Good morning from Shropshire.A dull and damp start.

Last nights sleepover didn’t happen as when we collected H the teacher said he had been coughing a lot and DGD hadn’t been to school as she felt sick although we think she was exhausted after the very late night after the concert the night before.

Today we will go to DD’s and then over to Staffordshire for DGS1’s seventh birthday party🥳

Roses💐so difficult for you.

Take care on your adventures madeleine.

Have a good day everyone🦩

Wonderful photos ginny! Brought back many happy memories of a safari we went on in Kenya many years ago. Now, enjoy your cruise!

Good morning from a damp Suffolk. I think the very chilly strong wind of yesterday has gone, thank goodness.

A quiet day beckons where, after a dog walk, I intend to hunker down with my kindle and the papers. Reading about many of you enjoying TiB reminded me of the phrase …”bed tea” used in Indian homes and hotels I’ve been lucky enough to stay in. Obviously a universal pleasure.

Good morning from a very cold NE. Will be in most of the day but going out for pizza with work friends a get together from three people who have left. Hubby will go with son to early match so some me time will be mine. I’m knitting at the moment and enjoying the process. Feeling the cold terrible at the moment and dreaming of spring. Have a good day all.

Morning all from a cool West Oxfordshire. I slept until after 8 am so I’m still in bed!

After yesterday’s visit to a private consultant, OH has decided to pay for a particular operation which he can’t get on the NHS. He will have it done when I get back from Australia in early March,

He has a friend calling in today - someone like OH who is both a beekeeper and belongs to a shooting club too.

I have a parcel to collect and I need to buy some petrol. There is a garage near me where it is ‘only’ 1.29!

Have a good day, especially those of you with difficulties.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 2° and damp or icy out. I can't make up my mind. Roses that must be very difficult for you. Brook shoots are springing forth in all my pots- except where the squirrels have been! Madeleine I love rhubarb. The early pink stalks are the best.
Yesterday I picked up the boys from school/nursery. They both had good days. Dgs1 was highlighted for being inclusive and was a star writer. He was very pleased with himself. Dgs2 has settled in well to nursery and loves being there. Dd arrived not long after we got home with flowers for me which was a nice surprise. Then her father in law knocked on the door. He had been walking his dog and saw her car, so came to see the boys. It didn't bother me but I don't think DD was too pleased. While in, I asked him if he had enjoyed the Christmas pudding I had given him. Apparently it had gone off! I was mortified and checked the others and they were mouldy too. I have never had that happen before. Dd checked one in her house which was fine. I think that's the last time I'll bother with them.
Today I'm going to Aldi then the library as a book I ordered is in. Afterwards dgs1 is coming for a sleepover. Popcorn, and his new favourite, nachos have been requested. I am looking forward to it. Have a good day all.

Good morning everyone from a grey and damp Northampton, 2°C and forecast to be like this all day.

Small attendance at dance classes yesterday, lots of people off poorly, but it meant there was a bit more space to move!
Did not do a lot when I got home except make a chicken curry, read the paper and do the puzzles.

Will be making a hotpot in the slow cooker this morning, then an early lunch and out to live rugby this afternoon. Four of our backs will be away this afternoon, starting for England in the Six Nations. Watch out for Fin Smith, our young fly half goal kicker! Will watch that match when I get back.

Lovely safari pictures Ginny - I remember the excitement and wonder of our game drives from my South African holiday a couple of years ago.

Wishing all a good weekend.

Beautiful photos ginny thanks for sharing, your holiday sounds wonderful. Enjoy the cruise coming up!

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry, not sunny and looks chilly out. L’il Miss is arriving soon. We will play Barbies, I’ve bought her a new comic (£6.99 😱) that has little gifts (an animal face purse for one) and contains stories we can read, a maze and a word search. I think I enjoy it as much as she does! Then we will go into the square for a mooch, a hot chocolate in Starbucks and up on the escalator into the library which is modern. When we go in she decides - walk up the stairs, the lift or the elevator grandma? 😁

The rest of our day will unfold as it takes us.

