Mick here in the Midlands if we travel on the bus before 9.30am we can travel for £1.50 on showing our Pass.

Back to some normality today as it's Thursday walking group this morning. Then u3a monthly meeting this afternoon.

Hugs to Bellas and Kalu so frustrating for you both to not be able to be with your DD's. Hoping they recover well.

Hoping Marydoll is much better today.

Yesterday went by quickly. My aunt and uncle arrived for a late lunch of steak pie etc and left about five o'clock. It was lovely to see them and we will catch up with the whole family at the weekend before they head to Spain.
Today I will finish tidying up the kitchen and potter about. I've no need to go out and will stay inside, snug and cosy. I have some little cross stitch kits to do, if my cataract eyes will cope. Leftovers for dinner tonight. Have a good day all

Good morning from a frosty and dry Suffolk. I’m off to my stretch class shortly and then no more classes for 2 weeks as the village hall where the classes are held is closed for redecoration.

It’s good to get back into my normal routine and I hope those who are unwell can soon return to theirs whatever it is. Thinking of those and others worried about family members who are ill.

Good Morning from Durham. No snow here Harri, but it’s very cold and my lawn is crispy - I’ve been on it to feed the birds. The charming DGS2 appears to have shared his cold with me, but I won’t let it prevent me from meeting a friend for coffee, although I’ll warn her and understand if she cancels. Little Dog is here, so a walk in daylight later.
I hope post op recoveries continue on track and that our poorly GNs and their loved ones are improving, however slowly.

We have decided to go back to Essex today as the forecast for the next few days is icy, windy and very cold.
It’s lovely being here but we need to travel back in relatively good weather.

I will miss my book club on Friday evening but I’ve e mailed my thoughts on the book and offered a choice for this month.

Good morning Mick and everyone from dark, freezing Carlisle. It's -4°C! So glad I don't have to go out today, the car is well frosted up.

I did get out yesterday for a walk in the park. The poor widowed swan and her cygnets were still there but I was delighted to see she had been joined by several others. Two were certainly adult males...they were spending much of their time whizzing around with uplifted wings chasing off rivals. They seemed to have mates so maybe the widowed one remains single, we'll see. I hope the newcomers stay around.

As for the rest of yesterday, I had a long phone chat with my sister and a video call with DS2. And I nobly ran the vacuum around!
Today, back to normal, I shall load the washer, vacuum upstairs and then we'll see...I'm still looking at my new pile of books. I think I will declare a moratorium on book buying, to last several months. The same ought to apply to sweaters though I shan't resist a look at the sales in town.

We are going to visit my Sister in Law today, the first time since my brother died last week. We ha spoken on the phone several times. She is need img help with some paperwork and instructions for using mobile phone and laptop which she has never been very keen on before.

Good morning everyone from a very cold and frosty Northampton, -1° here. I don't have to go out anywhere today, so will stay in the warm. I have my personal radiator (one of the cats!) on my lap at the moment.

I too watched the Viennese concert yesterday, and marvelled at the age of the conductor, Riccardo Mutti - he is 83! I also watched the Nutcracker, an English National Ballet production,.which has been part of a series on Sky Arts. Spent the evening catching up on more programmes.

Have decided to take down the decorations and tree on Saturday, as I have nothing else planned that day.

Sainsbury's delivery late morning, and the dishwasher to empty, the stairs need vacuuming, and the bathroom floors to mop. Then to think of what I fancy for dinner.

Hope the poorlies find some relief today, and that all have a pleasant day.

Your poor DD Bellasnana. It seems we are both in the same difficult situation wishing we were both nearby to care for our DDs.

Thank you all for such lovely messages. I suffered a spinal fracture a few years ago so know how much DD will be suffering. She is a strong character with a positive outlook, she will get through this.

