Favourite and least favourite TV ads

I don’t actually see many adverts at all. I tend to put things on the SKY planner so I can whizz through the adverts when I watch the programme. It’s very satisfying.

Two I’d like to ban have already been going for ages - the ‘Can a Lenor bed get any fresher?’ one 😩, and that profoundly annoying woman gushing about ‘SO soft,’ baby skin (Fairy detergent).
But then I’m a fully paid up GOB nowadays (grumpy old bag) so I do find a lot of things intensely irritating. 🙂

There's an advert which I think is for a holiday company where there is a little boy and and an older man, the boy looks decidedly uncomfortable with the actor playing his grandpa. I really don't like it, it's almost creepy!

The so soft baby skin ad is really tedious, the mother talks about fairy washing detergent as if it is a religious experience, really annoying.
Also the KFC ad showing people doing a robotic dance mimicking a chicken in some kind of dystopian world, with a chicken apparently being worshipped - before being made into a KFC family bucket one supposes 🫣

Hate the Tesco I've got power ,also the one for super noodles with a lady with a donkey on her back.

Calendargirl, I was about to write the same! My other hate is the one on the GBNews channel where a woman and her daughter go into a department store, look at some furniture, and say " I'm thinking lounge" and the small precocious daughter (laying on a bed with a man) nods agreement. It's awful.

In all honesty I couldnt even name one advertisement on current TV. Go back a few years then Milk Tray and Black Magic chocolates as any chocolate was a luxury never mind a box.

Funeral adverts - so many!!

I don't see myself as being influenced by adverts (though I realise that everybody is, without being aware of they wouldn't spend millions of pounds on TV adverts if they weren't effective). I think the whole industry is deceitful and horrible really. But I have to admit to finding the Polestar4 car advert strangely beguiling. I'm not even interested in cars - I don't drive.

I can't name any. I record most programmes and fast forward through the adverts.

I really hate the charity adverts,especially the ones for cancer.As a person who has had cancer there is nothing worse trying to relax at night watching television,then an advert comes on showing someone dying just before you go to bed. On a lighter note I hate the lady advertising how easy her walk in shower is. Yes they are good but she is as fit as a flea. Can we show people with real disabilities please.

I always chuckle at the crypto currency one - for potatoes. I wish they would show the whole advert rather than the truncated one that seems to appear now.

The bingo ones during The Chase are irritating and I really dislike the ‘gush’ ones, the charity ones and those showing animals in distress.

I too can't stand the big bloke in the bath for the pure cremation advert, I just wish he would choke on the Sausage roll he was drooling over.
Spec savers are definitely the best ones atm.

Funeral plans , pee pads ,graphically illustrated blood on sanitary towels make me change channels ,make tea and /or open a coffee table book .
I've even put my fingers in my ears and sang ,la ,la ,la !

I hate it. I think motor bike sidecars are a most dangerous form of transport ( I know someone that died in one ) and the thought of an elderly man who hasn’t ridden a motorbike for a long time careering down country lanes with a child in the sidecar terrifying.

I hate the ads with real stars such as Judy Dench and George Clooney.

What makes professionals who presumably are worth quite a bit of money demean themselves to advertise such crappy products.

Is it ego or what? I’m totally baffled.

lisy I really like the potato/crypto currency ad too. I told my friuend it makes me laugh each time I see it and she said it was stupid, not at all funny. I like the other one too - about the stupid names for supposedly different shades of white.

I used to love the old Guinness ads. They must have changed their agency years ago because I haven't seen anything to compare for a long while. I like any ad with an adorable toddler in it (softie, me).
My list of hated ads is too long to type them all out (what an old misery-guts!) but here are some:
People stealing food from someone and crowing about it.
Any kid of "dancing" (ie, jumping about with flailing arms). It's SO old hat and the dancing is cruddy.
The "poonami" ad (I mean, puh-LEASE).
Slim, agile younger women using wheelchairs, risers or disability baths (who are they kidding?).
Couldn't tell you the brands that most are advertising because I use the mute button and don't fix my eyes back on the screen until the programme starts again.

Oops, I meant "any kind of..."

The one that annoys me most is the holiday advert with Paddy McGuinness doing voice over, which many people thought he was using the F word because of his accent, it also has obnoxious man child scooping up chocolate donuts, it drives me mad. My son has work for advertising agency in London for 25 years and says if people are talking about advert, like it or not, it has done it’s job!

My DH hates the one in the morning before Fraser with the Ginger shot etc it drives him nuts. I love the On the beach one with Booking Geniuses. I always replace booking for the F word and it cracks me up. I wrote this before seeing the last post from WelwynWitch3.
