Thank you for all your support, especially of late. I greatly appreciate your patience. You are truly the best.
Buffet is open. For those who enjoy a glass of bubbly, there is plenty in the chill cabinet.
Enjoy!
I must away for a wee while. I shall catch up later.

NNGB that should be- flippin fat fingers x
I hope mrsoop gets on well with his appointment today. Very cold but sunny here today.
Nothing much going on today, I’m trying to keep warm, DD1 and DSilaw are working from home. DD1 is making soup for lunch which will warm us all up.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Dropping in to wish all goes well for Mrsoop and he returns home without weather or traffic delays.
Very cold in East Yorkshire today. We had a snow flurry this morning. I’ve been to have my roots done and did the usual magazine reading whilst the colour was doing its magic. Got home to find the bit on the arm ( think that’s what it’s called)of my glasses is missing 😬
It seems a bit late to post on the good morning thread so I thought I'd pop in here if I'm allowed! Site was down all morning and not had time to post before hopping on the bus to get here.
A sunny good afternoon from DD's abode in East Northants; freezing cold and very windy out but I was well wrapped in my padded coat. She is WFH so I am being extra quiet and not disturbing her.
We are going out to our ladies' wine club tonight, and looking forward to it. One of our new members is hosting.
Yesterday I decided not to join the walking group as it was so cold and snowy, so I made mince pies instead - tried one, resisted another, and the rest are in the freezer.
Ring at the doorbell in the morning, and a gardener/treeman was there. I've used him before so I got a quote to prune and tidy my huge whitebeam in the front garden. It was reasonable so he did it there and then.
And then two more neighbours appeared and asked him to do their trees, so it was a profitable morning for him.
Hope all enjoy the rest of their day.
As I also couldn’t post this morning, just to say good afternoon to all. A slightly frustrating day trying to get a referral letter from the GP and getting stuck in a traffic jam. I now intend to just read for a bit.
Hi kitchen pals, it’s lovely to have some of our good morningers with us today , a very warm kitchen welcome to lulu and BlueSapphire please stay!
We’ve had quite a lot of snow here, the roads are really icy and it’s not been above freezing all day 🥶 I did go out carefully to the Zumba class at the gym and then coffee at a local garden centre with a couple of friends, we spent ages chatting as usual
I hope MrSoop is ok travelling in this really cold weather
Take care all and keep warm and cosy x
Hi all, even cold down here brook.
Bedding washed and dried and lots of stuffing made, it’s become popular, hand chopping onions and herbs is time consuming.
I too hope Mrsoop is home safely.
To the very welcome mornings 👋👋 we get excellent hugs here as well as tlc and solace.
Morningers!
‘Evening All’
It’s bitterly cold here tonight. Brr! I’m going out in an hour to our book club meet at the pub round the corner. It used to be the big old Post Office. The novel we are discussing is ‘The Lamplighter’ which I thoroughly enjoyed (based on a true story about the disappearance of 3 lighthouse keepers in Scotland in the early 70’s). To be honest if I’d have picked up this novel in a bookstore I wouldn’t have bought it, but that’s why I love book group!
FGT I used to teach the poem that was based on the true story. Flannan Isle. I hope the book was good.
I'm in bed because it's warm and cosy. It is freezing here and hasn't got much above freezing all day. I had a lovely lunch with friends. Goodnight all
I’m popping in again. I’m just off to bed as sleeping over at DD2’s whilst she is on the night shift. It will be an early morning with the two little ones.
I just noticed she has hardly any milk for the children’s breakfast so DH is popping some over, he isn’t happy to come out in the cold but agreed he would. My DD2 is struggling with everything at the moment and is normally so well organised. Good job we only live 10 mins from each other in the car!
Goodnight all, and thank you for welcoming me into the kitchen
I’m sat here with a milky drink, wrapped in a heated throw. DD1 recommended I get one, ‘ to help your aches and pains’ and because I feel the cold. It’s great, and I recommend it.
DH doesn’t feel the cold so keeps turning the thermostat down, so now I can stay warm in my own little corner and he’ll be happy.
Hope the Good morning thread is back tomorrow to catch up.
I'm very late, popping in to see if there is news of Mr Soop's safe return. Hoping and praying that all has gone well for him today.
TOYA, NNGB.
A quick hello to the kitchen people! I wrote a fairly long post last night, but it disappeared. I mentioned that my book group read the same book as FGT’s and enjoyed it. Best wishes to Mr Soop.
