As I closed the last kitchen I feel I should open a new one as I think that Soop is in a predicament with the weather.
So on her behalf I welcome you all to visit and enjoy our new space.

Please feel free to bring your sorrows and worries as well as your joys and happy times.
There is always someone to congratulate and to commiserate.

A newish year and a very new kitchen, a meeting place for all.

A quiet day at Gravy Grange, nothing to report, just popping in to say night night 🙋‍♀️

Grannmarie Thu 27-Feb-25 19:04:19

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. A cold and frosty start here, minus 3 followed by bright blue skies and lots of sunshine. ☀

My sister in law and I had a super afternoon meeting up with her cousins. They have been going through their late Mum's photo collection, and gave me a photo of DH'S dad in uniform, from 1948, during his National Service. He was 19 and looks incredibly like our DS3! Family faces go down through history...

Sorry you had a wasted journey, Hellogirl. I hope things improve for you very soon. 💐

Happy hair dos, brook and Jaxjacky! 💇 💇 I had a wash and blow dry yesterday, booked in for cut n colour in a fortnight.

Enjoy your time in your special place, FGTs.

Great news about your DH, YiaYia. Don't beat yourself up about your teeth, you've had a lot to contend with over the past year. 💐

You are doing really well with your mobility, Redcar, good for you.

Grannygravy, glad to hear that your poor knee is improving, you just need time to heal.

Sounds like you enjoyed Southwold, Nannytopsy, a pub lunch is always welcome on a cold day.

Enjoy your time in Sydney, Ladyleftfieldlover!

Wishing everyone a peaceful Thursday evening and a good night's sleep. Fingers crossed for clear skies for all the planet watchers. ✨

Jaxjacky Thu 27-Feb-25 18:41:09

Oh Hellogirl that’s flipping awful, sorry that’s happened to you.
Great news for you 👏👏 Yia not your tooth though, my teeth are the bane of my life.
Sunny day, chilly now though, the weekend weather looks the same, we’ll be beach combing, crabbing, playing board games, eating and drinking. Gloves and coat will be in the car, I wish it was only a jacket FGT!!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 27-Feb-25 18:17:15

‘Evening All’.

We’ve had a wonderful first day here in Málaga. Wall to wall sunshine and a wander around Arroyo. Just up home now (7pm) it’s nippy now the sun’s dipped. I was glad of my jacket!
Ate out so just feet up and kindles now, Radio Málaga on in the background.

Hellogirl1 Thu 27-Feb-25 17:36:55

Thank you for the good wishes, they`re appreciated.
This morning I had an appointment at the hospital. After struggling to find a parking space, my daughter was convinced we were going to be late, but were actually 5 minutes early. We then sat in the waiting room for just over an hour before being seen, only to find that the appointment was a mistake on their part. It was to do with my last but one hospital stay, but was overlooked last year.

Yiayia4 Thu 27-Feb-25 17:03:46

Sorry your not feeling great Hellogirl🌻
Hope your ear gets better Jax you need to be well for your special weekend.
Some very good news today,DH had his scan results and all good.Still to have blood tests but hopefully will be O.K.

I’m feeling sorry for myself today.I have an abscess under a root canal filling. It will probably need to come out but have antibiotics for now.My own fault, I have neglected my teeth this past year so has taught me a lesson.

Take care everyone have a good evening.

Jaxjacky Wed 26-Feb-25 21:34:35

The lovely pharmacist who cleared my ears, when I said it still feels muffled explained I have sinusitis on that side, to go back if it doesn’t clear, that would explain why I sound like Malcolm in the old Vicks sinex adverts!
I’m sorry to hear that Hellogirl may your days brighten soon

Hellogirl1 Wed 26-Feb-25 21:25:42

Thankyou Redcar x

Redcar Wed 26-Feb-25 20:07:36

soop, pleased you managed to find a cafe open eventually! Nice to be taken out for a “jolly”.
gg13 when I look after two of my granddaughters after school (or after school club) they have numerous snacks first and then still want tea/dinner at 6 o’clock. Hollow legs! I’m sure your knee will improve soon and the scars will fade!
hellogirl sorry you’re not feeling too well at the moment. Look after yourself, sending gentle hugs.
I walked to the pharmacy for my meds this morning, it started raining just as I got home. It was such a foul morning I just did a bit of admin, and sorted out some paperwork that had been cluttering up the coffee table. I know it’s tidier, but it’s not noticeable to anyone else!
I’ve been looking for the planets that are supposed to be visible, it’s clear here now, but I can still only see Venus! It’s immediately opposite my bedroom window, but I can’t see the horizon, which is apparently where some of the others are lurking!
Have a peaceful evening everyone.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 26-Feb-25 20:07:03

I am so pleased to hear that the FGTs are jetting off to their Spanish home!