Yesterday we enjoyed the afternoon at my friends house, today I really must catch up on jobs and start some cleaning. I’ll take the decorations down as I go along

Up and about so I can ring the builder when they open at 9.00 am in the hope that someone will come soon to look at the kitchen leak. Need to shop too as not much fresh left and the forecast for tomorrow onwards isn’t very promising. The cold weather has already arrived but it’s fine and calm just now.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where I’ve have frost on the rooftops. Dry though. A morning of laundry and bit light dusting, shower hairwash but not starting any of that for at least a couple of hours! Newspapers, emailing friends first.

This afternoon I’m meeting a neighbour from 4 doors along the decking for coffee. Her husband died from cancer on Christmas Eve last year. She shares her time between here and Greece so I suggested a catch up whilst she’s back here. She’s only mid-60’s and although outwardly ‘fine’ she confided that she’s struggling, poor woman. Totally understandable.

Gingster I had a feeling you would come back here early, I know how much you dislike that bridge even in good weather.

Good morning from coastal West Sussex. Blue sky out there - what a lovely change.

My lovely neighbour came over for a drink and nibbles yesterday. She didn’t expect to see 2025 as she had a terminal lung cancer diagnosis last year. She has an air of wry amusement at having ‘outwitted’ the doctors - a reaction, I think, to feeling completely abandoned as they ‘can do nothing for her’. I am reading a book about a doctor who practised in the Scottish Borders in the late 19th/early 20th century. He regularly checks on sick and dying patients. A very different time but very hard in many ways.

I am very excited because I have just heard Melvyn Bragg say they will be talking about slime moulds at 9. We were shown one of these on a tree trunk on Brownsea Island a few years ago and I have looked out for one since then but they are hard to spot.

Hope all the poorly people have a better day.

Kalu, how awful for your daughter, especially as you yourself suffered similar trauma and you can't be there to support your daughter.
As one, who has cement holding her vertebrae together, after doing something similar one Christmas Day and going to work for sixth month undiagnosed, I know how awful the pain is. I wish her a very speedy recovery.💐

Good luck Madeleine. I once came back from Spain with severe cellulitis, my GP said I was lucky I hadn't developed sepsis, it was so severe. Now at the very first sign of it, I contact my G.P. No messing about.

As for Grammaretto, what a woman! She sent a video of her, home from hospital. You would never have known she had major surgery. I wish you a speedy recovery.
Bella, your poor DD must be in agony and so hard for you, being so far away from her.

Yesterday, I managed to get up for a hour to make Mr MD's traditional New Year steak pie. I felt guilty, he has been living off whatever he has found in the fridge or freezer and is not the best of cooks.
I literally threw it all together and fortunately there was a puff pastry in the fridge, surprisingly in date nothing much else was. Ironically, he said it was one of the nicest he had ever tasted. I then crawled back to bed and slept!

He has looked after me so well, usually he gets in a flap and isn't sure what to do. Both hips have been unbearably painful with my RA, so he keeps bringing hot water bottles to ease the pain. However, hot water water bottles, when you have a high temp, are not the best of ideas.🥵🤣

I feel slightly improved today, so will try to get up for a bit. DS wants to visit with BabyDoll, but I have sadly put him off. She is full on and thinks I am her pal, I am not that improved 😉 I do not have the energy, to cope with visitors.

So sorry to hear of the DDs who are ill and so far away, I hope you get to FaceTime them soon to set your minds at rest.

Bed changing today and I’ll gather up the decorations that are spread around the house ready to pack everything away tomorrow.
MrOops will be out so won’t be able to ‘help’ me. I have so many decorations from when I was little and they have only lasted so long because I wrap them so carefully, MrOops ideas of packing are to squish them in as few boxes as possible and hope for the best.
Anyway, I hope all the poorly Gransnetters and their children and Grandchildren start to improve and wish you all a good day.

A very late morning all from West Oxfordshire. The sky is blue and the frost is thick.

I have WI admin to do. We have a committee meeting next week so need to make sure all is in order.

OH will visit his bees. They were fine the other day but he is concerned the heavy wind may have caused damage to the trees near his hives. They are in a small copse on some farm land belonging to a friend. On his way home he can collect our monthly prescriptions from the Health Centre.

I am off to Australia next month so need to check if my e-visa is in date.
