Good Morning Sunday 17th November 2024
(43 Posts)Good morning from Bristol. Too dark/too many street lights to know what it’s like outside. It’s not that warm, but not frosty…
I had a frantic morning in church yesterday. Did my cleaning stint while other ladies (always ladies) were messing around putting out their —tat— craft for sale.
People started coming in early and it was very busy from then on.
I have no idea how much was raised for MSF but I served endless coffee, I even had to wash up mugs. We don’t normally have so many people in that we nearly run out.
Exhausted, I came home had lunch then went to sleep…
I’ve put the last bits of edging on my quilt, it’ll be finished by tomorrow. I need another project, but have been putting off making matching pj bottoms for the family out of an old duvet cover for Christmas, at the request of DD.
In the early evening, my neighbour and I went to a talk, followed by an all Vivaldi concert in the local URC church just up the road. Three small concerti, “Winter” from the 4 seasons and the fabulous Gloria. A very enjoyable evening.
Today, I’ve been asked to help at a church breakfast between the two services put on for a retired warden and his wife’s golden wedding. He has advanced Parkinson’s, poor man.
The rest of the day is quiet.
Have a blessed Sunday, quiet and peaceful. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
Good morning from Shropshire where it is dry and dark at the moment.
My injection seemed to go well yesterday.DH drove me to my appointment and has been looking after me while I rest. The dr advised 24 hours rest.
After my appointment we collected H who came for a sleepover as DGD was having a sleepover for six friends for her 9th birthday. She loved the teepee sleepover tents DD had booked.
Today will be rest and reading and returning H at some point.DD’s car is in the garage waiting for a part so DH is on driving duty.
What a busy day grandMattie.
Have the best day you can everyone🦩
Morning Mick, morning All. Not looked out. The forecast is for a dry and chilly today with some sun.
Thoroughly enjoyable day yesterday. We spent some time in a garden centre with a large and beautiful if busy Christmas display. Much to the surprise of all who know me we came out with - nothing. Well, Mr C bought an ice scraper for the car to go with the four we have already. No, I don’t understand either.
The afternoon with family was a relaxed treat. It’s been so long since our son could be home at the weekend without work interruptions. Lovely to catch up and hear everyone’s news. We’ll see them again in a month at our home, we can even plan now. Hooray
Later today it’s the turn of our other son. We’ll share a Chinese meal delivered from a family favourite restaurant and put the world to rights. Much as we love our granddaughters spending time with their Dad without them gives us a chance to chat in ways we don’t when they are about. A very mobile weekend for us but oh so worth it. Tomorrow we rest!
I’ll pop back later to catch up with everyone's news. Hope Sunday is kind to us all.
Good morning from s somerset, it might be partly sunny today
Yesterday was spent on the allotment and I did get a lot done, my shed roofing was very successful by the way and the wall preservative was too, the wood relaxed and I filled holes. It looks very good now. I want to do the floor and put storage hooks up but in winter, not now. All I need at this stage is to be winter-ready
It will be more of the same today
Have a good day
Good morning from a dry, chilly Torbay.
Last night's play was very well delivered by four talented actors, all female, with two of them being new to our stage. The script was from the same playwright who wrote Calendar Girls so a clever combination of drama, humour and pathos.
A busy day, grandMattie but the Vivaldi concert must have been a treat! I sang in a performance of the Gloria when I was at college 55 years ago and loved it!
A novel idea for a sleepover, Susan56! I hope your injection has given relief.
DH and I giggled about the fifth ice scraper, cornergran. I often read him extracts from the GM thread as we sip our TIB.
Church this morning then a rehearsal for Wind in the Willows later. We are now welcoming another new actor as the original Badger has pneumonia. This play has gone through a few changes due to illness, not least my friend in hospital awaiting chemotherapy, whom I visited on Thursday.
A blessed Sunday to you all. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩
Good morning from Durham, where it’s still dark, but the heating has kicked in and my App says it feels like -3.
I have DGS2 here, still asleep, but I’m taking him to his swimming session, so an early start. After I’ve taken him home, I’m going to a Christmas Fayre with DD2 and DGS2 and I’m staying overnight with them to do the Nursery run tomorrow morning as DD2 has a work conference from 6-9am.
