no idea what I’m doing but it’s fun seeing what happens. grin I also weeded between the slabs so that looks tidier. I need to get some sand to brush into the cracks.

We also went to the dump again yesterday. I swear someone is putting their rubbish into our garage! Some of it is boxes from where we had to decant house contents after our flood. I was glad to see the back of those. I also found a box of books that belong to dd2 so she can take that away with her.

I think the weather is due to stay good for a day or two so we’ll be making the most of that. I hope others also have a bit of autumn sunshine to cheer our days before winter!

TOYA. Xxx

Grannmarie Tue 29-Oct-24 21:23:20

Good evening, Soop and all you lovely Kitchen people!🥰 I'm so glad that MrSoop's appointment has finally arrived, and it dovetails in with yours, Soop. You have planned your expedition with military precision ( just hope you don't have to use the Old Military Road!🤣) Hoping and praying for the best possible outcomes for both of you. 💕🙏

I hope Mr brook and Mr Nannytopsy feel some improvement in their legs soon, glad your hip injection helped Nannytopsy!

Wonderful to hear that you and Himself are off to your happy place again FGT, it will do you both a power of good. 🇪🇸

Thank you for your kind wishes about my car situation, we are happily reunited!🚗❤️
This afternoon, I took my sister in law to the local hospital to visit her ( and DH'S) Auntie, who had a bad fall at home recently. She is quite frail now, but sharp as a tack and in great spirits. This is the lady who went up in the sea plane on Loch Lomond for her 88th birthday!

I hope Grandmabatty's Mum is doing OK. Neine, GB was in touch with the Glesca Grans recently, she's doing fine.

I made a big pot of savoury mince, some for the freezer, good to stock up on home made comfort meals as the nights draw in.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Tuesday evening and a good night's sleep. TOYA.

Grannmarie Tue 29-Oct-24 21:27:54

Crossed posts, SueD, glad to hear that your DH has an appointment now, what a terrible wait for a biopsy. Glad you're getting out in the garden, good for your spirits. Thinking of you both.

Jaxjacky Tue 29-Oct-24 21:44:55

Not good enough SueD for your husband, in fact dreadful. I’m glad you got outside, it does the soul good to pootle in the garden, the waterfalls are in Brecon, they enjoyed, all home now and early to bed!
We’ve just had my son, his fiancée and her daughter here for a roast, her new job is managing our local!
Long story, but it’s in her blood, long hours for them both at the moment as my son works shifts, they appreciated the food. Good to see them and have a proper chat rather than phone calls or brief snatches.
I’m very pleased to hear Grandmabatty is well, I miss her posts, thank you Grannmarie.

GrandmaC47 Tue 29-Oct-24 21:48:17

Wishing the Soops well.

Ali23 Tue 29-Oct-24 22:12:30

Thinking of the Soops, with fingers crossed that all goes well 🤞

Redcar Tue 29-Oct-24 22:25:59

I’m sitting up in bed reading all your posts. mr & Mrs soop I hope all your hospital visits go well, with satisfactory outcomes for you both. Useful for you to be able to use a Premier Inn as a base to save too much travelling.
fgt enjoy your break in your happy place. suedonim I’m pleased your shoulder problem has improved and that you’re able to resume gardening and childcare duties. Gentle hugs to those in the quiet corner.
carillion I hope your move goes well, there’s always a lot of admin to do isn’t there.
I finally went to the garden centre today and got houseplant compost, and actually repotted two plants that were threatening to escape their pots and take over the living room!
Decided that some shrubs in the garden need to be cut back and I may try to do that in the next day or two. I need to take some Halloween chocolates to DD2 for her girls, she forgot them when I saw her yesterday, so will do that in the morning.
Night night everyone, thinking of those with worries of any kind.

Lins872 Tue 29-Oct-24 22:55:13

Sending best wishes to the Soops . What troublesome health times you are having . Also best wishes to you all no matter how large or small your problems are. I love reading about your lives and how you get on and solve these problems. That’s life !

brook2704 Tue 29-Oct-24 23:11:25

Thanks for your update SueD it’s good to know that your DH has a date for his biopsy now and I hope you can get some reasonable accommodation somewhere close by to save you travelling a lot - hoping all goes well for him
Thank you all for your kind messages about DHs cellulitis, he’s feeling a bit better today so I think he’s on the mend but his leg is still red and painful. I looked it up and apparently it can take quite a while to clear so we’re still early days yet
You sound busy redcar with lots going on, I hope your DGDs enjoy the Halloween treats
I’m sure your local will be in safe hands now Jax good luck to your future Dil in her new job
I remember you telling us about that adventurous lady grannmarie I hope she is doing ok
Hi carillion hoping for steady progress on the move without any big bumps in the road

Nannytopsy Wed 30-Oct-24 08:00:26

Morning! I’m glad you got out in the garden SueD but your DH has had to wait far too long. Thinking of the soops. What a journey!
We got all the shopping done and bought a new sofa! We have short legs and dodgy knees, so we find most sofas are too big and low to be comfortable. We had looked at loads and were thinking we would have to compromise and put one up on blocks. We turned a corner and there was a very standard sort of sofa, in just our size, reduced! It’s the one from the showroom and can be delivered on Monday. Result !
I hope you all have a good day - I must finish my Roman blind, which is taking over the dining room. There are so many jobs to do.