Hi kitchen pals, hope everyone is doing ok today
Our plans to go out today changed as we’re snowed in just now. We live at the very end of a cul de sac, it’s been snowing all morning and the road is blocked. DH and a couple of kind neighbours are out with shovels so we should be ok soon. Meanwhile I’m just making best use of the time and sorting out the Christmas decorations, it’s feeling very festive, although I know it’s far too early! Everything has ground to a halt here, buses cancelled and schools closed etc. I think the amount of snow has caught everyone out as we’re usually well prepared 🤷♀️
I’m another fan of heated throws GrandmaC47 lovely and warm
Hopefully hear from Soop later with good news of Mr Soop
Your DD2 sounds just like my DD2 GrannyIvy - I’ve been in similar situations many times
Thinking of everyone sat in the quiet corner, stay cosy and warm amongst friends ❤️
My day hasn’t gone to plan so far!
Pedicure and manicure cancelled so I stayed home and wrote all the Christmas cards, made more Christmas lists along with more finger shopping (online)
I envy those with snow, I love it ❄️☃️⛄️
Will pop back later to check on the soops
Hello Kitchen. I am so happy for Kate and Kitty such good news enjoy.
Still struggling a bit here my cold and cough is on the mend but DH is quite poorly,he has an appointment at the acute illness centre later, also ongoing with the catheter and seeing the consultant next week. Its such a shame he got over the cancer operation so well and now has other things going on.He’s very low and grumpy quite understandable really.
Our twin sons will be 39 tomorrow. It seems like yesterday I was pushing them in the twin pram with big brother in his seat on top.🤣
Hope the Soops are O.K.
Love that picture Jax thank you for sharing !
Sorry to hear about your DH still feeling poorly yia it must be so difficult for you both. I hope something can be done soon, take care ❤️
Well done with writing the Christmas cards GG13, you sound organised nice and early
Our back garden looks snowy, nice to look at but difficult if you need to go out
That's what I call snow brook! We have snow forecast for Saturday morning so I'm doing the food shopping tomorrow morning, then heading out to lunch. I was at dgs1's school for a reading event today because dd couldn't make it. It was lovely. Primary one pupils got a bag of books from Scottish Book Trust. We read them together and they each voted on their favourite. Dgs1 was very excited to see me there
Came in to see if there was news of mr soop. 🤞 all is well.
Just a little of the white stuff here. Mostly sleet and rain. Storm Bert is heading our way on Saturday, High winds and an excess of rain. It’s not gentle weather time for sure.
Shocked to hear from a close friend this morning, she had been to A&E as it seemed she had experienced a stroke or maybe a TIA, the A&E doctor wasn’t certain after scans and testing. A clinic appointment should be on it’s way. There are few physical effects but goodness she’s understandably anxious at ten years younger than me it wasn’t on her radar. That’s three poorly friends, enough now please.
Filling achieved by a gentle and kind dentist this morning, so different to the person we saw last time, personal stress levels have reduced, I’m not the most relaxed of patients. Looking forward to a flying visit from our hard working granddaughter this evening. She works as a carer in peoples homes and loves it. Earning money to travel next Spring. We’re very proud of her, at 18 she’s carrying huge responsibility.
I’ll be reading if not posting, not much to say really. Stay warm and well everyone.
Sorry to hear about your friend corner I imagine it was such a shock for everyone, I hope she recovers well. Enjoy the visit from your DGD this evening, she sounds very caring
How lovely that you could see your DGS at school grandmabatty and enjoyed the books together - awww
I think dgs1 was also excited by the biscuits provided! His teachers(job share) are just lovely. Corner I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I wish her a full recovery
‘Evening All’.
Oh Jax that photo of a row of mittens drying on a radiator was delightful! It really made me smile.
brook you really DO have snow. We don’t. It ‘tried’ at 3pm but it was just a flurry and didn’t stick. But by ‘eck it’s COLD in Urmston today.
I spent all morning at the hair salon (colour & cut, so ages!) and walking was treacherous occasionally. I had to watch where I planted my boots again.
Yia I’m so sorry your darling husband is struggling right now especially as he did so well with his surgical intervention. Now is a tricky time and anxiety will be high but take heart. His doctors will be aware and have seen it all before. You’re in good hands and I hope for better news very soon.
👋 to Blossoming if you are reading. Bet it’s snowy on the coast where you are dear lady. I expect you are hunkered down and being exceedingly well looked after as per by your wonderful husband.
Right, I’ve got to get ready. Make up to apply as I’m no natural beauty. In a favourable light I’ll pass muster. We are going out for a pub meal with the 2 brothers of Himself, plus their wives. The brothers are very witty and bat off one another so I’m looking forward to this evening. Heck - pick up in 20 minutes! Aargh! 🏃♂️ 🏃♂️
I hope mr.soop is home safely soon and encouraged by his care.
