As I closed the last kitchen I feel I should open a new one as I think that Soop is in a predicament with the weather.
So on her behalf I welcome you all to visit and enjoy our new space.

Please feel free to bring your sorrows and worries as well as your joys and happy times.
There is always someone to congratulate and to commiserate.

A newish year and a very new kitchen, a meeting place for all.

It's a lovely sunny and warm day here in London. It's not warm enough for me to go out wearing a T-shirt, but a few did. I do have the heating on now.

So much sadness here at present.

I do miss the photos, will they ever return?

‘Evening All’.

(Dixon muscling back in, because he can).
We’re back up from a delightful evening on the marina for drinks and food.
I’m SO grateful that Himself was up for it.
Yesterday has me concerned.
Home tomorrow, we will be putting the kettle on in Urmston around 2pm. Very civilised!

Safe journey back FGT2! I leave Sydney today but won’t be back home until Saturday morning! Such a long way.

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 06-Mar-25 20:34:58

Just a few photos from Australia

Safe and straightforward journeys back llfl and FGT

Safe journeys to our travellers 🛬

Redcar Thu 06-Mar-25 21:55:59

Safe and trouble free journeys to fgt and llfl Good photos llfl. Rather more exotic wildlife than I have in my garden! I didn’t start on the lawn edges today, cut back some more shrubs instead and speared my arm on a twig I’d just cut!
It was 18 degrees in the garden this afternoon, about 10 now, but the heating hasn’t come on this evening!
Night night everyone.

‘Evening All’.

In a very quiet kitchen. I feel I can hear the clock ticking. I’m the first in today at this time? Most unusual.

We are home. Kettle was on at 2:15pm. A packed Ryanair flight and an extremely busy Málaga airport. 🤷‍♀️

Himself has gone to watch the Boy Wonder at his ⚽️ training. He loves that boy so much. He will be home in ten minutes then we are popping into our neighbours next but two, just along the decking for drinks. A nice way to end our holiday! Chin, chin. 🍷

Nannytopsy Fri 07-Mar-25 18:10:45

Glad you are happily home FGT

Yiayia4 Fri 07-Mar-25 18:14:52

Safe journeys all travelling today.

Not having a good couple of weeks so now I’m having an arthritis flare up.Luckily due to see my rheumatologist in a couple of weeks.☹️DH now has a blue badge same as me!!Who would have thought, got to smile or I’ll cry.

Sorry very negative post tonight.
Have a good evening everyone.

Hi kitchen pals, just sitting down with a cuppa now after a busy day, my very kind DH is in the kitchen getting dinner ready. I did a bit of tidying at DD2s this morning, then a dance class at the gym, then Starbucks with my pal and finally a trip to Tesco for the weekend food shop. I’ll be settling down on the sofa for the rest of the day so hope I can find something to watch on the TV

What a brilliant cake Jax who made that? It’s so good and the veg look so real - or were they real it’s hard to tell !!

Pleased you’re home now fgt and enjoy your evening

Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, take care all x

brook2704 Fri 07-Mar-25 18:23:30

Yia sending 💐

Jaxjacky Fri 07-Mar-25 18:55:16

Made from marzipan brook unbelievable, I’ve noted the name of the talented baker, my son’s fiancée is 30 this year and Imogen 18.
Good you’re home FGT enjoy your informal soirée.
You’re having a tough time Yia a whirlwind of your husband’s illness, now you’re struggling, take care 🌹
We’ve had a damp, wet day, a call from my daughter at 8 to do a welfare check on Imogen - she was fine, then my son at 2. ‘My cars making a funny noise’ it is his first year of car ownership, all sorted, calm restored - they never really leave home ❤️
Our usual Friday pub catch up, gosh it was busy, a delight to see, five months ago we thought it was closed forever.
MrJ is on his signature sausages, mash and beans duty, I have a glass of 🥂, your health all.

cornergran Fri 07-Mar-25 19:26:49

Go gently yia, chronic pain is sometimes impossible to smile through.

Welcome back fgt, what a shame the sunshine took a holiday while you were away. The drinks sound an excellent start to your evening.