GrannySomerset Wed 30-Oct-24 08:22:49

How marvellous, Nsnnytopsy, not often that things work out so well. Hope you have years of comfortable sitting on a sofa which is the right size. The one in the sitting room was chosen over forty years ago by DH and DD who both had a 34 inch inside leg measurement so that I need extra cushions when sitting on it. It has been reupholstered at least twice and is still in excellent nick so probably a worthwhile investment.

brook2704 Wed 30-Oct-24 12:22:09

Well done with the new sofa nannytopsy, we’re also in the midst of buying a new one just now so I know how difficult it can be. Yours was definitely a great investment GrannySomerset! 👍
I’m just back from volunteering so I’m going to get a quick lunch and then go out in the garden
Grandmabattys delicious lentil soup is in the slow cooker 😀
Hope everyone in the quiet corner is doing ok today x

Yiayia4 Wed 30-Oct-24 16:27:19

We have also been shopping. Not that exciting DH has lost a lot of weight so he needed some new jeans. We are going away this weekend for a few days.DH can’t fly yet or go to far, so we’ve booked a really nice hotel in the Isle of Wight. Its about an hour to Portsmouth from here then on the ferry so just right. Its my birthday and our anniversary next week and I’m just happy to be able to celebrate it.

That’s good your D.H has a date now SueD the wait can be never ending.
Glad your DH is improving Brooke.
Come back Grandmabatty we miss you.

NannyG4 Wed 30-Oct-24 17:16:46

Good Afternoon Lovely Ladies. It seems an age since I posted to see how you ALL are, I’m sorry I’m bit behind with everyone’s news but really wish everyone my best wishes for hospital appointments, well deserved holidays and strength for what life is throwing at you ALL……..

I’m in Dorset at the moment with my son and family, it’s a lovely break but I do feel sad that my DH isn’t with me to share. Back to Kent tomorrow. On Friday evening I’m going, with my daughter, to a talk with Francis Tophill (Gardener’s World), looking forward to that very much.
It’s lovely to hear about everyone’s comings and goings, some of you sound so busy……
Please take good care and I look forward to hearing more of your news.
With love to you all……❤️❤️

GrannyGravy13 Wed 30-Oct-24 17:47:42

Hello dear friends, I have been unable to post for a while but have been trying to keep up with all the kitchen comings and goings.

I hope the soops appointments go well, and the journey is not to arduous.

Grandmabatty I also miss your posts, and your lovely GS’s.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 30-Oct-24 18:18:31

‘Evening All’.

Hi my pen pal, seeing you posting again has just placed the icing on my cake this evening! 😁

We’ve just shared a bag of chips (with salt & vinegar) from the excellent chippy downstairs at the back of the development. Sometimes a little of what you fancy does you good doesn’t it. We will nibble at something else later doubtless.

Himself has been glued to the Budget news this afternoon. Well, that and his engrossing novel on his Kindle!

I’m already looking forward to sliding between the sheets tonight - we’ve had three anxious days on the trot! Málaga tomorrow here we come and apparently the sun is shining mightily there. Excellent timing. Just what the doctor ordered!

Jaxjacky Wed 30-Oct-24 18:37:26

Hi all, I’m hope you’re enjoying some of your break NannyG4 although it’s tinged with sadness.
I’ll wave Yia we’re just a few miles inland and opposite the IoW, have a smashing few deserved days away.
My 34” legs would be fine Nannytopsy and * GrannySomerset* 🤣🤣.
Dentist today, just a check up, but I still don’t like it at all, a quick in and out and a small dent in the bank account.
I’m off in a minute to join the WI, I went last month and they seem a cheery group.
*GrannyGravy I hope all is well and it’s just busyness keeping you occupied.
Cellulitis is a bugger brook and I think (don’t take my word) once you’ve had it, you need to keep alert for any return - may Mrb recover swiftly, with no hanging about.

brook2704 Wed 30-Oct-24 18:54:52

Thank you jax and Yia, DH is gradually getting better and we’ll definitely keep an eye on things from now on
So good to hear you’re getting away for a few days Yia, enjoy your holiday together

I’ve enjoyed a couple of hours in the garden this afternoon, it’s felt quite mild in the sunshine the fresh air did me good - well I fell asleep on the sofa for an hour earlier 🤣

Hoping you’re enjoyed your time away as much as you can nannyG4 safe journey tomorrow, sending ❤️
Well done with the dentist *Jax👍