Best wishes to all. X
Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a cold, still dark South Yorkshire where the prospect is for a clear dry morning and then sleet in the late afternoon!! I will be indoors most of the day as I am booked onto day’s tuition with a local artist at her studio, near to where DD lives. It should be very interesting. Whether I’ll produce anything worthwhile is another matter.
Have the best day you can, folks.
Good morning from my gloriously chilly patio in Cornwall, such bracing air. I'm about to rebuild my little flat after my granddaughter's visit yesterday. We decided to tip out all my knitting wool and sort it but got completely distracted by crocheting.
Today I'm sorting a present for my grandson's 15th birthday while I'm away. Where did that time go? I came back from Liverpool to help look after him when he was two. It seems like yesterday. For a present his mum has requested a large tin of my home-made gingerbread men and other shapes because 'he adores them.' Different, but I know he'll love that. After I've finished baking I'll pack my case as I'm leaving for Liverpool early in the morning.
Good morning from a chilly W Kent. The heating has come on again today. I am getting a bit to used to being indoors but best at present I think. Visit from DD2 and chat with DS cheered us up yesterday. Today a good lunch and more television I expect
Take care everyone
Good morning from Malta where we have a dry day in store with a high of 20°C and a low of 13°C.
Yesterday I had an unexpected meet up with a friend for coffee. We were too hot sitting in the sun but it was lovely have a chat.
Today I will go to Mass and maybe FaceTime my friend in Leicester if she is feeling better as she was not well yesterday. We message each other every day.
Wishing a good day to you all.☀️
Good morning all from North Leicestershire where it has been raining.
DD3 and family are coming for lunch today after DGS4 has played football. DH is going to watch him play while I prepare lunch. Think I have the best of that deal!
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning all and it’s grey, still and damp here in Essex. A real No…vember day.
DS1 and DIL are coming for coffee this morning. I don’t expect the girls will be up (teens don’t do weekend mornings).
One of our gd’s have had a tepee party like that Susan. What fun!
You’re progressing well with your allotment Karma.👍.
Enjoy the day as best you can 🍁🌻
Good morning everyone from a chilly Inverness, some snow flurries in the forecast and a cold day ahead
A lovely picture Susan56 I bet the little girls loved it!
We’ve no plans for today but will go out somewhere for a short walk and a bit of fresh air
Safe travels tomorrow Mizuna and everyone else travelling around
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Morning everyone, I think it is trying to brighten up 🤞
I sleep 8 1/2 hours last night, unheard of!
As I didn’t feel great yesterday I have jobs to do today, first on the list is going to
Halfords to get a bike for The Imps Christmas gift, then over the road to
Sainsbury (they have a discount on wine, as we now have 19 here for Boxing Day we need to stock up!) Last of all pop into Aldi’s. Once home I can relax before cooking roast beef for dinner, no AC or GC eating with us so it will not be till 7pm (ish)
Enjoy your day 🙋♀️
Good morning everyone from a drab and wet Northampton, feels colder this morning. Not.going out till lunchtime so hope it brightens up before then.
Put a condolence card through my bereaved neighbour's letter-box yesterday morning.
Then went to the shops, and got presents for two friends who give me lifts throughout the year to say thank you for them and how grateful I am. Watched rugby on tv when I got back.
Today it's our annual dance event - we.participate in a nationwide 'Tapathon" whereby dance classes from all over the country perform the same tap routine at the same time. We have also learnt three other tap routines to perform today. Then it's the turn of the Silver Swans, our ballet group, who will also perform three contrasting dances.
We shall be ready for the tea and cake after all that!
The afternoon finishes with an informal quiz and raffle.
I too sang Vivaldi's Gloria when I was at college in the 60s; that was the first half of our concert; the second half was Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, so two more contrasting pieces you could not find!
Have a pleasant Sunday everyone.
Morning all from West Oxfordshire.
Church this morning at the smallest church in the Benefice.
Not sure about the rest of the day. There’s a Farmers Market nearby so we might go to that.
Have a good day.
Good morning all from the Black country where I can see a little bit of blue sky.
Managed to tidy front garden yesterday before the rain set in, lawn to wet though so that will have to be left was hoping to get one more cut done.
