Is everyone OK filing in form before you can get into Nationwide accounts?

This form wants to know everything about yourself including how much your annual salary is!!

Evidently this is a government requirement.

I've several nationwide accounts and use the Nationwide app - never had any problems or needed to supply that information to access my accounts. I think I have sometimes been asked my income when applying for a new account - not just with Nationwide. I presume this is to do with money laundering requirements

The banks are all very concerned re money laundering.
Starling was fined over £40million, this was reduced to £29million, their checks were not robust enough.

I have just closed a Starling account and opened a Nationwide account, it was seamless.

I have N/W accounts. Never been asked to do this. Just checked into my current account no problems.

ginny Tue 10-Dec-24 16:06:17

I think you should contact your bank and check this out.

I haven’t been asked to do it either. I was quite surprised by the original post.

LilacRain Tue 10-Dec-24 16:25:02

I got asked to do this recently.
It's to stop money laundering. It asked for my job description and salary.

I have filled out the online questions, I rang them prior to check and it's legit . If it keeps my money safe then I'm all for it . It's frightening the scams we hear of

I have never been asked to do this for any of my Nationwide accounts.

I will find out tomorrow when I go in to take out a (relatively) large sum in cash.

I went into my branch for the first time in years a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to take out several hundred pounds, which was much more than I would normally moving. It was handed to me without a word - no problems at all.

I e been with Nationwide for years but had to fill in this form recently. I did question it, but it was legit.

I was asked to do this recently. I have my current a/c with them and have several savings accounts which I use for different purposes. I was asked to provide information re how much I expected to be paid into each separate account over the course of the next year.

Pammie1 Wed 11-Dec-24 12:30:02

I was asked to do this recently. I think it’s part of the new money laundering laws and banks have to comply.

I have a Nationwide Flex Direct Account. To open this account there is a minimum amount that will have to ne paid in each month, hence the salary check.
I have never had a problem with Nationwide.
The more checks the better in this day and age of scams.

keepingquiet Wed 11-Dec-24 13:00:28

I opened a Flexaccount too recently- don't recall the particular questions but very happy to have changed after over 50 years with my previous bank!

SarClaud2023 Wed 11-Dec-24 13:10:06

I too and my husband also had to fill out this info. But also in every bank I am involved with too.
I also questioned each bank. The general concenus was MONEY LAUNDERING.
I AM DISABLED AND UNABLE TO WALK, HARD OF HEARING AND REDUCED VISIBILITY it was extremely difficult.
But Nationwide helped me at the bank.

You shouldn’t have problems with Nationwide.
I have been with them now since the late 80s. I will only change if I have too despite the offer of money if one changes banks. They were SO helpful and supportive when I had a scam

tictacnana Wed 11-Dec-24 19:50:03

Many years ago my mortgage was with Nationwide. One of their team, unbeknown to them, started redirecting mortgage payments to her husband’s account . As far as I’n aware, she and hubby. policeman) were never caught. ( They skipped the country)Nationwide covered all the missing payments . Even so , a breakdown of trust. Probably couldn’t happen nowadays.

I don't even know where my nearest branch is now.
Thry keep moving further and further away.

Floradora9 Wed 11-Dec-24 22:01:15

People with certain accounts are to get another bonus from Nationwide next summer . They are well worth sticking with . As they did before if it is a joint account we both get it .

gentleshores Thu 12-Dec-24 13:51:10

I've had it recently on the Nationwide app. When logging in it kept asking me to complete it and I kept skipping it. Eventually it said you have to do it x date (quite soon). I found it totally intrusive - they basically seem to want to know how much money you earn and whether Nationwide is your main account. I don't use mine as much for savings now but like to keep it open, so I wonder if it's only people who don't use them regularly. I have a flex and e savings account to move things between them, but moved my savings elsewhere for a better interest rate.

jocork Thu 12-Dec-24 15:10:08

I've not seen it yet but this has reminded me I need to make a transfer to them so maybe I will get asked. At least I will know it's not aa scam.

harrigran Thu 12-Dec-24 16:03:24

I took all my money out of Nationwide, I found them to be the least customer friendly bank on the High street.

Allira Thu 12-Dec-24 17:24:16

I took all my money out of Nationwide, I found them to be the least customer friendly bank on the High street.

We only have one bank on the High Streeet.

I did see a van which was a touring bank in Tesco car park today 😯

Makes you feel like drawing your money out in dribs and drabs and hiding it at home.
