Nationwide

I just said can’t say. No comment was made and account was set up. Thought it was just more information they could sell on. Or else wanting to know what else they could offer you. Blooming cheek. Not keen on the Nationwide. Only save with them as no other building society left in our high street. They do business with you in a central row so anyone with good hearing can hear every word. No appointments can be made so sit and wait. Awhile ago I wanted to give my grandsons some money to help towards a deposit for their homes. I asked for two cheques made out in their names. I produced ID passport, etc etc We don’t need them the teller said. This was not the first time my ID had been refused.

I've found Nationwide to be a really good, helpful bank. Maybe that's more to do with my branch but I somehow doubt it. We were with Midland/HSBC (together and separately) for 40 years but when we got fed up with them and said we were leaving they shrugged their shoulders and said OK, not even interested in why. Nationwide did the transfer over seamlessly and extremely efficiently, not a single payment was missed or delayed. We have a flex plus account and needed to make a hefty claim on the travel insurance just 5 months after opening the account, there wasn't a second's hitch it went through without delay. I can't praise them enough.

I am amazed. My experience has been just the opposite.

I've been with Nationwide for over 20 years. I've found them very helpful, they've seen me through a few hard times, with support and kindness. So for me no other bank will do.certainly not the likes of Barclays etc.

Barclays were not very helpful and made mistakes on my account. When I complained the guy just said “would you like some flowers or £25 put in your account?” I chose the money.

Then I transferred just about all my money to Nationwide.

Barclays are awful.
