I logged on today expecting a thread about the snowstorm, but didn't see one.

How are you all making out? Stuck at home for a few days, or do you have to go out?

It's a balmy 5 degrees celcius here on BC's north coast. We had a tiny bit of snow a few days ago, but it's all melted now.

No snow. Here in the south east is just lots of rain and dreary skies. I think most of the snow fell further north. Have friends who live in Lancashire where I originally come from and they report several cms of snow and drifting.

Hardly a snowstorm!

Allira Sun 05-Jan-25 21:18:50

It came, stayed for a while then melted away!

The temperature went up to about 11C this afternoon.

A snowstorm in a teacup!

It came, it saw, but it didn’t conquer😁
Just a light flurry that soon vanished in the rain.

Sleet turning to rain here. Pretty generally wet and miserable really.

I believe a snow storm is occurring in the US, affecting several states as far down as Florida.

In bed listening to pouring rain now.

Grannybags Sun 05-Jan-25 21:53:13

Just another soggy dull day here near Bristol

We were promised snow in Berkshire and I saw some had fallen at about 6am. All turned to rain by the time I got up.

Allira Sun 05-Jan-25 22:01:54

Oh, the BBC news gives another amber weather warning for snow in the north.

Grammaretto Sun 05-Jan-25 22:04:41

We've had some snow and it's very cold, south of Edinburgh but I haven't been outside.

No snow on the south coast but I’m really sick of the rain and high winds.

PaperMonster2 Sun 05-Jan-25 22:16:13

Heavy snow where I am. Went for a lovely walk in it earlier!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 05-Jan-25 22:22:55

We had an amber warning today …. 😁
Cold out but calm.

We’ve had a thick laying of snow, but now it is raining, so hopefully it will wash it away. Not everywhere in the UK has had “just a light flurry”, but we’re hoping it will soon be gone, though the forecast here is still suggesting we could have more snow. I do hope it’s wrong, I hate the stuff.

Mollygo Sun 05-Jan-25 22:35:52

We had snow. The children rushed out to make snowmen. They lasted longer than the snow did. The snow simply melted then and froze into patches It made walking the dog very risky if you’re worried about falling.

Well it’s pouring rain here at the moment. After an unpleasant 39C yesterday it is quite welcome, all the plants were looking half dead.

Maggiemaybe Sun 05-Jan-25 23:11:15

We certainly did have a snowstorm overnight (West Yorkshire). We woke up to a heavy covering, and it’s not gone yet. We’ve been sent lots of photos of the grandsons making massive snowmen and even igloos, and having snowball fights in the park. It was snowing again an hour ago, but after two full weeks of being at home I think the parents are all praying for schools to be open tomorrow!

Not in the UK but not too much snow - only about 5-6 inches but it is a bit chilly - minus 19.5C last night.

Higher up the dales, more snow than here. Here we have had a covering of snow, some flooding and roads closed and the temperature must have been low as the snow did not melt at all. I am used to bad weather and know what things I need to keep in etc, so today have not stepped outside , but have worn warm clothes with another sleveless jacket , padded over my heavy cardigan and trousers etc. So have kept reasonably warm, and not put the heating on, as I do not have the winter fuel allowance now. I do a couple of different jobs , at the same time, so something standing up and something else sitting down. So I have managed to do a little sorting out, collected more bags of recycling things, been pleased to find my prescription which had slipped down behind a chair, so have got quite a few bits sorted, but tomorrow had planned to meet a friend , which might have to be put off , but have a doctors appt which I must go to, as it is important, so hoping the weather isnt too bad by then Meetings and schools are cancelled for tomorrow so will have to see what the day brings and stay in .

Just put my head out the back door for the first time today and can confirm that we have had no fresh snow over the last two days. I'm in the north of Scotland and can see a covering on the hills. Our bus sevices have been runing as normal over the last few days but I don't think for one moment that winter is over!!!!!

PS: Forgot to mention it has been -3 all day which explains why I haven't been over the door all day!

I was surprised no posts about snow here Merseyside have a thick blanket of snow and so did my family. In Cheshire and Lancashire it’s very quiet everyone is either making snowmen or staying indoors.
