Do you have one? If so, what is it that you like about it?

I have a sample box of perfume from Saltworks. It's clever marketing, but the idea is that you buy sample boxes at varying prices. Each box comes with little vials of scent - ten per box, plus a voucher with a value that depends on how much you paid for the samples - the more you pay, the higher the discount. You try them out and decide which you prefer, and then trade in your voucher for ether a full bottle of your favourite, or a few travel sizes. They make good gifts if you don't know what the recipient would like, and there is a booklet with notes about each of the scents - a bit like wine tasting cards grin.

I'm working through the scents now to see which one to order, and it's got me thinking of favourites over the years. I loved Chanel 19 for a long time, and Jo Malone's Pomegranate Noir, but tried a few different ones that I got as presents or in duty free shops.

I liked the freshness of the 19 when I was younger, and the deeper, woodier notes of the PN later on. I've always liked patchouli/musky/vanilla scents, and am veering towards those with those notes in my sample box.

What about you? Do you stick to a particular scent, or chop and change as you find new ones?

Duende is one of those fragrances which doesn't last on me post menopause. It's by Jesus Del Pozo
and is melony lime with a sort of sandalwood and wormwood. Its Spanish.

Another Anais Anais fan here. Have used it for many years. Used to alternate it with the likes of Youth Dew, Estee, Ysatis, White Linen etc. Nowadays I’m very sensitive to any smells- household cleaners, deodorants, candles and even my old favourites make me headachey and nauseous. Fortunately I can still wear AA. Although I dont wear it as often as i would like because the grandog appears allergic to it 🙄

Coco Chanel … I save my Boots points for it!!

One of my favourites at the moment is La Vie Et Belle. I do have a small bottle of Jo Malone Sweet Pea and Pear which I use if I'm going somewhere special, as it's so expensive. As a youngster, my go to was Aqua Manda. My gran never had any money for perfume, but when anyone bought her some it would only be Californian Poppy.

I love perfume, mostly given as presents.I love Flowerbomb,Obsession, but the best was Vengeance Extreme by Juliette has a gun. I think that last perfume is discontinued now, which is a pity ,it seems lots of perfumes suffer this fate nowadays.

I've stuck with L'ancome Tresor for many years. I was reading a magazine article about what men thought of various perfumes (I was in the hairdressers) and several of the men said Tresor made them want to hug the person wearing it. I bought it straight away! 😚 I haven't had many (any?) spontaneous hugs but a man in the petrol station queue asked me what it was, as he wanted to get it for his wife! Even my grandkids like it. "Nana always smells nice!" 😍😍😍

I’ve loved and worn Gucci Rush for more years than I can remember - still love it.
Strangers tell me the scent is divine and my family associate the perfume with me ❤️

The new Victoria Beckham in yellow bottle is amazing

My go to perfume is Chanel No5, it was my DM favourite so it reminds me of her. I used wear L’air du temps when I was a teenager, as my Gran said I was too young for Chanel. My DH, keeps me well stocked on Chanel, he has bought me several of their exclusive range and I love Chanel Beige and 1957. I have tried others over the years Guerlain, Dior and Tom Ford, but always came out in a rash.

The one scent I can’t stand is Estée Lauder Youth Dew, a partner in the accountancy firm I worked at used to drown herself in it. I always came out of office wheezing like an old woman and I was 17 at the time.

I love gucci fragrances however they discontinue them often and I have to search again angry

Miss Dior Original, been using it for decades.

Angel by thierry mugler - love it!
Cheaper to get it refilled at the fragrance store or john lewis.

granjan66 Mon 27-Jan-25 14:40:12

Eden by Cacherel

SueEH Mon 27-Jan-25 14:49:47

I don’t feel dressed without perfume (and earrings) and always have at least two out of:-
Chanel No 5
Amarige - Givenchy
Paris - YSL (has to be the original)
Rive Gauche - YSL
There are a few others I like.. one of the Carolina Herrera ones and Hermes Twilly ginger but saving up for those.

Wow, Aqua Manda perfume I just loved it!

Avon Far Away is lovely.

In my teens wore Coty Wild Musk Oil in a little brown almost medical type bottle with dipper inside, it was fab!

Hated Opium, Poison, so heavy and sickly smells to me, gave me a headache.

Stansgran Mon 27-Jan-25 15:11:04

I love 24 Faubourg but they stopped making it a while ago . I’ve noticed it’s come back on the market so I was hoping for some at Xmas but the stocking was not holding any although I knew DH had had a delivery from France as I took it in. ( I got a scarf so all was not lost)

Anneeba Mon 27-Jan-25 15:16:55

First perfume was a solid stick one from Avon called Honeysuckle, it was very sweet and I thought it divine at age nine. Then I wore Panache for years, moved on to Miss Dior, but for decades now I've been wearing Diorissimo. I can't find the Eau de Parfum anymore, only the less long lasting Eau de Toilette. I have to not wear it every so often or I find I can't smell it at all myself 🤣

GrammaH Mon 27-Jan-25 15:32:25

I used to absolutely love Jo Malone Lime, Basil & Mandarin but now I'm crazy about her Honeysuckle & Davana. It's so beautiful & I've never had a perfume admired so much . I also wear Estee Lauder's Modern Muse. I remember DH giving me a bottle when it first came out. Its lovely

Moggycuddler Mon 27-Jan-25 15:32:45

I like the scents but they irritate my nose and eyes, so I don't wear perfumes.

sharon103 Mon 27-Jan-25 15:38:43

In the 70's I wore Tweed for a while. Then I found in Boots store Ambergris by Alyssa Ashley in 1975 and wore this on my wedding day. I've still got the empty spray tin.
That was my absolute favourite.
There was another one by Alyssa Ashley out at the same time and that was Musk. I bought that as well.
I had Anais Anais for a while.
For the last few years I've worn The Body Shop White Musk.
Not quite the same though now as it's vegan.
In my bathroom I have and keep renewing diffusers with Patchouli and Amber fragrance. Gorgeous,
