What songs do you like?

Driving Home for Christmas ....... because it reminds of when DD2 lived away from home and on Christmas Eve she was "Driving Home for Christmas" smile

Favourite Carol....In the Bleak Mid Winter....absolutely LOVE the words although they make me feel emotional!

My favourite Christmas song has always been Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas followed by Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire, Driving Home for Christmas (as we always seemed to be back in the day), I Believe in Father Christmas. Carols? In the Bleak Midwinter (Darke, not Holst) and Bob Chillcot’s The Shepherd’s Carol - no music, just voices. So calm, and lovely words “Silence more lovely than music folded the hill”.

Once in Royal David's City, having been in the hospitals choir, many years ago, in York Minster, a chorister up in the eaves sang the first line. The beauty of that is with me every Christmas.
Any Christmas Carol
Gaudete,
Fairy Tale of New York(original)
Stop the Calvary.
Little Donkey
I wish it could be Christmas
Merry Christmas
Mistletoe and Wine.

Ahhh Freya5, Once in Royal David's City is also my favourite Christmas carol. We lived in Winchester for a while and listening to the Choristers in Winchester Cathedral sing this was just amazing.

The Power of Love - Frankie goes to Hollywood, not specifically a Christmas song, but released at Christmas so always is 'christmassy' to me.

Stop the Cavalry

Merry Christmas Everyone - upbeat and positive, although i am heartily fed up of hearing it by Christmas

Rudolf - Robbie Williams smile Currently teaching my 6 year old grandson the words smile

Fairytale of New York.

Lots really, depends on my mood whether i listen to carols or loud and noisy.

Just heard ‘Jesus Christ, The Apple Tree’ on Classic FM.

Beautiful and different.

A Spaceman Came Travelling is beautiful, vintage Chris De Burgh. Some of his songs are incredible, it is such a pity he is known for Lady in Red which is probably his worst song.

Stop the Cavalry is good too.

Not fond of any "traditional" carols, sick to death of them and not a Christian anyway.

O Holy Night is my special Christmas Carol.
My Dear Dad used to sing it every year at the Christmas Eve service in his beautiful tenor voice.
It brings back so many memories and always a tear to my eye.
It was on Songs of Praise this afternoon- not a patch on my Dads rendition but still beautiful words.

All the John Rutter Christmas songs.

Why is this not under "Christmas"?

Stop the Cavalry and Slade's Merry Christmas Every One, also Fairy Tale of New York.

My favourite carol is In the Bleak Midwinter.

Coventry Carol, love its medieval sound.
In the Bleak Midwinter, Holst.
The Virgin’s Slumber Song, Wiegenlied, Max Reger, just gorgeous.
