Welcome dear Kitcheners. I am very happy to be opening the door to my favourite Granspals.

We have a new Aga. The atmosphere is cosy ' The buffet is ready for the sharing of. In the quiet corner we have music to suit all tastes. There are reclining chairs and cosy blankets and if all one wants to do is relax, then please do so.

By the way, it is a dear pal Baggs birthday tomorrow. There is a birthday cake in the larder. There is also plenty of Champagne with which to toast her.

I am off to my bed.

Thank you all for being extra special people. flowers moon]

I told dd this morning about my fall yesterday and she immediately said I should have called her. I eased her mind a bit but I expect lots of daily calls checking I'm ok. Dgs2 has had a bowl of soup, a sandwich and a piece of chocolate cake for lunch. He's being very cute

Greetings to you lovely lot, Mr Soop is feeling very fragile. He has slept almost continuously since his return. Skin was taken from his thigh and grafted on to his scalp where the cancerous lesions have been removed. The bone was shaved and a polymer filling installed. He is on strong pain killers and antibiotics. thank you for all your kind words. They are greatly appreciated.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 19-Jan-25 13:55:09

Poor man. He’s been through t’mill thats for sure. I hope he has adequate pain relief soop. You will both be feeling pretty exhausted today I imagine. x

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 19-Jan-25 14:01:01

Gosh Soop, Mr Soop’s head looks very sore. I hope the painkillers work. Is that it for now or is more surgery required?

SueDonim Sun 19-Jan-25 15:12:54

Poor MrSoop. I am so sorry that he’s having to bear this. I’m sure he’ll have been told to take regular painkillers to keep on top of the discomfort. flowers

Nannytopsy Sun 19-Jan-25 15:28:48

Poor Mr S. Give him love from his ladies.

Susan56 Sun 19-Jan-25 16:02:49

Oh my goodness soop.Poor Mr soop. You both have a lot to bear right now.Sending love, strength and🙏🏻💐

Grandmabatty Sun 19-Jan-25 16:53:01

MrSoop 💐
The haggis is in the oven in a nice, warm bath, the turnip(swede) is boiling away, soon to be mashed and the potatoes are ready to go on. I'm prepared for dinner.
Dgs2 was very good today. Dgs1 didn't behave well at the party so dd brought him away early. She thinks he's tired because he got up very early. I suggested listening to his Tonie instead of getting up and that idea went down well. We'll see what tomorrow brings.
I was going to visit mum this afternoon after dgs2 went home, however I fell asleep and didn't wake for an hour! I'll have to go another day.
I wish you all a pleasant evening

Yiayia4 Sun 19-Jan-25 17:16:16

Grandmabatty Hope your 0.K after your fall,It does shake you up.🌹

We went to watch DGS3 play football today it was so cold and they lost.🤣 It’s a week of appointments again,DH has a procedure tomorrow for an assessment of the prostrate problem then on Friday, with the urologist to review..On Saturday he has a liver scan, he’s very apprehensive but hopefully will be alright.

Roast chicken for dinner.Enjoy your evening everyone.

Jaxjacky Sun 19-Jan-25 18:16:41

Goodness, that looks so sore, poor Mrsoop lots of tlc needed.
Thinking of your Mr this week Yia, chicken in the oven here too.
I had a very swift walk earlier, it’s cold and very light rain, not pleasant, MrJ watched Fin play football, he got man of the match, Fin, not MrJ!!
Ta, da we actually won the meat draw at in our local, not once but twice! A good win for the 25th Grandmabatty

Grandmabatty Sun 19-Jan-25 18:34:43

Jaxjacky well done Finn! The haggis, neeps and tatties were delicious and I have enough for tomorrow night too. No meat raffle where I live, I don't think.

Jaxjacky Sun 19-Jan-25 18:55:16

It seems to be regional Grandmabatty quite common here, we’re between Winchester and Southampton.
Any leftovers from ours will go in a cottage pis with mince x 2.

Pantglas2 Sun 19-Jan-25 18:58:28

Don’t often post but always pop in for a read and couldn’t pass without wishing Mr Soop the very best recovery and a huge hug for Soop 🤗

In fact a hug for all on this lovely thread x

cornergran Sun 19-Jan-25 19:41:53

You must be so relieved mr soop is home soop. I know you’ll be looking after each other, love to you both and get well wishes to mr soop. .

