i thought that I had sent a first post of the morning very early on, but not sure what this thread is called. I just think if is Good Morning, so couldnt see anything so started another thread I think , by mistake. Please let me know what I should look for, I usually see Mikes post and follow that . Anyway A very happy Christmas to you all. It is bright, very still - not a branch moving on the tree - but looks very cold out. Havent ventured out at all yet. So I am on my own here today. Not expecting to see anyone, no plans to go anywhere or do anything, shall take things slowly, but be glad to restore things to their proper place, . Have my halfprice lamb for my dinner , which I shall enjoy. Of course radio 3 and 4 will be on non-stop, and later will enjoy "suck a thumb" tv of Call the Midwife and Downton Abbey. Started the morning very well as the first music on radio 3 was Benjamin Britten s Ceremony of Carols. I first sang that when I was about 6 or 7 at church and so besides loving the music, well sung, it has brought back many memories of people and places over 70 years.
Did anyone watch the lovely programme about Dave Myers - the Hairy Biker who sadly died this year. ? It was a most touching and moving programme, where they had a celebration of his life and many bikers went on a journey to Barrow in Furness, his home town. Si King and Dave's wife set it up I think . It was a programme of all that is good and caring. I never had the chance to meet the Hairy Bikers (which was a shame as you rarely get to meet lovely men who have great motor bikes and can cook!!) but they were always so genuine, showed you how to make some interesting dishes, in simple ways. We used to have a tent and go camping and also sailed, so I appreciate the efforts in trying to cook in a gale, or on uneven ground. They cooked and joked and enjoyed being with each other. So many bikers made the journey and people lined the road and over the bridges . This programme was not about greed and getting as much as possible for yourself, but about love and good friendship. They were not afraid to give each other a hug , and you could see their personal friendship over the years. Dave will be missed by us all, but I hope that the many people who wanted to be part of this occasion helped his wife and Si King to feel supported and to know that Dave will not be forgotten. God Bless them all on this special day.
