Hotel showers

I seriously think that I am either super stupid when it comes to operating hotel showers or that hotel showers are just really tricky to figure out.
Have been staying in a lovely hotel in Brighton, the shower has a monsoon head and a hand held shower head, two controls, neither indicating anything, I got in the shower and tried one control, nothing, tried the other and the hand held shower sprung into action shooting enough water outside the shower cubicle to soak one of my towels and the floor, tried to turn it off but then the monsoon head came on. Shouted fur DH who then came in and got soaked trying to sort it out. I eventually got a shower but then so did the bathroom and my DH 😂
Does anyone else have this problem?

Why would you want to use a "face cloth" that countless people have used before you - very possibly not only on their faces?

If you do use one, take one with you, or buy a packet of disposable ones.

After reading on here that one Gransnetter who runs a B&B only washes her towels at 30° I'm even a little queasy about hotel towels, too.

babs03 I love a Brighton hotel. Which one did you stay at? I've stayed at a couple. The grand is my favourite. The Preston park the worst

We stayed at The Downs hotel, so called for superb views of the Downs. Not near the seafront but we didn’t want that, is a fantastic hotel have stayed here before.
👍

Just to clear up my probs with the shower, we were in a different room to before with a different shower set up, before I look even more dim 😳

It's not just showers. The heating/air con things they often have in hotel rooms are horrible to operate and I usually end up with a very cold room. I'd rather it was too hot as I feel the cold terribly. That, along with the showers, puts me off the whole thing.

I send MrOops into the shower first, he sorts it out and then explains it to me. Often after getting a cold shower himself until he sorts it out!

We have had a guest bathroom fitted with a double shower, large head on top, and smaller lower down- and since then we got it sussed. I always remove shower from holder and point to a corner well away from me, if not sure- until water is at right temp.

They always seem to run slowly and are small, so you have to be careful getting in and out.

I stayed in a lovely hotel in Malaga with a very snazzy shower set up. It had the usual monsoon type head and a handheld one which I managed to work out ok (keeping my glasses on otherwise I wouldn't have a clue). There was also a sort of jacuzzi setting which I didn't dare use until our last day - there were strips of small shower heads down the front, back and one side of the cubicle. No sooner had I turned the necessary knob I was blasted to the back of the cubicle and then blasted from all sides. Any attempt I made to crawl to the front to turn the wretched thing off was impossible. Eventually DH, who had been out, returned to the room and after enquiring if I was enjoying the jacuzzi experience (and got a very rude reply) managed to switch the thing off. Never again, it was a horrible experience, quite scary too.