Redcar Sun 19-Jan-25 20:01:50

Poor Mr soop that looks so sore, and I suspect that his thigh where the skin was removed for the graft, is almost as sore as his head. Sending love to you both.
jax the meat draw looks good and well done Fin.
yiayia an uncomfortable week for your DH, I hope all goes well, with encouraging results for him.
Bitterly cold here again, only 3 degrees all day, I think tomorrow May be a little less cold, before we have rain and gales later in the week. Roll on Spring!

brook2704 Sun 19-Jan-25 21:24:04

Oh poor Mr Soop that looks so painful 😥 what an ordeal he’s going through, sending love x
Hoping all goes well this week for your DH Yia everything crossed
Well done to Finn Jax 👏 and you in the meat draw too 👍
I’ll not prattle on about our holidays as so many kitcheners are facing such difficult times just now, but all is well 😎
Gentle hugs to all in the quiet corner ❤️

GrannyGravy13 Sun 19-Jan-25 21:34:05

Sending (((hugs))) to mrsoop

Watching the new Martin Clunes series in bed, I have taken a leaf out of FGT2’s book #lazygran today. I have done hardly anything (too much time on GN) and I am utterly exhausted 😴

Night Night 🙋‍♀️

GrandmaC47 Sun 19-Jan-25 21:50:21

Just popped in to send best wishes to MrSoop hoping he’s feeling more comfortable.

After three weeks DH’s swollen leg is slightly better, another three to six months of blood thinners will hopefully dissolve the clot.

Reading your posts does help take my mind off things.

Wishing everyone a peaceful and stress free night.

Grandmadinosaur Sun 19-Jan-25 21:58:25

Mrsoop that looks so very painful and sore. Poor man is really being out through it. I hope he will feel more comfortable soon. 💐

A good win there Jax it will taste all the better.

I’m following your Spanish escapade with envy brook I love that part of Spain.

Hoping your DH is feeling comfortable Sued

Ali23 Sun 19-Jan-25 22:19:22

Oh my goodness that looks so sore Mr Soop. I hope that the pain relief is helping. Sleep on, while it settles down.

Take care, the Soops 💐

Charleygirl5 Sun 19-Jan-25 23:26:50

I agree that Mr. Soop's thigh will be as painful as his head. I do hope the pain relievers are working, but at least he is at home and can stay in bed if he so wishes,

Each day here in London appears to be cold and foggy. I cannot remember when I did not have a light on all day.

NannyG4 Mon 20-Jan-25 10:05:27

Just popping in to say hello to you lovely ladies.

Mr. Soop , that looks so so sore, I hope the pain relievers help and Mrs Soop please take care of yourself, your precious
….love to you both💐.

Hope life for you all is as best as it can be under your circumstances.

The weather today here in Kent is dismissal. I’ve made myself get up and go for walk, it’s hard to be positive sometimes, I miss my DH so so much, feel so alone.

I will take a seat in the quiet corner and enjoy a cuppa.

Much love to you all…..💐❤️🙏

silverlining48 Mon 20-Jan-25 10:09:29

My dh had this done last summer.
It’s early days for mr Soop, he needs plenty of rest, it will take time but will heal and the main thing is the cancer has been removed. Mr Silver sends his greetings and good wishes to you both.

Naughtyneine Mon 20-Jan-25 14:35:09

Popping in to add my 'ouch' to all the others re Mr Soops poorly head. I know you have the very very best head nurse but please both of you rest at every available opportunity.

SueD....I really hope Mr SD is getting a bit stronger as the days go on. What a roller coaster you are on just now. Sending you a hug. ( It's hard being the supportive partner).
NannyG4....a hug for you... It's a dismal time of year let alone dealing with the pain of losing your beloved man. They say the hurt diminishes a little as time goes on...I hope that is the case for you and your memories make you smile a little more often as Spring comes round.

I can't stay long I am waiting for a call from the doctor and I suspect I'll be called to go to the medical centre. Oh joy
