A new sofa, Topsy! My dd is also having a new one delivered this week. She and her fiancé ordered a new sofa. The delivery never arrived and on following up, M&S said they had lost it!! It’s a pretty large thing to lose, don’t you think?

We’ve had two glorious days as well, Brook. The temp in the house went up to 27.8 yesterday, with the sunshine flooding in. 🥵

Today was mainly childcare with GD for us, on yet another school strike day. She was in a grumpy mood, I couldn’t fathom out why. It transpired that a wobbly tooth was annoying her. I offered to try to remove it and it came out as soon as I touched it! Oven ready, you might say. Anyway, she was much more cheerful after that.

Dh has had his hair cut. And his beard. And his eyebrows. And his neck. The barber didn’t know where to stop! 🤣🤣 I’ve paid the price today for gardening, with aches and pains, but I’ve managed to do some more box-sorting for the study. The cats are enjoying having all these mysterious activities going on around them, they’re always in the way, somehow. Which I guess is a cat’s purpose in life, really. 🐈‍⬛

I’m feeling sleeping already so goodnight to you all. Xxx

yiayia I hope you have a lovely break on the Isle of Wight. grannyg4 I was thinking if you today, wondering if you were enjoying your holiday with your family. I’m sure you must be missing your DH on this sort of occasion.
A grey day here again, with very brief glimpses of the sun every now and then. I did about half an hours gardening, all I can manage at the moment, but I cut back a large fuchsia which was spreading out across the lawn and attacking anyone attempting to cut the grass. I also cut back a large smoke bush, which has obviously enjoyed the wet weather this year and grown exponentially. I left a rose bush because it still has lots of pink roses on. I’ll get it when it stops flowering.
Tomorrow will be ironing and housework! I certainly know how to enjoy myself (not!).

Redcar...I know what you mean about the roses... We've got a gorgeous scented deep orange one still flowering...lots of the plants are late as they were transplanted/planted later when the raised borders were put in...hence 2 yellow Canas are just flowering too.
Brook...I hope the cellulitis is slowly healing. I had a cut on my leg ( courtesy of one of the dogs claws) just before we were due to go on holiday last year. It looked a bit weird and hurt so I went to the doctor and was told it was cellulitis which was a shock as I thought we might not be able to get away. The antibiotics worked along with the sun and rest so maybe you need to book a trip to the sun. ( Purely on medical grounds of course).

Right I'm off to aqua aerobics again this morning....I haven't recovered from Tuesdays session so goodness knows why I said yes when the leisure centre phoned last night and offered me a place in class this morning. I was going to say an afternoon siesta is definitely on the cards until I remembered I'm helping at the Festival of light celebrations at church. It's the (Catholic) alternative to Halloween. I think there was mention of dressing up as your favourite saint. That won't be happening !!!!!!

I had fun at Book Group this afternoon. A wide array of genres were discussed. I talked about a dystopian novel by a Japanese/American, A Voyage around the Queen by Craig Brown, Emma by Jane Austen and Stanley Tucci’s book about all the food he ate in one year. All while I was eating a tuna sandwich and a slice of coffee cake.

We are having a Bol tonight which I made yesterday but needs tarting up a bit.

I have made a batch of lemon ice cream. Elder son and his family are coming to stay tomorrow and my granddaughter loves my ice cream.

I've just had my first wee guisers at the front door, witches and fairies, with Hallowe'en mummies hovering at the end of the path. Parents are leaving baskets of treats on their doorsteps whilst they escort the wee ones around the houses. I hope I'm not left with sweeties cos I might just eat them...
The Wee Boy is a Marvel superhero, Wolverine, I was admiring his spiky hair and scary makeup, only to be told , somewhat indignantly,
' It's not make up, Gran, it's face paint!!'

We are here in our ‘happy place’. Flight on time, only about a quarter full too I’ve never seen so many empty seats on a plane! We’ve just come down to Pedro’s, such a happy bar. Pedro, Nelly and Louthess delighted to see us with joyful hugs all round. Lucky us indeed.

Oh Blossoming. I’ve just scrolled up and seen your post. I’m truly sorry to hear you’re struggling and sincerely hope better times are only round the corner for you health-wise. You are one brave lady that’s for sure.

Yes, fortunately. It’s pleasantly warm here, dry and all the windows are pulled back in Pedro’s.

Such a lot going on with everyone. I’m impressed by the industry and energy. Life is pretty routine here. I’m frankly envious of the holidaymakers, think a change of scene would be good. As it’s not possible I’ll enjoy hearing about everyone’s experiences instead.

No chance of a dental appointment until next week. Two positives though, the tooth isn’t painful and I can put my anxiety about anything dental on a shelf for now. always a bright side .

The engineer came this morning and tested our cooker, said nothing wrong with it. I definitely disagree but haven’t the energy to argue, in fairness the oven is rarely used so perhaps it’s one of those things not worth arguing about.

A good afternoon was spent in the sunshine at our nearest National Trust. Enjoyed seeing so many happy children relishing the space in the grounds. Finished the visit with a cuppa accompanied by a more than decent scone. Excellent.

Tomorrow is a full one. Volunteering in the morning, TaiChi after lunch then back to accept a phone call from the development area manager. She’s a super woman, combining efficiency with a genuine interest in people. I always enjoy a chat with her. The day will fly past. Nothing exciting though . I do need a change!

Feet up time here now. I’m weary this evening, only averaging 4 hours sleep at the moment, hoping for more tonight.

Hi everyone, another grey day, not a peek of sun. But, a lovely lunch with my friend, bubble and squeak, ham and eggs, then a library visit, I love having a stash. Six books, may see me through the festives, seven weeks - maybe.
Early evening I dropped our friend at the local airport, rush hour traffic, yuk!
MrJ is sorting his favourites from the leftover Halloween sweets, we don’t often have chocolate, he’s happy.

Forgot, my daughter made a Halloween cake, I don’t bake, she and Imogen do, so did my Mum, clever sticks!

jaxjacky that cake looks yummy! I used to bake a lot when my DDs were young, then they both went on diets, and cake wasn’t part of that. If I make a cake now, I have to eat it, so I don’t bake any more!
fgt pleased you are in your happy place and that Malaga hasn’t suffered from the floods afflicting Valencia. Enjoy the autumn sunshine!

Very few trick or treaters in my road this evening, but I’m sure that they were out in force in other parts of the village.
My DDs took the grandchildren out, plus some friends and had a good time, collecting lots of sweets.
The sun eventually made an appearance this afternoon and I was prompted to do a bit more gardening - mainly cutting back brambles which were encroaching from my neighbour’s garden. Did some ironing, but still more to do tomorrow.

I’m existing on four/five hours sleep a night as well, Cornergran, so sympathy.
I’m not a fan of sp*ders, Jaxjackie but I think I could cope with those!

I’ve been at a meeting with a local group today, which was very nice, just seeing folk and an added bonus of advice on what to do with my rhubarb plant from a green fingered friend. Though I accidentally ended up in a broom cupboard when I went to find a loo. I didn’t think broom cupboards really existed, but they do! This one was full of brushes and buckets and garden coats and an ancient sink. The real loo was round a corner and much better appointed, I can report. 🚽

We’ve changed our chemist recently and my goodness, it’s like going from night to day. I think we’ll be sticking with these people, they’re excellent. The old ones, we had to chase up all the time, it was exhausting. Tomorrow it’s GS day so we’ll have to come up with a plan to keep him amused. I think it’ll be dry so we can be outside for a bit.