Good morning all and it’s wet but calm here in Essex.
The wind as we left our seaside cottage, nearly blew us off our feet and going over the Orwell Bridge was ‘exciting’ (not).😟.
It didn’t stop raining for the rest of the day.

Relaxing and hunkering down today, I’ll start my new book club book. Always exciting to have the next one, but this one is about an Octopus 🤔. Not sure it’s my ☕️.

I’ll do a bit of shopping first as Dd and dgd6 are coming for Sunday roast tomorrow. It will be nice to see them, although Dd hasn’t been too well. Hopefully just a cold and this time of year. She’s had recent blood tests! 🙏

No footie for Dh and ds1 as the ground is too wet. DS1 has been on business in Paris this week so will be shattered. He should’ rest up but he never does. I expect him and DIL will pop in for coffee / chat sometime.

Take care all and keep warm and dry.🌱

Morning from a dull chilly S Hants, yesterday was freezing with sleet/rain into the evening.
Out and about shops and fuelled up yesterday, no need to venture far today, MrJ has gone for my paper.
A bed delivered here will be taken over to my daughter, she enjoys a flat pack, not my genes, I have little patience!
Rugby to watch, noted BlueSapphire
Tricky for you Roses but time for action perhaps.

Went back to sleep but as I have no plans till later it doesn’t matter that I am still in my pyjamas. Need to walk up to the village and then have a difficult phone call this afternoon which will require wisdom and tact, neither of which I feel I possess. Meanwhile a very grey morning but at least not raining at present, the snowdrops are a delight and the days are noticeably longer.

Good morning Mick and all from a cloudy 3° northwest coast.
Art group yesterday in a different room as work is going on in the church. I could not get warm at all and kept my hat and coat on.

Paperwork today, sending emails to Germany to recover performing fees, a bit of a bother and I now have a hospital appointment to check a little swelling on my lymph node scar.
The same thing happened in spring last year and was clear, so the Dr. doesn’t think it’s anything to worry about, but I do!

Fab safari pic Ginny and thoughts to all🌺

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 08-Feb-25 10:04:26

Hope your phone call goes well GrannySomerset. Skills of a diplomat needed by the sounds. Good luck.

Beechnut Sat 08-Feb-25 10:07:56

Good morning everyone from a murky Severnside where I too am still in my nightie and dressing gown.

After my swim yesterday I watched a lot of Netflix. Today I must do something so aim to do some card making. First off I’ll put a new to me chicken recipe in the slow cooker.

I hope you all have a good day 💐

Morning all from a very dreich Ashford in Kent. Marydoll that village is 600feet higher than where you are, no wonder it’s colder! I often look on the village webcam to see what the weather is doing. When I was working in Scotland it was a good indicator of what clothes to pack! My father was born in the village so it’s very close to my heart. (BTW I sent you a PM yday to your inbox) We are off to Folkestone this afternoon. I am having an ultrasound on the lumps on my back. At least I get to see the sea and a visit to Morrison’s - we don’t have one in Ashford. Nearest one is 15 miles away.
I’ve had a cracker of a book to proofread this week about Lord Nelson. It tells the tale of the last four hours of his life, lying on the deck of Victory thinking back. The author had ‘all the right words, not necessarily in the right order’ as M&W would say. My comma, semicolon and space bar need a wee rest - they were very busy! The author left school aged 10 with no real grasp of punctuation. When I sent him the first few pages of corrections, he phoned to say just do it all, I trust you! There were more red lines than black letters! He has another bit of work for me so something to look forward to.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

Georgesgran Sat 08-Feb-25 10:40:29

Good morning from Durham, very late for me, but I had to collect DD1’s work phone from her office.
It’s cold and wet here, but I’m hoping to see DD2 and DGS2 later, if they’ve no plans in place.

Best wishes to all. X

Marydoll Sat 08-Feb-25 11:02:21

Borrheid, I never knew there was a webcam in the village!

I saw your PM, but it was late I was so cold and miserable, I decided to respond today.
Good luck with your scan. x