No sunshine here today, grey skies are back. The last few days have given me a real lift, even if we spent most of yesterday wandering caves in Cheddar marvelling at the natural beauty. 😂. We decided it was a holiday-day and off we went.

Have a good evening everyone. TOYA.

Redcar Fri 07-Mar-25 19:35:41

Goodnessjax that’s a spectacular cake! fgt pleased you’re home safely, enjoy your evening.
yiayia sorry you’re having such a tough time at the moment, hope things improve soon.
Another lovely day here, I have seen people in shorts and t-shirts, but I’m not abandoning my winter clothes just yet.
DD2 and I went to our local garden centre this morning, had a coffee and shared some cake. She bought some plants, but I didn’t get anything because I can’t put them in the garden and I’ve more than enough plants in pots already! Had several deliveries today, one of which is going straight back to the shop!
Have a good evening everyone.

There have been sad & worrying times in the kitchen lately.

I'm sorry to add mine to them, but, after several scans & biopsies, (at 4 different hospitals), yesterday we were given the news that my husband has prostate cancer that has spread to his bones. He's started on hormone treatment, but we now wait for an appointment with the oncology team to discuss treatment & possible radiotherapy.
We are remaining optimistic, DH is fairly well in himself, able to garden, potter about & still playing golf (badly, he says!)

Thank you for listening, warm thoughts for you all. x

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 07-Mar-25 20:30:55

Our littlest DGS (2 1/2) announced that when he grows up he wants to be a doctor. Or a reindeer

Oh Nannytopsy that was just too cute!

Grandmabatty Fri 07-Mar-25 20:37:26

Gillgran 💐

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 07-Mar-25 20:37:44

gillgran that’s a shock for you both this evening. A hug (much needed I expect) for you. It will have pulled the rug from beneath your feet. I know that feeling well. However great strides have been made in treatment options so 🤞 your husband does well.

And Yia I feel your sadness. Life has a way of sending us curveballs when we least expect them doesn’t it? We look back at when times were smooth and relatively stress free and feel sad. We just want things back how they were before. I get that.

Grannmarie Fri 07-Mar-25 20:51:12

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. Much sadness and worry in our kitchen just now, good to be able to share and be supported in tough times.

Dear Gillgran, I'm so sorry to hear about your DH, but thankfully some of his treatment has started already and he is in good spirits. Thinking of you both. 💐

YiaYia, sorry about your arthritis flare up, a painful thing. Hope it passes soon. Lots of ice and rest.

Great to see the wonderful photos, thanks to all posting. The cakes are works of art, Jaxjacky and Grandmabatty!

You've been busy in your garden, Redcar, enjoy your good weather. It's raining here just now but it is certainly much milder.

My sisters and I are going to a friend's 60th birthday celebrations in Glasgow tomorrow, beginning with an afternoon cocktail 🍹 making class at a smart city centre venue. B in L will drive us there and drop us at the door cos DSis2 is in a moonboot thingy after her foot op. The latest fashion accessory!🤣
The app says we will have 14 degrees and sunshine ☀ so I might just abandon my big winter coat and boots! Time to go upstairs and decide what to wear... what fits?

No Wee Boy today as he had a birthday party after school. We'll catch up with them soon.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Friday evening and a good night's sleep. TOYA.

Usedtobeblonde Fri 07-Mar-25 20:51:24

Gillgran a close friend of ours , just 60, has also been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
He is currently on the hormone treatment and just to say he gets very emotional and down on some days so be aware.
He is also still playing golf and doing DIY for a D who has just bought a house.
He has his next appointment with the oncologist at the end of March as to the next stage.
Our very best thoughts are with you both.
Also of course with all of you who are going through the mill with diagnoses, treatment and everything allied with it.

GrandmaC47 Fri 07-Mar-25 21:14:29

Yia and gillgan 💐.
fgt welcome home.
Grannmarie enjoy your cocktails 🍸

Nannytopsy Fri 07-Mar-25 21:33:22

Best wishes to you and your DH ’Gillgran. I’m sure there are grans here who can offer experience and solace.

brook2704 Fri 07-Mar-25 21:36:15

So sorry to hear about your DH gillgran, I hope he gets the best treatment with good results, take care and sending hugs x

Grandmabatty Fri 07-Mar-25 21:46:15
