While hiding from the storm yesterday, I opened a packet of Lu Le Petit Beurre biscuits. They were delicious, so much so that I seem to have eaten the whole packet.
Do you have anything you would like to recommend? It may be a foodstuff or product you have tried, or perhaps a household ‘handy hint’.

Great idea for a thread. Off for a ponder.

I love Tescos truffle butter. Very small amount but ah! The flavour!!!

I have discovered that McLellan's cheese spread makes a delicious dipping sauce, when melted in the microwave and eaten with breadsticks. I would never have dreamt of eating cheese spread, only the real stuff for me.

Another discovery is drinking a Baillies, whilst eating a ROLO.🤣

Ooh I’ll have to try the rolo and Bailey thing 😂😂😂

I couldn't remember how to spell Bailey's and couldn't be bothered to look in the fridge to check!
Trust me, Baileys, ice, a crystal whisky glass and a Rolo. Pure heaven!

Well it is made in Scotland from local cows in beautiful Dumfries and Galloway.
So it is the real stuff.

I do know that, but cheese spread evokes memories of Dairylea triangles (YUK!).
I usually eat Galloway vintage cheddar or (dont tell anyone,) Cornish cheddar.

😂😂 I have discovered Mackies Salted Caramel Ice Cream - much to my cost!!lbs not £££! I used to ridicule people who could eat whole or half tubs of ice cream!! Not any more!!

Ooh, I do like a Borders biscuit - especially the dark chocolate gingers.

Tunnocks chocolate marshmallows.
Can get through several in one sitting.

nanasam Sat 25-Jan-25 13:42:34

Blue Toblerone - crispy nutty bits inside. Don't know why, but it's really difficult to find.

Georgesgran Sat 25-Jan-25 14:14:41

I was addicted to Tunnocks Caramel Wafers, but I’ve deflected to the Aldi copy.
It’s not the price, it’s the consistent quality, as each Aldi biscuit is sealed. The ‘genuine’ ones are just wrapped and I’ve found the quality depends on where I bought them - anything from very crisp to others like wet cardboard. I’m sure they’re fine leaving the factory, but storage etc takes its toll.

Nairn's Marmite aand cheese oatcakes. They come in a box wrapped in packs of 5. A friend introduced me to them last autumn. They are now a staple nibble, when I want one.

Yes I get Aldi’s copy of Tunnocks wafers but find their chocolate marshmallows cannot be copied, is something about the consistency.

Has to be The Collective Yoghurt, divine and active.
OK, not new but now my Grandchildren simply call it Nannys Yoghurt and when here it disappears at a rate of knots !

Hi Monica. Are the Marmite oatcakes in Waitrose or Sainsbury, please? I quite fancy some of those . smile

Oh, I adore those, but then I'm a sucker for anything with Marmite in it, and Marmite and cheese is a marriage made in heaven.

The best biscuits in the world…Borders dark chocolate gingers.
And dessert…a quality dairy vanilla ice cream with a good slosh of blackcurrant liqueur over. Alternatively, affogato…a couple of scoops of vanilla ice cream with a hot espresso poured over.
These are what come immediately to mind, rather than anything healthy or useful!

HelterSkelter1 Sat 25-Jan-25 15:30:36

Mackies vanilla ice cream. I used to get the organic one which was just so nice, but can no longer find it. Best ice cream. I think they make it for Waitrose. But I may be wrong.
