Do you holiday in the same location every year?

We like to see different places and have been / are lucky enough to do that. However, every year we visit south Cornwall, Roseland or Lizard peninsula.
We love the area and it always feels like a second home.

I think that's it - it feels like a second home going back somewhere you like :-)

No, but we do return to Bridport more than other places and are planning Weston super mare next year, we’ve been once before.

Yes anna7 my Husband also has mobility problems which is why we are considering somewhere tried and tested where we can both feel comfortable. It will probably be in the UK as we find airports a nightmare not to mention the cost of insurance to cover his health issues. As He is a blue badge holder we feel more confident about parking and the fact that he wont have to walk to far. We have had some wonderful holidays over the years and it is now about adapting to what He can do rather that what He can't do. We are hopeful that we will be able to get away even if it is only for a short break. We are so lucky (weather aside) to have some beautiful places to visit in the UK.

I hired a mobility scooter in Gran Canaria last year and it was a godsend, so I would thoroughly recommend it. Mind you, I am not brave enough to use one at home, as I still have problems seeing myself as disabled, and the day may come when I have no option.
Also, if you do fancy going abroad, the special assistance at airports is first class. I’ve been using it for many years, and it meant that the Bodach and I had absolutely no stress at the airports.

Kittylester Aldeburgh! All my childhood holidays were spent there, and I have photos of my grandmother and her sisters holidaying there in their youth. By the time we were teenagers in the early 60s there was quite a scene for the young people, met every summer.
But when I got married and the children were little, it was always Kingsbridge in south Devon, warmer than Aldeburgh and safer beaches!

I haven't had a holiday since 2013 but up till then we went to different places.

Different places for me every time.
I spent a long time touring in a motorhome and always wanted to move on every day.
But each to his own.

I agree special assistance at the airports is very good. My husband is thinking of hiring one of those mobility scooters in a few weeks when we fly to Lanzarote. He feels a bit embarrassed about it but I will pass on your comments Daddima.

We have a couple of favourite resorts we return to frequently and also like to try new places too. This year one of these was the Italian lakes. We fell in love with the region and look forward to visiting some other lake areas in the future.

When I was a child we went to Weston every year Jaxjacky got many happy memories of our times there.

Until I was unable to get travel insurance, we travelled to Rome over thirty times, I ahve lost count.

We found a hotel, where we were treated like family and stayed at least once a year. I miss it so much.

Once a year, we stay in a cottage in the East Neuk of Fife, but do visit other places in Scotland (I can't be too far away from medical assistance).

I used to be so adventurous, but now I just want to feel comfortable and at ease.

For the last 10 years that we were able to go abroad we always went to the same little hotel in Italy. One of our friends thought we were very odd, but it was like having a holiday home there without all the stress and worry. We had the same room every year and we were treated like family. If we spent a night away they didn't even charge us for the room that night.

My in-laws had a house in the South of France so we went every year for about 12 years. We were spoiled!

I sometimes wish I had a place where the family would all gather. But I don't.

I like to go to the Scottish Islands each year. It's Skye at present but I have been to quite a few.

When our kids were small we camped in the same field in Mull every year. We took the wee ferry to Iona and went to Bunessan fair. It was very Katie Morag. Happy days.

We flew with Jet2 to Lanzarote in June and stayed at Playa Blanca, somewhere we know well.

We took our son and his girlfriend (40) who took her own mobility scooter with her.
She booked to take this through the airline's assistance department.
They can only carry three battery-powered appliances (scooter or wheelchair) per flight so you need to book a place in the hold.
There was no charge for this, she just had to give the dimensions and details of the scooter and the type of battery it has.

We were all taken up to the plane door in the ambulift, along with several other family groups.
I'd booked seats towards the front, row 6, so she didn't have far to walk once onboard.
It was the first time she'd flown since she's had the scooter and everything went perfectly 😊

We share a beach house with fam but we never go on any other holidays to the same place. Mostly the beach house is just Christmas hols and the odd weekend - depends who in the family is using it. I like to see different places otherwise but now they have to be within 8 hours plane journey so Europe is out.

We had a holiday home in France for over 30 years, but except in the early years when all our spare cash went into its renovation we would always haev one holiday a year elsewhere. Initially, just long weekends away somewhere new
but as time went by and we had more money and fewer renovations we did get more adventurous, and more expensive

When my grandsons were small we went to a pleasant enough hotel, with indoor pool and golf course, in Cornwall. We were a little surprised when fellow holidaymakers asked whether we had booked for the next year yet. Apparently that was what the majority of families did. We preferred different locations each year.

My mother was born in Weston and sad to leave in her teens due to her father’s illness. We visited almost every year. Both my daughter and I have happy memories, the tide does come in twice a day contrary to popular opinion!
She wanted her ashes scattered on a family grave at St Nicolas Uphill. We were refused permission by the Bishop as the graveyard was closed. I took them anyway and put a plant on the grave. Some ashes scattered but as the wind took others off over the Bristol Channel I found myself saying ‘Fly, Mummy!”

We have done, a) when dds were very little water babies, up to their late teens, because a lovely beach and warm sea/watersports were what we all enjoyed.

Rather later dh and I have returned several times to the same (relatively un-touristy) seaside town - initially discovered almost by accident - in the Pelopponese. We’ve always loved Greece.

Should had added, warm sea is always a priority for any summer/late summer holiday. I do like topping up my Vitamin Sea, though will also swim in U.K. sea if and when it’s warmed up a bit.

No, always somewhere different, though over the years we have returned to see more of areas we like, but never stayed in exactly the same place.
Now I am on my own, it will be different. This year I did two coach holidays to places I had not been to before. I don’t think I have the courage to plan my own trip abroad, but I might go if there is an organised trip to a place that appeals, or I might organise my own trip within the UK eg Scotland.

Sadly, I won't travel by car anymore after a couple of near misses with oncoming cars. My DH's judgement has become questionable!! Its like being in a car with a boy-racer! I really miss our lovely escapades but my nerves simply can't handle his barmy driving. 🥴

It took us quite a while to realise that we didn't have a weekend anymore and we could go places when ever we pleased 😁

I have often thought this but so many things tie us down during the week (exercise classes, choir practice, doctor's appointments) and we end up going away at the weekend anyway.

Each to his/her own! I’m considered odd because I don’t like going away at all. My home is my sanctuary and I love pottering around my town and its environs.
I’m not driving ATM but will be buying a new car soon and plan to have some days out and might even feel adventurous enough to take the occasional mini-break!
I come from an immigrant family and traveled a bit when I was younger and that was enough for me.
I think going back to the same place every year sounds lovely. And it doesn’t matter at all what other people think.

There is one place where we go every year, in Tuscany. And otherwise is is a huge mix. We stick to Europe these days, for insurance issues- but that is fine. So so much to experience and see- and we try to go by car or train as much as possible. Car so that our dog can come with us. Our next trip will be to Istria on the spring, the northern part of Croatia- by car with doggie.

We do. Mainly because we want to take our dog with us for a holiday too. We've found some lovely cottages in a beautiful part of Scotland on a large estate (great for doggy), near several good beaches with an award winning Indian restaurant nearby and a good selection of things to do/see. Having a hot tub is great for our aches and pains too.