GrannyGravy13 Wed 26-Feb-25 18:54:58

We have the 10yr old here for his sleepover, he has decided now that he is double digits he will have dinner with us (7.30pm)
This meant he had tea when he came home from school 😹

Knee is improving, not a pretty sight though.

I hope the FGT2’s are nearly at there happy place 🙋‍♀️

Hellogirl1 Wed 26-Feb-25 18:44:15

Soop, have you tried Big Jessie`s at the Tayinloan ferry terminal?
It`s only a small cafe, but very friendly, with nice views of the ferries coming and going.
I`m not feeling too perky just lately, but there are a lot of people on here, or their families, a lot worse off than me, so, TOYA every day, even though I don`t post very often.

brook2704 Wed 26-Feb-25 18:39:56

Good afternoon kitchen pals, I’m just in from the hairdressers, a colour and a trim so feeling so much better now. My hairdressers the opposite Jax and cuts very little off my hair, sometimes she could do more but I don’t say. It’s been a busy day, a volunteering session first thing and then the gym before the hairdressers so I’m pleased to be back home
Hoping FGT is now safely in Malaga with some warm sunshine
Pleased you had an afternoon out soop, it does the world of good, you too nannytopsy, even though it was cold!
Good progress GG13 👍
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, hoping all are ok x

soop Wed 26-Feb-25 16:06:30

FriedGreenTomatoes2 May you and your dear husband enjoy every moment of your Spanish holiday. Us lot are with you in heart and spirit. flowers sunshine

GrannyGravy Continue to be gentle with yourself. You are coping admirably. I shall sit with you in the quiet corner. No words are necessary. Companionship is what matters.

SueD I was delighted to see that you had visited the Kitchen. My husband also continues to "trundle along". He is having his dressing changed and the second skin graft on his scalp will be photographed for the surgeon to view. It is a very slow healing process.

Our neighbor took me out for a jolly yesterday afternoon. We set off to have lunch only to discover that the restaurant was closed. She then opted to drive us a number of miles to another eatery...it too was closed. We motored on, in good spirits to discover that yet another restaurant was closed. Okay, we thought, let us backtrack and try a cafe that she knew would be open. We enjoyed delicious fish and chips. Next door was a shop selling secondhand stuff ranging from a bicycle to all manner of unusual collectibles. My friend and I spent a few pounds on items that took our fancy. We laughed a lot. I returned home with a smile on my face. Mr Soop agreed that we should enjoy more jollies in future. The restaurants will reverting to Summertime opening hours this coming weekend.

I am wishing you all peace of mind. smile moon

Nannytopsy Wed 26-Feb-25 15:48:20

We have just been to Southwold, supposedly to birdwatch but my was it cold! And wet!
We did have a very good view of a marsh harrier, low and very close to the pub car park as we went in for lunch!

Jaxjacky Wed 26-Feb-25 12:14:07

Hi all, SueD I do hope your husband returns to form, you’ve a lot on your plate at the moment and whilst difficult, try and grab yourselves a few minutes now and then.
FGT you’ll be ready for the off now, have a wonderful time in Spain where you can breathe again with some cheerier news ringing in your ears.
I’m so pleased your injured knee is progressing GG13 and you’ve got some gentle exercises to get on with, I understand your frustration.
Hair trim yesterday was slightly more enthusiastic than I expected, but with thick hair that grows quickly it’ll be fine.
A new to me book club this afternoon, I’ll sit quietly and observe the dynamics before chirping up.
At 4pm ear micro suction - again - this is becoming a 6 monthly expensive nuisance, still, in the great scheme it’s minor.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 25-Feb-25 21:55:43

Safe travels FGT2 enjoy your happy place, make sure you leave the beach clean for me 😘🏖️

All my dressings, stitches and surgical strips are off my knee. I can now start bending it gently along with stretching.

The fracture is a tad problematic, but hey ho cannot complain one leg is definitely on the mend, the other will follow soon.

