54 Year Old Woman visited by Police

It was on GBNews this morning. The woman said on FB (I don’t use it, I didn’t see it) that the councillors in Southport ought to stand down. Two policemen knocked at her door (verified) to caution her not to post such views in future. As GBNews commenters said surely the Police should concentrate their efforts on burglaries etc.

Well, much as I dislike Trump and his politics, I have been 😯 by some posts hoping he will meet his demise soon.

We can think things but writing them on social media is a different matter.

I suppose someone reported the woman’s SM comments to the police as harassment / racist or whatever; therefore the police would be obliged to follow it up.

According to the GB news website she had also posted racist messages and joked about a cycling campaigner being "mown down by a truck".

Sounds like a lovely individual.

Apparently IT WAS THE LABOUR MP THAT SAID THAT according to a source on Gransnet!!!

The police refused to confirm that it was Andrew Gwynne or his partner who had made the complaint about the WhatsApp message.

If it was him, he should be ashamed of himself.

One might think they'd look at the posts and make a sensible decision.
If it was Gwynne or one of his associates it is totally hypocritical

Yes, that struck me too.

They wouldn't send just one man to see a woman for obvious reasons. As has been said before we don't know what was said and only have this woman's version of events so we can't say it's overkill.

The police said they'd taken two days to get to this woman as they'd prioritised other more important issues and had been making over 200 arrests for assault, rape and burglary during that time.

Seems like the police can't do the right thing for trying.

Honestly - I wish people would read between the lines of articles and not just blow up at the headlines. It's because we do this (I am as guilty as anyone) that the papers are so adept at manipulating us.

People always seem to be able to do the job of the police better. I wonder how they would fare in some situations our police have to face in their work.
