As I closed the last kitchen I feel I should open a new one as I think that Soop is in a predicament with the weather.
So on her behalf I welcome you all to visit and enjoy our new space.

Please feel free to bring your sorrows and worries as well as your joys and happy times.
There is always someone to congratulate and to commiserate.

A newish year and a very new kitchen, a meeting place for all.

‘Evening All’.

By ‘eck, it’s still bitingly cold out isn’t it?

We’ve just come home after a very enjoyable Sunday dinner with my stepfather who looked very smart in the tie of his family tartan. He was good company as always. Kind and asking about the family.

He gets his ‘Sunday Post’ newspaper and apparently these days he is the only customer who requests it from his newsagent. He was happy to tell us Ross County beat Motherwell in the ⚽️ yesterday. He always phones his 99 year old brother on a Sunday evening when they chat about their week. They’ve done this for 40 years without fail. What a routine eh?

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 16-Feb-25 18:24:41

p.s. Yes Yia thank you for your good wishes, tomorrow is indeed scan day.

When we were driving home along a quiet road, a completely black cat strolled in front of our car. We both said “Hope that’s lucky”. 🤞

Jaxjacky Sun 16-Feb-25 18:42:58

He’s a fine looking man FGT holds himself well. Yes it’s flipping cold, I went to Asda to collect new specs (varifocal, transitions £120 bargain) car said 3, it went bing with an ice warning!
MrJ won 2 legoland tickets in another draw after the meat draw in our local, they will be donated locally.
So, a productive day, now settled in for the evening, I hope whatever you’re doing it’s a gentle one x

Nannytopsy Sun 16-Feb-25 19:06:14

We just have to hang on until the end of the week for some warmer weather. We can do this girls!!

GrandmaC47 Sun 16-Feb-25 19:07:10

FGT, we always had the Sunday Post at home when I was young. I never knew why as we live in Co Durham., but I loved it.
Best wishes for tomorrow from me too.

Grandmabatty Sun 16-Feb-25 19:37:35

The Sunday Post was a regular in my grans house when I was growing up. That, and The Weekly News which really didn't have any news in it! FGT a very smart gentleman.
Steak pie, mash, swede and cabbage for dinner, followed by a couple of macarons from Aldi. I am very tired today as I had a poor night's sleep. I foolishly drank coffee in the cinema at seven last night. Big mistake! Anyway have a good evening Kitcheners.

Redcar Sun 16-Feb-25 20:03:22

fgt I hope all goes well tomorrow.
gmb fingers crossed for a better night’s sleep for you tonight. Strangely, if I can’t sleep, a small mug of decaf coffee sends me off very quickly!
yiayia I hope your DGS has a good time on the ski slopes.
I went for walk this morning, using both crutches because the path round the recreation ground was very muddy after yesterday’s football.
Both DDs and their families came for a short visit this afternoon, good to see them all. Some of their old games came out of the cupboard, pleased I kept them. I’m sure there are more in the loft but I can’t get up there any more!
Have a peaceful evening everyone, keep warm!

Georgesgran Sun 16-Feb-25 20:09:27

Same here GrandmaC47. Weird, as we had no Scottish connection whatsoever.

Fingers crossed FGT

Hello kitchen people.

I spent a while sorting out what I’m taking to Australia. The suitcase should be a lot lighter as I will be taking mainly summer clothes,

I popped into a local Pharmacy. I’m afraid the Pharmacist was useless. He looked about 12 and had no advice about my bitten tongue beyond being careful and seeing my GP if it got worse. I mentioned mouth wash and he said only if I wanted to. Other Pharmacists in the same Boots have been excellent. Perhaps this guy was the only person they could find for a Sunday.

Have a good evening.

I’ll be thinking of you both tomorrow FGT.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 16-Feb-25 21:43:33

No peace of mind tonight. I thought I’d read my Kindle for a bit. Then this part jumped out.
Unsettled me that’s for sure.

"‘I can’t imagine life without him. It’s stomach cancer, with secondaries in the lungs and liver. There’s no hope. I thought we’d have more time together.’" (from "Strange Sally Diamond: Crime Novel of the Year, Irish Book Awards 2023" by "Liz Nugent").

Ye gods.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 16-Feb-25 21:44:16

I’m off to bed.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 16-Feb-25 22:39:08

Oh dear FGT! That’s just awful. Read some Jane Austen.

Charleygirl5 Sun 16-Feb-25 22:55:01

Baggs my heart goes out to you. Not an easy time for you.

Another perishingly cold day- at least there is no snow here---yet.

I think I'll take a shower and then go to bed. I slumbered after my supper this evening, and having done zilch, I can't see myself sleeping well.

Hellogirl1 Sun 16-Feb-25 23:09:10

Baggs, muchrespect and loads of hugs for you. I`m still struggling through the first 3 months.

Naughtyneine Mon 17-Feb-25 00:17:20

FGT....sending a cwtch...and prayers ( I'm never sure who appreciates them but it's all I can do) for tomorrow.

brook2704 Mon 17-Feb-25 07:05:23

Lovely picture FGT, hope today goes well x

Grandmadinosaur Mon 17-Feb-25 07:32:07

Best wishes to all. We are off up and away for a few days with our family. Bring on the sun 🌞

Usedtobeblonde Mon 17-Feb-25 10:23:07

Good morning all.
Best wishes to all carers and carees today.
I have a cold, not just a cold but an M&S cold, my GD didn’t understand that.
I haven’t had one for many years and it has laid me very low.
I don’t know if it is because I haven’t had one, it is a bad virus doing the rounds or just my age but I have been really hit by it.
Feverish for the first three days and now just bunged up with a very bad head and “ the cough”.

My GS has been this weekend and has done some electrical work for me.
New under cupboard lights in the kitchen, new sockets, put a ceiling light in the new room and replaced a faulty landing light.

While he was working he told me to check my Facebook page.
His partner had announced she is pregnant again!!
Their baby daughter is 13 months old, she is an absolute delight but two in 18 months will be hard work.
They also have my two youngest GS’s living with them, long difficult situation p, I don’t know the repercussions yet but I expect it will be sorted in the fullness of time.
The boys are with us at the moment as it is half term.
I never expected life would be so complicated when my H died and I was on my own.
It is certainly never dull.

Very cold here 1 degree but as I shall be indoors I am comfy cozy.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 17-Feb-25 11:41:28

Hello kitchen people.

Well, I’ve nearly finished packing but I can’t check in until 9 pm. My cleaner is cleaning and my gardener is gardening! OH is doing the Waitrose shop today - it’s for him! I will just sit around and read the news, difficult though it issad

We’re all thinking of the FGTs.

Grandmabatty Mon 17-Feb-25 11:42:49