Take care kitchen friends, I am retreating to the quiet corner 🙋‍♀️

GrandmaC47 Tue 25-Feb-25 21:29:27

Have a glorious time in your happy place, Mr&MrsFGT.
(send us some ☀️ please)

Grannmarie Tue 25-Feb-25 21:19:20

Hello 👋 FGT and DH. That phone call will have given you some peace of mind so you can enjoy your time in your happy place, the perfect antidote to recent anxieties. Bon Voyage! ✈️🌞

‘Evening All’

From a happier bunny tonight as Himself received a call from Christie’s research nurse this morning. Apparently Professor Mansoor suggests do nothing yet. Too soon. He reviewed the scan result personally at the end of the out patient clinic.

He advised the senior research nurse to wait until the next scan result in 6 weeks’ time and at that stage make a decision. Next appointment now not till 8th April.

So … Feeling happier as you can all imagine dear Kitcheners!

I’ve had a mani/pedi this afternoon and I’m more relaxed tonight. Very much looking forward to setting off to the airport at 1pm by taxi tomorrow. Manchester airport is only 10 miles away so it’s a 15 minute journey tops. Lucky us.

I won’t post tomorrow night, we plan to be eating tapas in Pedro’s corner bar outside the apartment. Dump the cabin bag at 8pm and find that glass of Ribera wine 🍷 with my name on it!

Till Thursday dear friends. And it goes without saying how much your kindness and empathy has touched me. xx

brook2704 Tue 25-Feb-25 17:38:33

So lovely to hear from you SueD and catch up on your news. Hoping your DH continues making progress and showing improvement, it must be so difficult for you both. Good idea to get outside if you can and enjoy any sunshine on offer
Yia well done to both your DGSs, a tough day
Enjoy the lunch grannmarie, it’s lovely that they’re wanting to keep in touch
It’s been a busy day here, lots of family things going on but I did manage a quick trip to the gym and a coffee with my pal
Good to hear you’re both off to your happy place FGT enjoy every minute! ❤️
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, hoping all are doing ok and sending a gentle hug x

Grannmarie Tue 25-Feb-25 16:20:25

Good afternoon, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. Hope you and MrSoop are doing OK and can enjoy your beautiful view and a wee bit sunshine ☀.

A bright and breezy day here, I've been tidying tubs in the garden, the roofers finally turned up and put my chimney top ( granny) back in place. They checked the roof, all is well. 👍

Good to see you, SueD, best wishes to you and yours.

A sad day for the family, YiaYia, such a long wait too. Well done to your DGC.

DH's sister and I have been invited to lunch later this week by her cousins, the daughters of their late auntie. They want to keep in touch and say they appreciated our visits to their dear Mum. We haven't seen them since the funeral so it will be nice to catch up.

FGT,😎😎✈️ 🇪🇸 🍷🍷have a wonderful time in your happy place, it will do you both a power of good.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Tuesday. Thinking of all in the quiet corner. TOYA.

Yiayia4 Tue 25-Feb-25 15:38:35

Nice to hear from you SDonim, soon be spring and that’s always a plus.🪻🪻

FGT Have the best time in Spain lots of sunshine, nice food and wine.

Yesterday was very sad as it was the funeral of DiL’s dear father. We had our 2 dgs sitting with us.It was hard for them both saying goodbye to a beloved grandad but at 15 and 18 years old they were very brave and got through it well.

Love and healing thoughts to the Soops

SueDonim Tue 25-Feb-25 14:28:35

Just wanted to send some ❤️ to FGT and dh. I’m sorry it wasn’t the best news though it sounds as though there are still options to be considered. Xxx

I have been awol from here for so long. I dip into GN now and then and leave an occasional comment on sundry threads but I cannot get my head together enough to update properly in the Kitchen. A quick summing up for now is that dh is trundling along, improved but not really back to himself. I don’t know if he ever will be.

The two Down South kids have been up for the weekend which was lovely. Dd2 has begun her new placement in a GP surgery. The stories would make your hair stand on end! We’re trying to sort out the house (how can it have got into such a muddle when we’ve only been here less than three years??) and our paperwork. Also trying to sort my mum’s situation. Shes in the care home and I don’t think she’s going to be able to return to her house.

On the blessings side, my GC continue to cheer me up, and flowers are appearing in the garden, daffs, iris, polyanthus and primroses so far. The weather has improved, too, and the sun is trying to shine right now. Might go to the garden centre for a coffee and browse their offerings.

TOYA. Xxx

FGT... Not exactly what you both wanted to hear but still positives ..can you be put in contact with someone else who is on the trial maybe so you can find out exactly what is involved? As always thoughts and prayers are with you both. ♥️