At DiLs mums today for tea and cake it's the family get together for Dgs1 birthday, DH turns his hearing aids off once all the 6 grandkids arrive.
Take care all and have a good day whatever your plans ☀️
Good morning. The weather in N. Bucks is the same dull but luckily dry.
We had a lovely lunch with our eldest (22) Grandson yesterday and a mooch around the town.
Today I’m meeting with my Scrapbooking friends so all materials packed , most importantly homemade cake.
I’m hoping DH will make a start on painting the 20 wooden hoops that are needed for another craft group.
Will pick up MIL later and we are going to DD3a d family for dinner.
Hope you all have a pleasant day.
Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is only 1°C.
My day was spent yesterday participating in my Zoom Safeguarding conference. It was a bit harrowing at times and I was exhausted by the time it finished.
I did enjoy all the Internet techie stuff, ( I am a geek) including tips how to stay safe in the event of receiving phising calls and emails.
Today, I need to pop down to church and kit out a new female altar server. The sacristy is all male, therefore, to follow safeguarding protocol, I need to be there.
Sunday dinner will be something DH loves, but we haven't had in a long time. Turkey breast, a layer stuffing, ( my Irish grannie's recipe), wrapped in sausage meat and covered with pastry.
Yesterday, I made minestrone soup. There was enough to feed us, the clergy and my family will have takeaway into the bargain!
I still haven't learned the art of cooking for two!
It's Dollie's birthday tomorrow, she is beyond ecstatic at the thought of becoming nine, so I have presents to wrap. Innocently, she told me that the elves will come tomorrow, they always come on her birthday.😍
I wish you all a pleasant Sunday and hugs for all, who are struggling.
Good morning everyone from a wet south Manchester. The Boy Wonder has an away ⚽️ match, mum & dad are going and L’il Miss has asked can she stay with grandma? We are birds of a feather, neither of us like the cold wet weather so she’ll be over for her porridge with me in half an hour. I’ve got my mug of TIB to finish first. I thought we might get the huge box of old photos down from the bookcase - she’ll enjoy seeing some of her mummy as a baby or a schoolgirl.
Lunch today later with my stepfather at my favourite pub. I’m looking forward to a roast dinner with a giant Yorkshire pudding.
Oh, and the car passed its MOT yesterday! Happy Days.
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 2° and dry with a clear sky at the moment. Snow is forecast but not til tomorrow. Susan the tepee party looks like such fun. GrandMattie another full on day for you yesterday. Cornergran can I borrow one of the scrapers? I never know where I've put mine.
Yesterday was busy with housework and washing. I got a food shop done too. I even washed the floors. I watched Moonflower Murders last night as I'm a big fan of Lesley Manville. It's quirky.
Today I need wrapping paper for dgs2's birthday present and I'll visit mum. I'll make a chicken and leek pie for dinner which will do me tomorrow too. Have a good day all.
Good morning from a damp and dreary Oxfordshire, we had the dog overnight so MissOops will be here later to collect her.
We are due to have our bathroom started tomorrow, MrOops has emptied it as far as we can, just the airing cupboard to empty, let’s hope they arrive, it’s all gone very quiet from their end.
Have a good Sunday everyone.
Good morning from a very cold County Durham.
Yesterday we went to a local Christmas fayre at a nearby historic house which was once a seminary. It's virtually on our doorstep and we enjoy supporting events there.
After much debating I came away with chocolate and fudge. Resisting the decorations was hard, many made from local sea glass and pebbles and even recycled wire. What caught my eye was a beautifully carved Pinocchio but common sense ruled, just where would I put him?
A quiet day today and I may even make a start with some gift wrapping from my stash. I have a cupboard with bits and pieces collected during the year and the danger is always in maybe repeating a purchase forgotten.
Wishing all a happy and peaceful day.
Good morning from the Essex coast. It is not quite so dull and dismal as previous days.
This morning is the the AGM at the Yacht club, DH, as treasurer , will be suited and booted.
Hopefully we will find somewhere to have Sunday lunch afterwards.
Susan one of my granddaughters had one of those tepee parties, such fun when you are little.
Last night we watched the first two episodes of The Day of the Jackal, well worth a watch.
Have a pleasant day everyone xx
