Police apparently have to respond to claims of harassment. It seems the woman had targeted this person several times. It's unclear what she had said.

We do not know what she wrote. I do not think that she can be described as a reliable witness on this matter.
In short, I do not believe that she has not "edited" her version of events.
My former police officer friend was equally disbelieving.

The problem for those of us who support free speech (not just the speech we like) is that our commitment to it means we dont report 'the offense' so those who do report hold the power.

Not cantankerous at all. I won't take someone claiming something without evidence and the evidence has to be substantial and from different sources. GB 'news' and The Daily Mail are two cheeks of the same xxxx in my opinion and that's an opinion not a fact.

I suspect this had more to do with the police visit, but hey - let's not miss an opportunity to 'misunderstand' and have another go at the government?

nanna8 I don't know how it works in Australia, as it is so far away and I only hear second hand from my brother so can't really comment, but here the PM doesn't make decisions about who is visited by police. Nothing to do with him.

I have experienced Police visits, and I was actually arrested back in the day, not anything to do with freedom of speech, but a misinformed report about me.

Happy to say released with no charge!

So I’m aware of the potential damage done due to spite or deliberate misinformation.

The police were very kind to me, but it was a bit unnerving!

I have read about this too. It would be laughable if it was not so serious. They will be knocking on my door soon probably. The government wanted to access the very highest level of encryption Apple offers

which isnt used by the public generally or in the kinds of groups were are discussing here

and Apple responded by taking away that level of encryption in the UK. It's the kind of encryption used by terrorists, child abuse/pornography groups, and there is a useful thread where we discussed/debated it

The easiest way for you to find out about what happens when you say something against the zeitgeist is to look at LWS website. Click on live steam and listen to the ordinary women telling their stories.

Or listen to KellyJay Keen explaining how many times she has been arrested for saying on line and in person things deemed offensive by some.

There are many other cases such as Jamie Michael's hate speech case taken up by Toby Young's Free Speech Nation, which he won.

It is interesting how many times the free speech union win when it goes to the wire, almost as if the police etc havent a clue what they are doing.

All we've heard is this woman's side of events. The police will have a different version.
